The decisive rally started with a leadoff walk, was extended by Henriquez's two-out throwing error which brought in a run, continued with another walk, and climaxed with a two-run double that put the Tourists ahead. Brooklyn took a 6-4 lead in the top of the seventh when John Smith III's infield single was thrown away, allowing Trey Snyder to score. The Cyclones went up 4-1 in the fifth on a two-run homer by Henriquez, but Asheville tied the game in the bottom half with a pair of homers. Starter Ethan Lanthier went out for the fifth but allowed a single and a double to begin the inning. He got a popout for the first out, and then was replaced by Zack Mack, who promptly gave up a two-run double and a sacrifice fly to make it 5-0. Mack allowed a solo homer in the sixth to put the Flying Tigers up 6-0. Dillon Stiltner came on for the seventh and allowed the first five hitters to reach base. Two scored, one on a wild pitch. A fielder's choice brought in a third run, and then Stiltner issued a walk that ended his night. Ernesto Rodriguez came in and got a ground ball, but Vladi Gomez threw it away for an error that plated Lakeland's 10th run of the game. All four New York Mets minor-league affiliates went through a stretch Wednesday night in which they gave up a lead or allowed an opponent to break the game open. Only Binghamton overcame its meltdown. The Rumble Ponies blew a four-run lead in the fifth inning against Altoona, retook the lead in the bottom half, and then allowed a game-tying run in the sixth. They regained control for good with a four-run seventh, capped by Corey Collins' three-run homer. Binghamton went on to a 10-6 victory. Elsewhere in the organization: Syracuse lost to Worcester 9-7. Jonathan Santucci allowed six runs (all earned) over four-plus innings after being staked to a 5-1 lead. MJ Melendez and Hayden Senger homered. Brooklyn allowed three unearned runs in the seventh to blow a two-run lead and lost 7-6 to Asheville. Yonatan Henriquez hit a two-run homer. Starter Emilio Obispo allowed two earned runs and struck out six over 4 2/3 innings. St. Lucie endured another lopsided loss to Lakeland, this time 11-1. Kuhio Aloy drove in the Mets' only run. The bullpen surrendered seven runs over 4 1/3 innings. New York Mets Transactions New York Mets placed DH Jorge Polanco on the 10-day injured list. Left ankle bursitis. New York Mets optioned RHP Jack Weisenburger to Syracuse Mets. Santucci Falters, Syracuse Falls Santucci took a big lead into the fifth inning. He exited the frame five batters later without recording an out. Facing rehabbing major-leaguers and players with MLB experience, he allowed a walk, a single, a double, and two more singles before being replaced by Chris Devenski with Syracuse clinging to a 5-4 lead. The latter two hits went to rehabbing Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Trevor Story. Devenski struck out the first hitter he faced, but then gave up a three-run home run to rehabbing Romy Gonzalez to put Worcester ahead 7-5. Syracuse got a run back in the sixth when Nick Lorusso scored on a throwing error. After Worcester tacked on two runs in the eighth for a 9-6 lead, Morabito's second double of the game drove in Ramos in the bottom half. The Mets raced to a 3-0 lead in the first. Nick Morabito led off with a double, moved to third on a flyout, and scored on Ronny Mauricio's single. Melendez followed with his 15th homer of the season. They made it 5-0 in the fourth on Hayden Senger's two-run homer, his 10th round-tripper of the year. Zach Franklin pitched a perfect sixth and seventh. Matt Seelinger escaped a no-out, bases-loaded jam in the eighth without any more runs scoring. He went on to finish the game. Rojas will receive every chance to play regularly, given his prospect status. And, hey, Fonzie at his peak was one of the best players in the game. Pitre, to use a contemporary comp, is Luis Arraez with more speed and less pop. Mitch Voit would be my pick to displace Semien during the second half of next year.

The organization made more minor-league promotions this week. Among them were two trade deadline arrivals being bumped up to Triple-A Syracuse. Both played to type in their respective debuts for the Mets on Tuesday. Émilien Pitre had two hits and scored a run, and he put the ball in play all four times up. Billy Amick doubled in a tack-on run in the eighth, but before that, he had struck out three times. They were among the many contributors to a 5-1 victory over Worcester. The Mets got five hitless innings from Xzavion Curry and a third-inning home run from Ronny Mauricio to establish an early advantage. Mauricio doubled in a run in the fifth to put Syracuse ahead 4-0. Elsewhere in the organization: Binghamton rallied for two runs in the bottom of the ninth to defeat Altoona 4-3. Jefferson Rojas tied the game with a double, and Chris Suero won it with a sacrifice fly. Brooklyn got two home runs from John Spikerman and 5 2/3 strong innings from starter Nicolas Carreno in 9-1 rout of Asheville. Spikerman’s second homer broke the game open in the seventh. St. Lucie fell 10-1 to Lakeland. Justin Hagenman allowed a run and struck out three over 2 1/3 innings in a rehab start. Ryan Tayman drove in the Mets’ run with a sac fly in the fourth. Image courtesy of Binghamton Rumble Ponies We're now more than two weeks removed from the MLB trade deadline, and the New York Mets organization is making aggressive moves with two of the prospects it acquired in its summer sell-off. Interestingly, the prospect you’d most expect to be moving up didn’t. The Mets promoted infielders Billy Amick and Emilien Pitre from Double-A Binghamton to Triple-A Syracuse on Monday. Infielder Jefferson Rojas, the top-100 player acquired from the Chicago Cubs in the Clay Holmes-Tyrone Taylor deal, stayed at Binghamton. Age had to play a role in the decision: Amick and Pitre are 23 and have major college experience, while Rojas is a 21-year-old international signee. New York acquired 11 minor-leaguers in the six trades they made over a 72-hour period at the start of August. Grand Central Mets offers initial impressions of these three, the most advanced hitters of the group: Jefferson Rojas Rojas has been merely a cog in Binghamton’s offensive machine, but he's not slowing it down. He’s slashing .263/.333/.447 (106 wRC+) after 10 games, with a home run and four extra-base hits. Three of those XBHs came in one game. While the slug may be spotty, it's real. Rojas has produced 16 home runs and 39 extra-base hits in 101 games between Binghamton and Double-A Knoxville, both career highs. Another big plus: his strikeout and walk rates are both at 10.2 percent at Binghamton, in line with his career numbers. He has an 81.0 percent contact rate and a 9.0 swinging strike rate since joining the Mets' organization. As he grows and learns, his command of the zone should help him unlock more thump. And he will need to find more, because third base is already calling Rojas away from shortstop. The Mets have started him four times at third and twice each at short and second since acquiring him. He played twice as much third as short with Knoxville this year. For now, he’s forming a dynamic infield duo at Binghamton with Mitch Voit and giving Mets fans visions of a young star tandem blossoming in the next year or two. Billy Amick His power surge is real, but what's also clear is that Amick is a classic all-or-nothing slugger. He has unlocked his power in his third pro season after totaling seven homers the first two years. He leaves Binghamton tied for the Double-A home run lead with 30 total. His seven dingers in 12 games for the Rumble Ponies powered a .304/.396/.763 slash line (1.179 OPS, 199 wRC+). The swing strategy is clear: lift and separate. He produced a 59.3 percent fly-ball rate with Binghamton, almost nine percentage points higher than his rate at Wichita. His pull-air rate with Wichita was in the 92nd percentile, according to Prospect Savant. Interestingly, his overall pull rate dropped sharply with Binghamton, from 48.1 percent to 29.6 percent, per Fangraphs, while his center-field rate jumped from 23.8 percent to 44.4 percent. But more than any changes in his swing habits, we have to address the strikeout issues. In ’24 and ’25, he punched out at a 27.7 percent rate (95 in 343 PAs); this year, it’s 29.3 percent (127 in 433 PAs combined). At Triple-A, he’ll face... maybe not the best pitching talent in a system, but enough quality arms to expose him. There’s no mystery with Amick: it’s the three true outcomes of home run, walk, and strikeout (32 combined in 54 PAs with Binghamton). The Mets’ organization is challenging him to expand his horizons and shrink his zone in the final month of the Triple-A season. If he does make progress, he’ll make life more uncomfortable for Ryan Clifford, who’s sporting a 54 wRC+ and 38.1 percent K-rate. Emilien Pitre Saying Pitre is the anti-Amick is trite, but accurate. He struck out four times in 44 plate appearances for Binghamton (9.1 percent), and his .375 slugging percentage was entirely the product of a .375 batting average, because he had zero extra-base hits in 10 games. But that contact is just too enticing. An 87.1 percent contact rate with the Rumble Ponies, which was slightly down from his 89.4 percent rate with Double-A Montgomery, is hard to pass up on. His 5.9 percent swinging strike percentage was higher, too, but it was still less than half Amick’s 12.6 percent. And the quality of Pitre’s contact could not be more different. He produced a 54.1 percent ground-ball rate and a 43.2 opposite-field rate with Binghamton. He was at 52.3 percent ground balls with Montgomery. Both ground-ball figures are sharply higher than his A-ball percentages. Then there’s the speed. His stolen base total has slowed at Double-A, with 12 in 47 games as compared to 21 in 51 games at High-A, but it’s clear he has wheels. Mets team president David Stearns reached for speed and up-the-middle skill in several deadline trades. Pitre was one of them, and his talents in those fields could land him a role with the big-club sooner than later. View full article

We're now more than two weeks removed from the MLB trade deadline, and the New York Mets organization is making aggressive moves with two of the prospects it acquired in its summer sell-off. The New York Mets are breaking up the M, M & M Boys at Syracuse. Christopher Morel is being promoted to the big club. He'll have his contract purchased ahead of New York's home game Monday night against the San Diego Padres, journalist Mike Rodriguez and Metsmerized Online reported Sunday night, Morel did not play in Syracuse's 2-1 victory over Jacksonville on Sunday evening. The move is a recognition of Morel's slugging at Triple-A. The 27-year-old utility man hit 12 home runs and compiled a 1.098 OPS in 123 plate appearances over 31 games for Syracuse after signing a minor-league contract with the Mets on July 1. He, Ronny Mauricio and MJ Melendez formed a powerful trio. Morel played five positions for Syracuse (first base, second base, third base, left field and right field), and it's expected New York will use him in a similar fashion. The bottom line is, if he hits, he'll play. Elsewhere in the organization: Binghamton got a tie-breaking two-run single from Marco Vargas in the eighth inning to beat Portland 8-6. Vargas finished 4-for-5 with a home run, four RBIs and two runs scored. Brooklyn was held to one hit in a 1-0 loss to Jersey Shore. The only run scored on an infield single in the eighth inning. Daviel Hurtado allowed one hit over seven scoreless frames. St. Lucie lost to Jupiter 7-3. Kuhio Aloy homered twice for the Mets. Starter Will Watson threw three scoreless innings in his third appearance back from an oblique injury that kept him out for three months. The Mets’ Dominican Summer League clubs were off. The regular season ends Tuesday. Dan Hammer followed with a scoreless sixth. He became the pitcher of record when the Mets took the lead a half-inning later. Brian Metoyer worked a scoreless bottom of the seventh. Dylan Ross then retired all six batters he faced for his fourth save. Zack Short started the winning rally with a leadoff single. Ronny Mauricio followed with a single that moved Short to third. Nick Morabito walked to load the bases with nobody out. Eric Wagaman then hit a fly ball to center to score Short. Syracuse opened the scoring in the second. Hayden Senger delivered a two-out single to drive in Jose Ramos. Jacksonville answered in the bottom half with a solo home run. Ryan Clifford had a game to forget. Jose Chirinos has been steady since being promoted to High-A Brooklyn in early June. On Saturday, the right-hander from Venezuela was stellar. He turned in his longest outing of the season, 6 2/3 innings, as he blanked Jersey Shore on two hits. He walked none and struck out five in a no-decision. As always, efficiency was the key: he threw 54 of his 82 pitches for strikes. The 21-year-old has now worked at least five innings in nine of his 12 starts for Brooklyn, which is significant in a time of bullpenning and piggybacking. He went six innings twice for Single-A St. Lucie in May. Overall, he is up to 101 1/3 innings over 21 games (19 starts). He sports a 3.38 ERA (4.09 RA/9), 1.23 WHIP and 25.6 percent strikeout rate. The Cyclones won 1-0 with a run in the bottom of the eighth. Elsewhere in the organization . . . Syracuse edged Jacksonville 4-3. MJ Melendez’s solo home run in the eighth inning was the difference. Ronny Mauricio and Christopher Morel also homered. Binghamton got back on track with a 14-3 rout of Portland. Jefferson Rojas drove in two runs, and Mitch Voit reached base five times one night after the Rumble Ponies’ winning streak ended at 10. St. Lucie lost 3-1 to Jupiter. Aiden Robbins continued to shine at the start of his pro career as he homered for the Mets’ lone run. DSL Mets Blue lost 11-4 to the DSL NYY Yankees. Adrian De La Rosa drove in three runs. Friday was a bust for the New York Mets' minor-league system, All four full-season affiliates lost, Syracuse fell twice as it lost the completion of Thursday's suspended game and then the regular game Friday. The bright spots were a handful of strong pitching performances. The best one was Luke Gabrysh's four-inning start for High-A Brooklyn against Jersey Shore. He allowed no runs and one hit, struck out six and walked none. He threw 39 of his 56 pitches for strikes. Familiarity may have played a role. Gabrysh pitched for Jersey Shore before the Mets acquired him from the Philadelphia Phillies' organization prior to the Aug. 3 trade deadline in the Brooks Raley deal. Still, he has shown that he can dominate. The most intriguing indicator is his 30.8 percent strikeout rate. On the flip side, he has a 10.7 percent walk rate and a 3.3 percent home run rate. All those rates combine for a FIP close to 5.00. Luis R. Rodriguez replaced Gabrysh in the fifth and promptly allowed two unearned runs. They proved to be the difference in a 2-1 Cyclones loss. Elsewhere in the organization . . . Syracuse lost Thursday's suspended game to Jacksonville 4-2, and then lost the regular game 7-2. The regular contest was shortened to seven innings because of the completion. Shawn Ross and Nick Morabito drove in the Mets' runs in the seventh. Binghamton's winning streak ended at 10 with a 10-3 loss to Portland. Noah Hall took a beating. He allowed eight runs (all earned) and 11 hits over 3 2/3 innings. St. Lucie lost 3-2 to Jupiter. Dylan Carey hit his first professional home run, a two-run blast in the seventh inning that accounted for the Mets' scoring. DSL Mets Blue lost 18-17 in 10 innings to the DSL Nationals in a game that lasted six hours and two minutes. The Mets drew 21 walks in the game. Oscar Pena drew six of them. Jesus Minaya had two hits, two RBIs and three runs scored. DSL Mets Orange shut out the DSL Marlins on two hits 3-0. Abner Meza (five innings) and Esteban Mejia (two innings) each allowed a hit. The Mets stole seven bases in the game. New York Mets Transactions No Roster Moves Syracuse Goes Quietly As It Loses Twice Syracuse managed just three hits in the regular game, and its runs in the seventh were scored without the benefit of a hit. MJ Melendez, Eric Wagaman, and Ryan Clifford drew consecutive walks to load the bases. After a strikeout, Shawn Ross was hit by a pitch to force in Melendez, and leadoff man Nick Morabito lifted a sacrifice fly to score Wagaman. A strikeout ended the game. Zach Peek started and took the loss. The big hit against him was a three-run homer with two out in the second inning. Matt Seelinger gave Syracuse 1 1/3 hitless scoreless innings of relief. The surge is a welcome development for the 22-year-old corner infielder, who appeared to be on the fast track after his 61-game stretch at Binghamton last year (.853 OPS, nine home runs). He stumbled through the first 2 1/2 months this year before going on the injured list in mid-June with a groin tweak. He's up to a .729 OPS and seven homers in 57 games for the Rumble Ponies. His contribution Thursday was also important because he's fighting a few newcomers for at-bats on a suddenly stacked infield. Top prospect Jefferson Rojas and slugging Billy Amick were acquired around the trade deadline. Corey Collins came up from Brooklyn last month. All have been making an impact with the Ponies. Elsewhere in the organization: Syracuse's game at Jacksonville was suspended in the top of the fifth inning because of rain, with the Mets trailing 3-2. Zack Short was on third base with one out and Vidal Brujan was at the plate with a 2-0 count when play was halted. The game will be completed Friday, beginning at 5:05 p.m. The clubs' regularly scheduled game will follow. Brooklyn scored three runs in the seventh inning and two more in the eighth to beat Jersey Shore 6-1. Daiverson Gutierrez broke a 1-1 tie with an RBI double in the seventh. The bullpen gave up one hit over five scoreless innings. St. Lucie scored all its runs in the final three innings as it defeated Jupiter 7-2. Ethan Lanthier struck out nine over 3 2/3 innings and Elian Pena homered for the third time in the series. DSL Mets Orange shut out DSL Giants Black 3-0. Maxgregori Harvey and Olmedo Barria combined on a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts. DSL Mets Blue lost a 16-10 slugfest to the DSL White Sox. Adrian La Rosa had three hits and three RBIs. He was hooked after throwing 36 pitches (19 strikes). He was charged with two runs (one earned) on one hit and three walks. Reimer Caps Binghamton's Comeback The Rumble Ponies overcame an early deficit with a pair of three-run innings. They took the lead with three in the fifth and then added on with Reimer's homer. Corey Collins started the fifth-inning rally by drawing a walk. D'Andre Smith doubled to move him to third. Kevin Parada lined a single to right to score Collins. A throwing error on the play allowed Smith to score and move Parada up to second. Mitch Voit reached on a fielding error that moved Parada to third. Marco Vargas bunted into a fielder's choice, switching places with Voit. Vargas then stole second, and Parada scored on an error by Portland's catcher. Dakota Hawkins and Zach Conley piggybacked the start. Each went three innings, Hawkins was touched up for two runs on four hits, while Conley allowed two hits and no walks over three scoreless frames. Jacob Reimer caught the hitting bug that has been going around at Binghamton. On Thursday, it was his turn to make an opponent sick. Reimer launched a three-run home run in the seventh inning to break open the Rumble Ponies' 10th consecutive victory, a 6-2 triumph over Portland. It was his first long ball since returning from a rehab assignment at High-A Brooklyn on Aug. 4. But even without much slug (two extra-base hits), he has been productive at the plate. He has driven in runs in six of seven games, and the homer gave him 10 RBIs in that stretch. He's up to .300 (9-for-30) after a third consecutive two-hit night. The next batter, Wagaman, hit a solo shot to stretch the lead to 10-8. That long ball proved to be vital. Zach Franklin gave up a home run in the bottom half to cut the advantage to 10-9. MJ Melendez and Zack Short also homered for the Mets. Joe Jacques was credited with the win despite allowing two runs (both earned), a hit and three walks in the eighth. It may have only been in a mid-August minor-league game, but Christopher Morel and Eric Wagaman stuck it to one of their former organizations Wednesday night. The Miami Marlins castoffs hit back-to-back home runs in the top of the ninth inning to rally Syracuse to a 10-9 victory over the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, the Fish’s Triple-A affiliate. The jacks rescued the Mets after they blew a four-run lead in the bottom of the eighth. The Marlins signed Morel as a free agent last Dec. 18 with the idea of trying him at first base. They released him from Jacksonville’s roster on June 26. The Mets signed him to a minor-league contract five days later, and he has responded with 11 home runs in 28 games while filling a super utility role. He has now started at five different positions for them after playing right field Wednesday, adding to first base, second base, third base and left field. Miami traded Wagaman to the Minnesota Twins on Jan. 2. The Mets claimed him off waivers from Minnesota on April 27. He has appeared in 23 games with New York, seeing time at all four corners. Elsewhere in the organization: Binghamton made it nine wins in a row with a 13-5 rout of Portland. Jefferson Rojas drove in three runs, Émilien Pitre and D’Andre Smith each drove in two, and Chris Suero and Billy Amick homered. Brooklyn lost 4-3 in 11 innings at home to Jersey Shore. The Cyclones tied the game in the ninth and 10th. Daiverson Gutierrez had three hits and two RBIs. Starter Emilio Obispo threw five scoreless innings. St. Lucie lost 16-8 to Jupiter after leading 8-7. The Hammerheads scored two runs in the sixth and seven in the eighth. Aiden Robbins, the Mets’ third-round selection in this year’s MLB Draft, had two hits and drove in three runs. New York Mets Transactions No Roster Moves Syracuse Captures Wild Win In Jacksonville The Mets were down 8-7 in the ninth when Ronny Mauricio doubled with one out and Morel followed with a two-run blast to left. The next batter, Wagaman, hit a solo shot to stretch the lead to 10-8. That long ball proved to be vital. Zach Franklin gave up a home run in the bottom half to cut the advantage to 10-9. He later stranded the potential winning run at second base to record his first save with Syracuse. Wagaman had two doubles in addition to his home run. MJ Melendez and Zack Short also homered for the Mets. Joe Jacques was credited with the win despite allowing two runs (both earned), a hit and three walks in the eighth. Starter Jack Wenninger allowed three runs (two earned) on two hits, walked four and struck out eight over five innings. Chris Devenski marked his return to the Mets' organization by pitching a scoreless seventh. The other runs in the inning came on a sacrifice fly by Smith, a double by Yohairo Cuevas, a single by Pitre and a sac fly by Rojas. Portland cut the deficit to 8-4 in the fifth, but Binghamton answered in the sixth with a second five-spot. Pitre and Rojas had RBI singles, and then Amick belted a three-run homer to make it 13-4. Starter Gary Gill Hill improved to 2-0 with Binghamton thanks to that run support. He didn't need to be great, and he wasn't. Jersey Shore tied the game in the eighth with the aid of a passed ball by Gutierrez. The misplay moved the runner up to second base with two out. A balk moved him to third, and then a single brought him in. The Blue Claws took the lead in the ninth on a two-out error by first baseman Chase Meggers. Brooklyn forced extras in the bottom half with a sacrifice fly by Yonatan Henriquez, scoring Aidan Smith. After the teams traded runs in the 10th --- Gutierrez doubled home Colin Houck for Brooklyn's tally --- Jersey Shore went ahead when Houck couldn't come up with a grounder with two out. But the Mets gave the lead right back in the bottom half with the aid of an error. Left fielder Kuhio Aloy dropped a fly ball with two out, and the next batter hit a two-run home run off Jose Lopez to put Jupiter ahead 9-8. The Hammerheads roughed up Brett Banks and Caden Wooster in the eighth to pull away. The Mets stole seven bases in the game. It's difficult to not write about the Binghamton Rumble Ponies these days. There's so much to cover with this team. There were three discussion topics from their 16-4 drubbing of Portland on Tuesday alone. The first: Binghamton has now won eight in a row, and it is smothering opponents, with a plus-47 run differential (68-21) during the streak. The Rumble Ponies scored four runs in the second inning and seven more in the sixth Tuesday to put the game away. The second: Jefferson Rojas homered for the first time with Binghamton and drove in three runs. He finished a triple shy of the cycle. The organization's biggest trade-deadline acquisition has had three hits in two of his last three games. The third: RJ Gordon put together his third consecutive quality start, and this one might have been the best. He allowed one earned run over seven innings, walked one, struck out seven, and threw 65 of his 95 pitches for strikes. The club isn't close to Eastern League second-half pennant contention. It's six games out of first place at 18-22. But it's playing like a club that can make a huge run in the final month. Elsewhere in the organization: Syracuse hit four home runs as it defeated Jacksonville 6-3. MJ Melendez, Vidal Brujan, Andy Ibáñez and Nick Morabito went deep. Jonah Tong was inefficient in a no-decision. Brooklyn shut out Jersey Shore 4-0. Nicolas Carreno and three relievers combined on a three-hitter. Ronald Hernandez provided the offense with a third-inning grand slam. St. Lucie lost to Jupiter 3-2. Elian Pena hit two solo home runs for the Mets’ offense. Conner Ware took the loss after giving up a go-ahead, two-run homer in the eighth inning. DSL Mets Blue lost 9-3 to DSL Rangers Blue in a game shortened to six innings because of rain. Yeremy Reyes had two hits, an RBI and a run scored. DSL Mets Orange lost 9-1 to DSL Giants Black. Dayron Oramas drove in the Mets’ run. New York Mets Transactions No Roster Moves Home Runs Carry Syracuse Past Jacksonville The Mets went deep in four consecutive innings to take command. Melendez hit a solo shot in the fourth to give them a 2-1 lead. Bruján connected on a two-run blast in the fifth for a 4-1 advantage. Ibáñez homered in the sixth to make it 5-1. Morabito led off the seventh with a solo shot to put Syracuse up 6-1. The only Mets run that didn't come via the home run scored when Melendez tripled home Ryan Clifford in the second inning. Tong needed 94 pitches to get through four innings on a night where the gametime temperature was 97 degrees. He allowed just one run on four hits, but he walked four and struck out six. He threw 53 strikes and 41 balls. The run came on a home run in the second inning. That left the Mets' bullpen to get the final 15 outs. Austin Warren struck out the side in a perfect fifth inning, which earned him the win. Matt Turner gave up two runs in 1 1/3 innings. Brian Metoyer got the last two outs of the seventh. There's no hotter team in the New York Mets' organzation than the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, and that includes the suddenly scorching big-league club. Binghamton has won seven in a row after completing a six-game sweep of Hartford. The Ponies posted a 4-3 triumph over the Yard Goats in the series finale Sunday, capping a week in which they won 23-3 and 1-0 on consecutive nights. Binghamton outscored Hartford 43-13 overall, a margin skewed by the 20-run win, but the 2.2 runs allowed per game was legit. The Rumble Ponies went with a piggyback pitching tandem of Channing Austin and Cristofer Gomez on Sunday, and the strategy worked exceptionally well, The two held Hartford to one run and one hit -- a solo home run -- over the first five innings, with nine strikeouts and no walks. Those two were long gone from the game when Billy Amick hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth to break a 1-1 tie. Amick has hit five home runs in seven games with Binghamton since being acquired from the Minnesota Twins in the A.J. Minter trade. Elsewhere in the organization: Syracuse lost 5-4 to Columbus. The Mets stranded the winning run on first in the bottom of the ninth. Nick Lorusso homered and drove in three runs. His RBI single in the ninth cut the deficit to one. Brooklyn broke a tie with two runs in the top of the ninth and went on to beat Wilmington 8-6. Trey Snyder and Yonatan Henriquez notched the deciding RBIs for the Cyclones. St. Lucie dropped a 5-4 decision to Daytona. The Mets trailed 5-0 before getting on the board. Kuhio Aloy and Simon Juan each drove in two runs. New York Mets Transactions New York Mets selected the contract of RHP Jack Weisenburger from Syracuse Mets. New York Mets optioned RHP Xzavion Curry to Syracuse Mets. Syracuse Gets Big Day From Lorusso In Loss Lorusso gave the Mets a 2-0 lead in the second with a two-run homer to left-center. He drove in Christopher Morel ahead of him. Morel singled with one out. Columbus answered with a run in the third, two runs in the fourth, and two more in the fifth to take a 5-2 lead. Syracuse got a run back in the bottom of the fifth when Ryan Clifford was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in Andy Ibáñez. The Mets trimmed the deficit to 5-4 in the ninth when Ibáñez doubled and Lorusso singled him home. Clifford struck out looking with runners on first and second to end the game. Jefferson Rojas needed a few days, but he has now delivered his first big moment as a Mets prospect. The top-100 infielder lashed a go-ahead, two-run triple in the bottom of the eighth inning Saturday to push Double-A Binghamton to a come-from-behind 6-4 victory over Hartford. The hit completed a 3-for-4, three-RBI night. Rojas was 1-for-11 in his first three games with the club after being acquired from the Chicago Cubs at the trade deadline for Clay Holmes and Tyrone Taylor. Rojas played third base and batted third, behind two other newcomers: shortstop Mitch Voit (promoted from High-A Brooklyn) and second baseman Emilien Pitre (acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays in the Freddy Peralta trade). The three combined for seven hits and four runs scored to go with Rojas’ RBIs. Another recent infield arrival, Billy Amick (acquired from the Minnesota Twins), hit a two-run homer, his fourth dinger in six games. Add in holdovers Jacob Reimer and Marco Vargas, both ranked in Grand Central Mets’ soon-to-be-updated Top 20, and the Ponies have some serious horsepower on the dirt. Elsewhere in the organization: We’re switching up the usual order to highlight Mets DSL Blue’s 5-0, seven-inning no-hitter against DSL Giants Black. Josbel Torrez (three innings) and Esteban Mejia (four innings) combined on it. It wasn’t the cleanest no-no; the two issued three walks and hit a batter between them, and another batter reached on an error. It still counts. The Mets took the lead with three runs in the top of the fifth. Royner Bravo hit a two-run triple, and Michalle Mercedes drove in Bravo with another triple. The Mets added on in the seventh. Jesus Minaya hit a solo home run and Frank Moreno hit an RBI single. Syracuse out-slugged Columbus 13-7. Ronny Mauricio went 4-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, five RBIs and four runs scored. Jose Ramos homered twice. Brooklyn lost a doubleheader at Wilmington, 6-5 and 4-0. Sammy Stafura and Aidan Smith combined for five hits, four runs and three RBIs in Game 1. Brooklyn had three hits in Game 2. St. Lucie split a doubleheader with Daytona, winning the opener 3-1 and losing the nightcap 15-7. Julio Zayas provided the offense in Game 1 with a three-run home run in the fourth inning. He ended his night as a mop-up reliever in Game 2. Mets DSL Orange edged the DSL Angels 3-2. Cesar Acosta’s RBI single in the fifth proved to be the game-winning hit. Mets Transactions New York Mets claimed 3B Gabriel Arias off waivers from Cleveland Guardians. New York Mets activated 3B Gabriel Arias. New York Mets optioned 1B Eric Wagaman to Syracuse Mets. Mauricio, Ramos Power Syracuse Rout Mauricio and Ramos were at the center of the Mets' offense for most of the night. In the first inning, Mauricio hit a laser to right for a solo home run and a 1-0 Mets lead. Four St. Lucie pitchers combined on a seven-hit effort.
