  1. I've been working on my word of the day. Yesterday's was "bleak," but today I'm leaning toward "dreary."
  2. Frayed Knot wrote: I don't want to know what a Sod Poodle is. Lots of minor league teams now have those two-word, wonky marketing department-created names that exist more to sell merchandise than to actually mean anything. Sod Poodles Trash Pandas Jumbo Shrimp Rumble Ponies Etc.
  3. New day, new hints added.
  4. On the bright side, the last time the Mets started a season 16-18, they ended up having a winning season (2019). So all hope is not lost.
  5. So it's going to be that kind of year, huh.
  6. It's always an adventure.
  7. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: People think Diaz is still Diaz Diaz hasn't been Diaz since Seattle. He's still very good, but remember he sucked in 2019, was just decent in 2021, was great in 2020 but with a 60-game season it's hard to compare that to his other campaigns and he missed 2023...so basically, he had 2022.
  8. He's not really putting the "win" in Edwin, is he?
  9. Tim Bogar is managing the Amarillo Sod Poodles.
  10. He's not looking good so far today, but he's Reed Garrett Jr. so far for the season: 5.1 IP, 10 K, 0.00 ERA.
  11. For those interested: "Senga (shoulder) completed a 32-pitch live batting practice session Saturday, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports. Advice: Facing hitters in extended live BP session marks a major milestone in Senga's recovery from a right posterior shoulder capsule strain, which caused him to miss most of spring training and resulted in him opening the season on the 15-day injured list before he was shifted to the 60-day IL on April 10. He won't be eligible to make his season debut until May 27, but Senga appears on target to return on or around that date based on where he currently stands in his recovery. The Mets will see how he bounces back from Saturday's throwing session over the next couple of days before deciding whether he's ready to report to a minor-league affiliate to begin a rehab assignment, or if he'll need to throw another live BP before doing so." --Rotowire.com via Yahoo
  12. Tomas Nido. There is nothing neato about that guy coming to the plate.
  13. The reality is Alonso is a large, high-strikeout, high-power, low-average guy. They shine bright for a few years, then they collapse. Which is why you never see those .230 guys who are "on pace" for 500 home runs at 28 never actually get there, because they totally fall apart. Alonso's demise is inevitable...but hopefully this isn't it.
  14. His 0.5 WAR with the Mets this year has brought his career WAR up to ... 0.1.
  15. Jorge Lopez has far exceeded my expectations thus far.
  16. I think "Drive Drunk and get stuffed in a trunk" would be more effective, with the ad ending with the visual of the back of a hearse shutting. "Drive with alcohol in your veins and they'll soon be power-washing your brains" might be a good one.

  18. While we're watching the Mets sputter as they try to put together a solid team, make sure to https://phpbb3.leaptoad.com/mets/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=32840&start=625Guess that Met as there is a backlog of questions.
  19. Whatever DJ said to Pete didn't work "Trust me, Pete, I'm a .218 career hitter."
  20. =Cowtipper post_id=154354 time=1714935791 user_id=166] Bases loaded, one out: Potentially bleak (as is Mets fashion).

  22. The Mets have scored. Adequately anti-bleak.
  23. Edgy MD wrote: A dropped popup and an old-timey astroturf single and the Mets have first-and-third on what should well have been two-outs. Typical Mets fashion! Acceptably non-bleak.
  24. Siri's fielding is bleak.
