Edgy MD Site Manager Posted January 2, 2019 Posted January 2, 2019 A mid-April pickup, Scott Copeland was brought in on a minor league deal about the same time as Vance Worley. Although he had a few weeks of big league experience in 2015 with Toronto, Cope was sent to Bingo while Worley went right to Vegas. But he made it to Vegas by mid-May, and had one glorious day of Met-ness, throwing 1 1/3 scoreless in a loss to the Cubs. Worley didn't get bupkis, and that's saying something, considering it was a season when the Mets used more players than any season prior.Scott's may not have been the shortest Met career, but it was probably damn close. He elected for free agency at the end of the year, and just before the new year, he reportedly signed a minor league deal with Washington. He was probably pretty jazzed that his healthy season and his successful cameo against the Cubs meant he didn't have to wait until April to sign again.Scott was one of those pitchers who wasn't quite fat, but had a big, fleshy frame that suggested he probably liked to fatten up in the off-season. His middle name is "Reast," which is the only time that name appears in major league history.https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DekbpjIUwAAXWqB.jpg>

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted January 3, 2019 Posted January 3, 2019 Once faced the Cubs, at home, with a runner on first, and no outs, in the 8th inning, and got to an 0-2 count, in a game the Mets were losing 4-0.I believe he'd thrown 7 pitches to that point. How could I forget
