  6. I hadn't heard the Curt Schilling quote on Bonds before Gary just repeated it - "He's cheated on his wife, he's cheated on his taxes, he's cheated on the game." Bam.

  12. Today's NYTimes... INSIDE PITCH Carlos BeltrÁn (sore left quadriceps) and Moises Alou (left knee) returned to the lineup. Alou, out since Thursday, batted cleanup, moving Carlos Delgado to fifth. ... Omar Minaya said that Orlando HernÁndez was progressing well in his recovery from shoulder bursitis, but that Jorge Sosa would receive at least two more starts in Hernández’s place. ...The Mets are on the verge of adding to their minor league pitching depth by signing the right-hander Brian Lawrence. The 30-year-old Lawrence missed last season after shoulder surgery. When the contract is completed, Lawrence, who is 49-61 with a 4.10 earned run average in five major league seasons with San Diego, will report to Class AAA New Orleans.
  13. I agree with Namor. This chick will have a hard time making her case. Unless she and her lawyer have lots of very believable witnesses corroborating, how the hell can they prove anything? 'A big fat guy fell on you, sorry but that's not our fault.'
  14. Did he say heartstrings or pursestrings?

Happened to Spahn, happened to Carlton, it's happening right now to Randy Johnson. Can't wait for Clemens to suck, and take the Yankees with him. I totally agree. At some point Clemens IS going to start pitching like the mid-40's fat guy that he is. I hope to pieces that that time has come. The stumbling, bumbling, pitching starved Yankees give a a prorated $28 million dollar deal (and don't forget the luxury tax penalty) to a 45 year-old pitcher who then goes out and pitches like he's 45? A Yankee hater couldn't ask for more.

  19. I cut school in junior high to go to Macy's on 34th street because Johnny Bench was signing copies of his autobiography 'Catch You Later'. In the book he wrote about how he practiced his signature when he was a kid in case he became a famous baseball player. He signed my book To Nick - Catch Ya Later, Johnny Bench It's a great signature, the one below doesn't do it justice but you get the idea. After I read that in the book, I started practicing mine just in case, well, you know..
  20. Edgy DC wrote: The struggle of a brewery owned team managed by a guy recently arrested for DWI trying to parse their statments will be interesting and require some overtime. I don't think Anheuser Busch owns them anymore. Weren't the Redbirds sold within the last year or so or was that a dream I had?
  21. The truck was in the driving lane but it was late at night (not a lot of traffic) and it had its flashing lights on. Sounds like it would've been hard to miss. Stopped in the driving lane or not, I know when I'm driving and see flashing lights I slow down until I know exactly what is going on.
  22. Golf clap.
