Guest 41Forever Guests Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 Good one! The White Sox retired Mark Buehrle's number.

I think retired numbers are becoming seriously devalued. I'm glad the Mets have showed restraint.
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 I think the Indians retired Frank Robinson's number as a manager. I think he was a middling manager for them, but I suspect they are saluting his role a pioneer.

FYI, out of the White Sox' 11 retired numbers, Buerhle is the 5th that is currently on the outside looking in of Cooperstown. The other 4 are #9 Minnie Minoso, #19 Billy Pierce, #3 Harold Baines and #14 Paul Konerko.

Other than Jackie Robinson, second to have his number retired by three teams, though the only one to have the same number across the board.

A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 Indians - Omar Vizquel?

I'd be in favor of the Mets retiring David Wright's number, and his Hall of Fame chances have become extremely thin.
