  9. TransMonk wrote: I've never seen a Brewer booed as hard in Milwaukee as Gagne was in the 8th. Milwaukee fans aren't used to paying 10 million per yer to a player, and when they do, they expect him to perform. I saw a funny bumpersticker in Massachusetts last week that was apparently a holdover from last year: 'GAGNE IS A YANKEE SPY'

  14. Wow. Just wow.
  15. Cubs 3, Phillies 2, top 8. HA!
  16. Philly bullpen coming down with a touch of some Mets-itis. Glad to see its contagious.
  17. I like Wayne too and am more than a little surprised to see that some people don't. I think he fits right in with Howie, Gary, Keith and Ron in terms of knowledgable guys that don't have schtick and forego the hyberpole and homerism that is sooooo freaking prevalent across town, in favor of just giving me the facts ma'am and trying to stay objective. The guy knows the game, has a good wit and can call a ballgame. Keep him.
  18. Not Citifield but a pretty cool thing..Sports Illustrated photo technology

  20. Excellent! I just saw on the ESPN scroll that is was 4-1 Phillies in the 8th. Fman puts me in a much better mood.
  21. TransMonk wrote: ="batmagadanleadoff"] This does not bode well for Johan, tomorrow. ="Edgy DC"] Re-attachment surgery successful. These sentences should not be so close to each other in a Johan thread. I had about 3.5 seconds of nauseous panic as I was skimming the page before I realized the context. Visions of Bobby Ojeda?

  24. The biggest thing for me was just adjusting to the velocity, of seeing 90 to 92 [MPH] every day, said Doyle. You see that speed in college, but just not as much, and here you see it every day. I'm sure he means when batting but I wonder if catching pitchers that throw that hard everyday takes an adjustment as well. In college players use metal bats, so Doyle is also getting used to using wooden bats in professional baseball. It was a little bit of an adjustment, he said. But I had used them in summer ball. Why? Are the wooden bats lighter? Heavier?
  25. That looks nothing like Dave Magadan. It actually looks a little like Tom Hanks.
