Update and hints

This year 6 numbers were retired:

_____ MFYs
David Ortiz DH #34 Boston Red Sox (HahnSolo)
Mark Buehrle SP #56 Chicago White Sox (41Forever)
Ivan Rodriguez C #7 Texas Rangers (41Forever)
_____ Seattle Mariners (Hint, could make Cooperstown this year)
Frank Robinson Mgr #20 Cleveland Indians (41Forever)

There were 13 additions to various team HOFs

_____ St Louis Cardinals (Hint, Gashouse Gang legend)
_____ St Louis Cardinals (Hint, became quite annoying starting in the 1990s)
_____ St Louis Cardinals (Hint, HIGHLY controversial pick)
_____ Minnesota Twins (Met connection)
_____ Minnesota Twins (Not directly, but has MFY connections)
_____ Washington Nationals (Never actually played a game in the city of Washington)
_____ Washington Nationals (Was a Nat for only two years)
_____ Milwaukee Brewers (I honestly don't know...maybe he's a Tim Bogar like guy for the 2000s Brewers? Did make two ASGs though)
_____ Brewers's Braves Roll of Honor (Star of the 1957-1958 WS)
_____ MFYs
_____ Anaheim Angels (Could be in Cooperstown this summer)
_____ San Francisco Giants (Very controversial)
_____ San Diego Padres (He was a trader)

Bonus, there was a team that had a HOF enshrinement announced, but had to rescind it close to the date of the ceremony. Name the team and person.
Pete Rose 1B Philadelphia Phillies (HahnSolo)

There have been 8 new statues installed in and outside stadiums

_____ Atlanta Braves (A new variation on a classic)
_____ Atlanta Braves (Non player)
_____ Cleveland Indians (Non player)
_____ Cleveland Indians (HOFer)
Jackie Robinson 2B Los Angeles Dodgers (JCL)
_____ Minnesota Twins (Non player)
Ken Griffey, Jr OF Seattle Mariners (Edgy)
_____ Cincinnati Reds (Very controversial, even more so after the ceremony!)

Wrong Guesses:
Greg Maddux (Edgy) Number retired and inducted into Braves HOF back in 2009, same year his number was co-retired with Ferguson Jenkins by the Cubs.
Andy Pettitte (Edgy) MFY had number retired and Monument Park induction back in 2015
Omar Vizquel (ABS) Indians did induct him into their Hall back in 2014
Jim Thome (ABS) A year late, Indians inducted him to their Hall, and added a statue to Progressive Field's Heritage Park back in 2016. Phillies would do the same with their Wall of Honor the same year
Scott Rolen (Edgy) No team has sought to honor Rolen yet!
Michael Young (HahnSolo) Inducted into the Ranger Hall in 2016
Torri Hunter (HahnSolo) Inducted into the Twin Hall in 2016

Yup. Probably the two greatest DHs in history got their numbers retired in the same year!

Having scored with Ivan Rodriguez with the Rangers, I'll try him again with the Nationals as a team HOF inductee.

Yup, Pudge is on their Ring of Honor.

This one doesn't seem justified. Would be as if the Mets put Rickey Henderson in the team's Hall of Fame.

The rescinded HOF honor was the Phillies/Pete Rose.

Yup!

Why did they do this?

The Dodgers did a Jackie Robinson statue that's as good as any fake plaza with a stupid 42

I agree. I think the rational was that he “made it cool to come to the Nats” or something like that.

The other one is a bit more egregious!

The Yankee is Jeter right?

Rose's HOF induction was cancelled shortly after news of his promiscuity with underage girls as a player broke.

Oh, I forgot about that. Yep, that'll do it.

John Dowd works for President Trump, when most Washington attorneys wouldn't touch him, so I'm reluctant to endorse him for anything. And he's 76 now, and facts from days past tend to get rubbery as time recedes and arteries harden, but the Dowd Report is 28 years old, and in substance, it's held up. Every part of it.

That Rose's defense is reduced to arguing not against the basic facts of the case, which he acknowledges, but against nuance of what he knew and what state he was in, suggests he doesn't have a leg to stand on.

Need a ruling on my Jeter guess.

And while we are here... controversial SF Giant -- Barry Bonds?

I thought I said yes?

And yeah to Bonds being added to the Giants’ Wall of Honor.

But doesn't that only deal with his gambling?

I totally agree, as I said up there^. Well, kinda said.
I thought the Dowd thing just dealt with his gambling issues. Then after that we learned what a liar and BIG headed idiot he was.

Sure, but this is information that Dowd appears to have gotten as a sleezy little bonus during the gambling investigation. He may have even passed it on to authorities.

If all he did was pass it on to authorities, the proper thing to do, I would not be typing all this. But come on. Dropping a bomb that he was doing 12-14 year old kids flippantly on a radio talk show, and considering the timing, it's akin to propaganda.
I don't like Dowd. Not too thrilled with Petener either, but I have to respect his baseball accomplishments. And after '73 he'd have had to accomplished a lot to rise to any level of respect in my book.

I don't know. If you're confident in the information, and it's relevant to the question at hand, you share it. And as it turns that he has the source to back it up, I'm not sure what the problem is.

Then you're not reading what I type. Dowd should share his info through the proper channels, not as radio gossip. Maybe he did, and if he did I wouldn't be considering it to be gossip ( there's no evidence of that), but that radio thing, THE TIMING! Pete was just about to be allowed back into a baseball spotlight and Dowd smacks him down, while making it sound like the allegations of statutory rape were a side bar ("....isn't that lovely?").
