Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 Signs a minor league deal. Will make $3 million if he makes the club.Um. So, why were we not in on that?1) Because he's a penis. We covered this in the Gio Gonzalez thread.2) MFYs will give him a job; Severino will be out for a month+ with an injury3) "Mets people" say they didn't like him last year, someone said
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 Isn't he basically Vargas already and trending down? The Yankees already have their an injury, so there's presumably a potential role.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 Yeah, I think some of our perspective is skewed on account of him being like 43-2 / 2.14 lifetime vs the MetsHe's slow, he walks a ton, he's slow, he'll bust the 100-pitch plateau by the 4th inning. Oh yeah, and he's really, really slow and agonizingly frustrating to watch.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 The deal also has an opt-out for GG if he's not on the ML club by April 20Chances are, on the Yanx, that he will be (hell, he might start opening day) where he'd be less likely to be among the starting five in Queens by that date.
