Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 1:10 start, on SNY. Going to try and pull down the stream since I'm working from home today.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 WHAT DO WE DO WITH ALL THESE PRODUCTIVE OUTFIELDERS.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 Travvy with an end-of-the-bat double down the RF line off a long, loopy swing.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 Does that beard make Guillorme look 40 pounds heavier or is it me...
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 How does Harv look guys?It occurs to me he was mid 90's last fall, and he still stunk. More life on his pitches? Secondary stuff have any bite?
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 I've seen fastballs at 93, 94 and he just floated a slider at 86. Couple hard hit balls, in the 2nd, one a double, one a line out to right. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯Edit: got a nice swinging K on some 80 MPH pitch to end the 2nd.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 Looks a little CAHNfident this year vs. last to me, that's encouraging. That said I put my doubts on hold early last year as well when he got off to a pretty good start but when he stopped trying the Mets cratered with him.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 Zeile seems pretty alright by me. Decent insights and I like that he's not trying to be funny at all. Harv doesn't seem to be lighting up the gun today on the FB, but the slider is making dudes take poor swings.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 In his last game last season, he was actually getting outs while being unable to get by on power, doing the old changing-speeds-alternating-sides-of-the-plate thing. I was actually impressed before he walked off in pain. Here's hoping he stops trying to rediscover his bazooka for a bit, pitches with his guile, and if the power returns, it'll be a blessing.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 3 good innings for Hahhvey. Meaningless game, sure, but it makes me happy.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 I'm reading 3 scoreless for Harv, sat between 92-95 mph. Threw a lot of off-speed stuff that seems better than last year.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2018 Author Posted March 5, 2018 Got a good stream from the Reddits, casting to my basement while I work. Not too shabby. This is how I hope to spend Opening Day as well.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 Watched the Nimmo HR on my phone.I think Nimmo could round the bases twice in the time it takes Rickey Henderson to round them once.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 When I was kid, ST games always seemed to begin on or about March 5, so I'm mentally willing to write off the games that happen before then. But my constitution is incapable of declaring any game as "meaningless." And if there's any meaning to be drawn from the games to this point, it's that Brandon Nimmo is suddenly the team's best offensive player.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 Last AB was a triple that died in the CF's glove, but Reyes has been absolutely scorching the ball today.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 Tigers smashing away the shutout in Drew Smith's 2nd inning
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 The meager six hits were augmented by five walks today. That's the winning stuff!Be like Nimmo!
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 Ty Kelly makes a nice play to end it, Mets win the damn thing
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 Hey, I'm watching the replay and I just realized Andres Gimenez was in the house and got to make his fake MLB debut, pinch-running for Luis Guillorme in the bottom of the eighth, and then taking over at shortstop for the ninth. The ball finds you. On the first play, a single got by him on a ball he deflected before it snuck into left-center. It could have gone for an error and maybe would have during the regular season. It was a hot shot, but he wasn't playing in or anything. And then a ball in his vicinity went for a double after it ricocheted off of David Thompson's glove, and he was forced to chase it into left. He was somewhat tentative over whether he or Borenstein should grab it, and Victor Reyes hustled into second with a double.Smith blew the shutout, but the kid gloves didn't do him any favors.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 Very encouraged with Harvey. He seems calm, in shape and throwing free.
