Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 If I ever have more kids I’m naming them all Nimmo.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 So the Vargas era continues to not go particularly well.

Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 The Mets stake Vargas out to a 5-3 lead and Vargas promptly goes out and gives up an absolute bomb to Aguilar.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 Following the HR by Aguilar, Vargas gives up a double to Shaw and a single by Saladino to tie the game.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 Rhame comes in and picks up where Vargas left off. The last three Brewers have gone walk, triple, and single. Now Braun steals second to get into scoring position.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 What a surprise, Ramos gives up two runs without surviving a single inning. There just isn't much relief available in the Mets bullpen.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 Wait. AJ Ramos was allowed to pitch in what was a close game?Has Mickey fallen and hit his head?
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 Ramos sucking is the least surprising thing in the world.
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 When the hell is Swarzak available? Or any of those half-dozen minor league middle relievers we acquired at the trade deadline?

I read that he's slowly making his way back.Edgy knows better than I do but none of the "bounty" that the Mets genius GM acquired last season for Bruce, Granderson and Reed are any good (other than one guy who is in A ball).Meanwhile, what are they going to do with Vargas and Ramos? They aren't going to send them down or cut them because that would mean Sandy would be admitting two mistakes.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 I think there's plenty of good there.Meanwhile, I've never seen a 1-2-5 double-play before.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 With the bases loaded with Brewers (what a surprise), The Mets turn the rare 1-2-5 DP.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 If any quality is found there, it’s by accident. The intent wasn’t to get talent. It was to unload salary. If any of them turn into anything it will be fortuitous.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 Cabrera doesn't look like his legs are OK.

They still look for talent. It happens all the time.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 Some prioritize talent. Some prioritize dumping salary. We know which category the Mets fall into.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 It’s pretty well determined that the Mets could have brought back better talent had they eaten salary. They chose not to. They could have had better talent this winter but elected to sign Vargas.
