Yeah, it's always disappointing when one team is in throwbacks and the other ain't. That probably had the teams ready to fight even before the beanball.

That's Jeff Van Gundy

Poor Jeff Van Gundy. I don't even get that and I think it's funny.

The hapless peacemaker turns out to be Reds catcher Tucker Barnhart. And speaking of catchers, how shocked would you be to learn that this was all possibly initiated by Francisco Cervelli?

Back when he was the coach of the Knicks -- and when the Knicks actually did things like qualify for playoffs -- the Knicks got into a brawl during a playoff game with the Heat which resulted in JVG grabbing onto the ankle of a Miami player about 19 times his size and being dragged across the floor by him like the ride your uncle used to give you when you were about 4 y/o. The difference being that I don't think the Heat player (Alonzo Mourning?) had any inkling that he had a reasonably-sized human being semi-attached to him while it was all going on.

IIRC Van Gundy came out of it with nothing more than torn pants and a severely mussed combover, but it made for a helluva video.

I don't know who is doing the commentary, but that might be the best -- and most accurate -- baseball fight commentary ever!

I'm not sure I intervene if I'm a Red. First off, Puig is probably fine. There are only 25 or so Pirates to contend with. And most look kinda wussy.

More importantly, Puig is pretty crazy. So there's only about a 50% chance he recognizes me as a teammate/friend. Maybe even lower considering he's brand new to the team.

I guess I recall this. This was the game where pretty much the entire Knicks team left the bench, qualifying all of them for an automatic two game suspension?

The Anthony/Starks/Mason Knicks, right?
