And then whoever wins your little play-in round gets the honor of getting pummeled by the '86 Mets. Now send some of that fondue to my table.

stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 YES! I FOUND A CLUB WITH A LOT OF METS IN IT!Take it easy there buddy, there is a long way to go to the top of the food chain here.Ugh! I was this close to getting in here!Sorry man, I'm one of the bouncers at the gate, we should have our 150th member in the club, and more, very early next year though.Would you guys down there pipe down, I'm trying to figure out if I'll be able to be in the Platinum Room here by the end of the decade! Anyway, there are 18 guys not represented here!
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 The captions are so funny and I'm so busy saving the fantastic images (the high quality ones anyways) to my Met photo library that I don't even bother to guess. I want this one to go on for awhile! Here's a colorized Charlie Smith. Sorry about the watermark. Just crop out his head. When I was a kid my family didn't have a color TV until I graduated from 8th grade. And I was harping for so many years for one (since the '66 Batman TV show hit the screens) that my folks got me a small tiny color set for my bedroom . They got it for just me!!! (we got a big console/stereo one for the living room a short time later).I'll never forget when I watched my first baseball game on it. Of course it was the Mets on WOR-TV! The green was so beautifully green, the dirt so wonderfully tannish, the Mets blue so royally blue, and the interlocking NY on the Mets caps danced around like a little orange flame when they were in motion.Same when I attended my first Mets game. When I walked from the tunnel (not my very first game, my father took me to a Yankee game for a firemans outting- Godawful lighting and I got the seat behind a girder. Gah!) I was just in awe. The Skankee game was a night game, and I remember seeing Gates Brown ( I was collecting baseball cards by this age-10, I guess) from the limited view I had of the field. And Norm IforgetHisLastName (On preview: CASH!).But the Mets game at Shea was a beautiful bright vividly sunny day, and when I emerged from the dark tunnel, I could swear on a stack of bibles, that the Mets caps had a little orange flame on them! I will never forget this. Never.Anyways, not having a color TV until I was a newly fresh teen has heavily influenced my love and need for color. Not that I don't appreciate B&W photos, especially old ones circa 1920-1950. But I'll even look at them and think:"I wish that was in color"....Me thinks Big Al has influenced my writing. Don't worry, it'll pass.
Guest 86-Dreamer Guests Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 O'Neill says this belt makes me look fatter than a first pitch changeup.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Yeah Mel, while your rep isn't the greatest around these parts, but you are in the right club. Looking for another guy though in the same room as I am though.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 ^WOW!What a GREAT photo of Franco. Thank you for making that mine.OE: That's so awesome I wanna draw that and I haven't drawn anything of note for over 20 years.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 I see all you writers who didn’t vote for me. Don’t make me sic my alpacas on your ass in the coming years!Either way, John-Boy and K-Rod are the only members allowed in the 400 Room!
