I just googled this. Considering how US culture was all OJ all the time for a good two years, I'm shocked I'd never heard his connection to the case before.

Two in a row for me but I'm leaving work RIGHT NOW!

The cat-like prowess of Andres Galarraga must have taken home the honors in 98.

This happened during the 1999 NLCS. No wonder it flew under your and my radar.

O.J. Simpson said Tuesday that a call he made to 911 to get help for a woman on cocaine turned into a big misunderstanding.

Simpson called 911 Sunday night, saying he was trying to get help for a woman he said had been on a two-day cocaine binge with former major league baseball player Pedro Guerrero.

The Leftovers...

1974: Hall of Famer -- you can steal this
1994: Future Met; got around; second-generation outfielder
2002: The Mets sort of tried to sign him not long after this particular season
2004: The guy best known for who he didn't play for (also played vs the Mets in two postseason with other teams)
2005: Defense may as well have been his middle name -- it was his calling card
2009: Played in the 2017 postseason, though not with this team (we didn't care for him when he was in the NL East)
2010: That pitcher who won NL East MVP in consecutive years
2011: That pitcher whose name was recently in the news
2012: The shared award between the Met and the Met-killer (one of whom is definitely no longer active)

I will say that I wouldn't have gotten the 2004 guy had it been, uh, drawn up for me.

The 2009 guy used to be synonymous with his NL East team, which used to have a slightly different identity.

2012 was shared. Two guys. ONE OF THEM A MET.

All we need to wrap this up is 2004 (and you may have to be related to Nancy Drew to figure it out) and the co-winner from 2012, who went on to be known as quite the father figure.

Yes, J.D. Drew, who snubbed the Phillies as an amateur, was a postseason opponent of the Mets as a Cardinal and Dodger and won a ring as a world champion Red Sock...he was the NL East MVP in his one year as a Brave, in 2004. Good timing, if that's what he was going for.
