Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 The 51s beatwriter on the Twitter sez Dom Smith and Buddy Bauman are on their way to Philly, presumably for the paternally-displaced Bruce and Blevins.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 What an incredibly interesting pair of moves. I approve!
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 Baumann is reportedly required to serve a 1-game suspension for his role in a brawl with Colorado dating to his SD stint so wouldn't be immediately available.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 When you said that Dom Smith was "on the way to Philly" I thought for a moment that he had been traded.

I was confused as to why were trading them to Philly for two guys we already had on the roster; then I re-read it and it made way more sense.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 What's a Buddy Baumann?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 Do none of you fuckos read my roster updates?Buddy Baumann made appearances with the Padres from 2016 to 2018, but was claimed off waivers by the Mets while they were in San Diego, and assigned to Vegas.Lefty, long track record of minor league success going back to 2009, and has done a decent job in the majors, striking out a lot, but walking a lot, the way LOOGys do.Short with a compact motion, so not the typical LOOGy profile.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 Baumann has been mentioned as taking Robles's place, assuming they decide that oh dear he's too hurt to pitch.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 Looks like we'll have a taste of a two-lefty bullpen.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 77 Baumann Strip: Buddy goes where Carrasco and Nido have gone before him, presumably because he has no self respect.One-game suspension tonight. Shouldn't wearing 77 be considered punishment enough?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 They shoulda gave him 33

duan Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 Not that it's any of my business, and obviously the way they spend chunks of time on the road makes it somewhat less of an issue they aren't there anyway so what difference does it make - and the 'everyday grind' also makes it different, but I always find it weird that 'most of the time' baseball players seem to live somewhere other then the city they play in. I can easily imagine that if my partner/wife was 8 months pregnant and she was a 4 hour flight away I'd find it fairly unsettling and that I might play at a sub-optimal level. It'd be like a footballer playing for Man City and his wife living in Istanbul. Definitely in football one of the big things that clubs try and make happen after a transfer is 'getting the player out of a hotel and into a home'.

duan Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 100%I'm just thinking of what a weird experience it must be.
