No score, top 4.. I thought that Jefry Rodriguez guy wasn't pitching afterall, but it's just his damn nickname. I think I like these 2-tone jerseys a little. I hate the creamsicle orange, but would like to see a mock-up of a blue v-neck with regular orange sleeves. I think it could look kinda cool for a Sunday top or something.

Also, I listened to the Cars self-titled debut this morning, and man, what a vibe killer "I'm in Touch with Your World" is for me. Smack-dab in the middle of record and all these kazoos and whistles and shit. That song would be such a good forgotten b-side.

I should like you all to know that it is zero to zero, four and a half innings in the books.

Matz does not suck (yet) today. 5 shutout, 3 hits, 1 walk, 5 K's in a pretty efficient 65 pitches.

Let's do the damn thing already, Mets.

Zzzz.
Watching on MASN, listening to Howie on the mlb app. No Josh Lewin so Wayne Randazzo is in the booth and he's not doing very well. I have nothing against him on the pre-and post-game shows, and he's not as bad at announcing as his Uncle is at umpiring, but he's more concerned with yucking it up with Howie than with calling the game.

Crap, something is wrong with McNeil. The Mets need their best hitter!

Triple crap. Neither Kelenic (Kingsport) nor Alonso (Las Vegas) played last night, and Kelenic is isn't in there today.
And now McNeil?
Its a conspiracy against the entire Mets organization. And I think its being orchestrated by Vladimir Putin.
Or maybe not.

OE: Alonso is back in the lineup today. Never mind.

I'm guessing: typhoid

At a quick glance, that 'Players Weekend' patch, being worn on the right shoulder, looks like a baseball version of the evolution of man.

That's John Rocker, two figures to the left of Man Walks Upright.

As if Bob Carpenter isn't bad enough, Nationals TV has the Kars4Kids TV Commercial!

Cover your ears. Close your eyes. Stay calm, and resist the temptation to throw something heavy at the TV set.
It will pass.

After the bases loaded walk, that might happen.

Great job Seawald. DFA his ass. And perhaps Mickey should have had Blevins ready but he got outsmarted.

New Scandanavian Cooking on my PBS station is how they brew Swedish coffee. 60 grams of coffee for each liter of water. They visited Costa Rica and Columbia to show how it is grown and harvested.

That sound nice. Have you tried "Stay Here" on Netflix?

If we were playing for this year, Blevins has to be in there. As it stands we're playing for next year, and giving Sewald the chance to pass a gut check was a reasonable test to me. OK, so he flunked. And Basholor didn't help himself either. That's two more data points going into the offseason.

Valid point if that was the intent but then they are hypocrites by playing Reyes, Bautista, and now Bruce at 1B.

In the two games where we've been blown out by the Nats this year, we've managed to remove one of their high-priced relievers each time:
1) Shawn Kelley, whose frustration-triggered glove spike in the 7/31 24-5 game got him drop-kicked by the Nats before ever throwing another pitch for them
2) Kelvin Herrera, picked up just two months ago, doesn't look like he's returning to action anytime soon after spiking his ankle this afternoon, so he's possibly thrown his final pitch of the year for the Nats also

and in neither case did a NYM player have anything to do with it.

... so, y'know, there's that.

Brutal. The highlight at Citi Field this afternoon was one of the Staten Island Little Leaguers going to town at Kiddie Field during the home run challenge promotion. Talk about a ringer.
