Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted April 23, 2018 Posted April 23, 2018 NYM Matz (1-1, 4.42) at STL Weaver (2-1, 4.22)
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2018 Posted April 23, 2018 I feel like it's been a week since the Mets lost that shit game and still another week before they play again.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2018 Posted April 23, 2018 Having nearly 72 hours between a bullpen meltdown loss and the next game is pure agony for me (and as of this post, I'm only halfway through that amount of time).
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 23, 2018 Posted April 23, 2018 Wheels will go Tuesday, according to what I saw.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 23, 2018 Posted April 23, 2018 I'm curious how close Matz is to following Harvey into the pen.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 Holy crap. Play some fucking baseball already.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 This game may be historic if it's the debut of Matt Harvey, relief pitcher.Heck, even if he doesn't play, there are sure to be 1,000 shots of him in the bullpen, attempting to look serious and driven, but in fact projecting surly and lonely. Much Ron Darling reflection on the subject will occur as well.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 Edgy MD wrote:This game may be historic if it's the debut of Matt Harvey, relief pitcher. The 2018 debut. Harvey dipped a toe into his future role last September when Syndergaard was doing his inning-and-out rehab.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 I'm guessing if Matt Harvey gets into this game, the score will not be in our favor and won't be close.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 I just have to say that I'm not terribly kahnfident that the Mets leaveSt Louis still in first place. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if they lose 2 of 3 nor is a sweep out of the question.Feel free to throw rotten tomatoes at me Friday morning if I'm wrong.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 And we'll throw fresh tomatoes at you if you're right!

It could be the 1962 Mets playing the 2016 Cubs and a "sweep is not out of the question" would apply to both. The Mets are a good team, Jay Bruce aside, they could easily sweep them too.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 That may be the case. But one team that won't be in first place on Friday is the Nationals, having fallen 7 games back in the loss column. One thing that hasn't been mentioned so far is strength of schedule. The Mets have played a lot of good teams early on. They've faced the top two teams in the Central, the top two teams in the East (other than themselves) and the Nats. Only the three games against Miami were against a bad team. Of their 20 games, 11 have been against teams with winning records. Another 6 were against the Nationals. That's 17 out of 20 games against quality opponents. On the other hand, the Phillies have played nine games against Miami, Tampa and the Reds. All crap teams. They also won 4 games against Pittsburgh, who, despite the hot start, is not expected to be a very good team. Starting today, they play the Diamondbacks. So the road gets tougher for them. What does all of this mean? Not much. LGM!
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 Centerfield wrote:What does all of this mean? Not much. LGM!The Mets were roughly projected to finish 9 games behind the Nats to start the season. 20 games or so isn't enough to really change how 'good' or 'bad' a team is, but the Mets have enough games in hand now that even if those projections are accurate from this point forward, the Mets and Nats are now neck and neck. The Mets "make the playoffs" percentage is up to 55%. Winning is good.

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 Oh good, an 8:15 first pitch. Mrgghhhrrg.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 I know. And this trip is followed by a visit to San Diego.

[fimg=50]http://www.rumercosmetics.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/brazilian-butt-lift.jpg[/fimg], more than half their wins and seven of their more recent nine games played have come at the expense of the god-awful (4-18) Cincy Reds (who smushed the Braves last night, but I digress) out-scoring them 44-17 while going 7-0Aside from that, they're 1-2 vs us, also 1-2 vs ARZ, 1-1 vs CHC (plus 17 rainouts), and 3-3 vs MILOh, and Wainwright was just DL'd
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 Something in your message distracted me. I can't quite put my finger on it, and probably shouldn't even if I could.

The Mets are in first place and the Phillies and Braves aren't actually great teams. I'm not sure the Cardinals are either. I think the Mets have more chips on the table but that doesn't mean the ball won't fall on 00 and we won't have it covered.

I doubt it will be luck over execution or non-execution but that'ssomething we can track over the next three days.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 It may be the best AC/DC album that isn't actually an AC/DC album, which sure isn't nothing.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 It's funny because at the time it was new it was my feeling, along with a lot of my friends, that AC/DC was a band for 13 year old boys and the Cult was edgy and complex.
