I know what they say. Not gonna happen. Washed up. Stealing money. Blah, blah, blah.

Yeah, I got two words. Tiger Woods. Years away from competitive play. Wrecked back. Multiple surgeries undermined confidence. Yet here he is, playing championship quality golf all of a sudden. And the game is better for it. Yeah, I don't know if swinging a golf club 72 times a day is more or less traumatic than chasing fastballs with a bat, but there''s something there. I think it's called hope.

I'm past two words. But give me a chance. Give Tebow a chance. Give peace a chance. Hope often doesn't get you the outcome you want. But the game is better with hope.

I'm David Wright, and I'm hope. Waddaya say?

Edgy, 10 years into his marriage, is completely unbiased about my situation.

gets experimental bionic implants. no one knows what to do. comes back July 1st and hits 45 home runs. Donates entire years income to making the bionic implants a viable cure for spinal stenosis.

7 HR in the World Series, front and center of the World Series parade. Does a lot of press during the offseason. His new nickname is Cyborg.

Something seems off in his demeanor in his offseason press tour though, but we just chalk it up to all he's gone through.

He's still mashing in April 2019, but he's developed a temper. May 3rd he literally steps in front of Amed Rosario to make a play. Rosario has words, and it almost comes to blows. Things calm down for a while after that, Wright is apologetic and seemingly back to normal until May 22nd.

On May 22nd, a schedule off day, Cespedes is scheduled to bat in the bottom of the 9th of a game the Mets are trailing 3-2. Cespedes is in a 3 for 29 slump but we're hoping this will break him out of it. Conforto walks and Cespedes puts his bat down when David leaps out of the dugout and tells Cespedes he's being pinch hit for. Cespedes, livid, goes to yell at Mickey who had no idea, while David takes the at-bat. David homers to walk it off but instead of a pileup at home Cespedes is halfway up the third base line screaming at him. Gelbs tries to get Wright to do the usual post-game interview on the field but Wright shoves him aside and goes into the clubhouse.

His postgame comments amount to "Yoenis was going to strike out. I won the game, what more do you want?"

David and Cespedes are not in the lineup the next day and the press is locked out from the clubhouse. No one will comment.

The next day it's announced that both players are on the DL. Cespedes with facial contusions, Wright with an unspecified illness.

It's the last we ever see of David in a Mets uniform.

instead of a windshield it'll just be a tv screen that shows Wright highlights.

Short of experimental bionic implants, it's hard (extremely difficult) to even
imagine anything Metly in 2018. Finally gives in after the playoffs and calls
it a career due to health concerns.
