Noah Syndergaard (16-0, 0.56) vs Junior Guerra (who cares)

Syndergaard struck out eleven guys -- incredibly, all wearing uniform number 42 -- in his start vs Milwaukee in April: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=26836

Guerra has faced the Mets twice. Gave up one Yo HR in a no-decision in 2016, and pitched six shutout innings for a W in a game last year at Citi.

Nice diving catch by Nommo in LF. A catch that Cepedes, Bruce, and likely Conforto can't make. He gets on base, brings some speed to the line up, is a better defender than most of our outfielders, what does he have to do to get regular playing time once Cespedes is back?

I have complete confidence that Jay Bruce will become good as soon as Sandy trades him to Houston this July.

Odd game for Noah so far in that he's got a high hit count yet a low pitch count.
Usually it's been the other way around his year for NYM hurlers.

Half of me wants Reyes to bunt, even though there's two outs.

The other half says Reyes has as much a chance against this guy as anybody. Hit a homer.

i like the bunt plan, probably Reyes' best chance to get on base right now.

Nice call early in yesterday's IGT by abn-seo on this Hader dude.

Mickey is getting destroyed on Twitter, by writers and fans alike, for pinch-hitting Reyes when Noah had a low pitch count, the Mets have a lot of games coming up (including a DH on Monday where they do not have a SP for game 2) and it's not like Reyes had a great chance of getting hit off Hader (or mostly anyone).

I liked Frazier emploring Bautista to do the salt and pepper thing. Way to go Jose!

JOEY BATS

Knebel's not just missing spots... he's missing them by a foot or two.

GODDAMMIT. Vaya con dios, Corey.

Rosario in a situation where the pitcher has to throw strikes seems like a good deal, no?

Impressive at-bat from Guillorme. For a rookie to keep fighting off pitches and then have the discipline to not swing on ball 4 was a very good sign.

I disagree with the haters vis-a-vis PH'ing against Hader
In what may have been their last best chance to tie up the game, did these folks really want their lefty-swinging, .185-career-hitting, star pitcher in there with two outs vs that 95-throwing lefty monster?
Not me.

In contrast, Rosario swings wildly at ball 2. He would have been ahead on the count 2-0. Dammit.

We fans tend to only recognize it when it happens against our teams -- ie. Familia two nights ago -- but one run saves are blown more than 20% of the time and tonight it was Mr. Rebel Knebel adding to those stats.
