  2. George Brett was responsible for teaching the adolescent me all about hemorrhoids. I should hate him for that.
  3. Am I wrong in preferring the Royals over Blue Jays as an opponent? The Mets haven't played on turf all year and the Jays have played half of their games on it. Faster game, especially for the Mets less than stellar infield defense. No one else sees this as an issue?

  5. No crow for me thanks. Unless hating ownership and doubting their intentions and being certain they were lying to the fan base is/was wrong. i may have not been all in all season but from early on I was fairly content. Of course my expectations were pretty low as well. So there's that.
  6. This has got to be it: 2010 ALCS, Game 4 - 'The Yankees jumped to an early lead in the bottom of the second on a controversial solo home run from Robinson Can. Can hit the ball over the right field wall and right-field umpire Jim Reynolds ruled the ball a home run, but Rangers right fielder Nelson Cruz argued that there was spectator interference. Television replays showed that the fans did not illegally interfere with the ball directly, but that a few fans did touch Cruz's glove while it was over the field of play. Instant replay review was not used and the home run call stood.'
  7. I wish I could read King Douche's lips. Apparently everyone in his little Douchedom thinks he's pretty hysterical.
  8. That's perfect Lunchy. Any idea what the details were surrounding that douchetastic assemblage of doucheocity?
  9. I was getting there over the 2013 & 2014 seasons. Got really fed up with everything surrounding the team. I still watched games but for the first time in forever I did not go to one game in 2014. My friends would ask how many games I'd gone too and when I told them the response was more than not 'wowwwwwwwww....'. Stopped posting here too. I'm not gonna lie - it wasn't horrible. No more having my day ruined by a blown save. This season though, maybe because of deGrom, and Harvey coming back healthy I was more interested from the get-go. Still not completely back but I had one eye steadily trained on them. After the 11 game win streak, friends would say 'are you back, now? I was not. Not fully convinced. As this season went on though, I liked watching again. They might have had some bad stretches but they fought. My son would walk into the living room and see the game on and he'd say 'so I guess you're back, huh?' Once I was convinced though, it was easy to dive back in. Sure I missed a few minor players over the 2 years I became a casual observer but it's all good now.

  11. October 6, 1969 - 4 years old (almost 5), living in Stuyvesant Town in lower Manhattan. Unaware of the Mets. Very aware of Ring Dings & Santa Claus. October 10, 1973 - 9 years old (almost 10), living on the upper west side, enamored with Willie Mays. No recollection of my specific whereabouts when pennant was clinched. October 15, 1986 - 21 years old (almost 22), senior year at Syracuse U. Had just returned from a road trip to Philadelphia to watch the 3rd game of that series and see the Mets clinch there because there was 'no way' the Phillies were going to sweep them. It was a long drive back to school. October 16, 2000 - 35 years old (almost 36), Shea Stadium, baby. I was there! OE: re: '86, above story was division clincher, sorry. For the pennant I was in my basement apt. In Syracuse for the entire game. Roommates came and went all day, staying for an inning or two and I moved steadily around the apartment from chair to couch to ottoman all throughout. When they finally won I went outside to breathe actual air.
  12. There was a forum that pre-dated this one that many of us posted on. I forget the name of it though.
  13. I'm digging it. Went to Modell's to see what kind of crap they had to sell me. Just NL Champs stuff. I'm gonna wait 10 days or so for the good stuff... (I did buy an 'NL Champs' shot glass though)
  14. Whip it out pal, you deserve it.
  15. MFS62 wrote: I heard that this will be the first World Series in history where none of the original 16 major league franchises is participating. Later I was wondering if this would be the first all-expansion World Series. Mets have been involved in so many firsts in MLB history. Very cool that this is another.
  16. No wins for deGrom? How many RBI did Murph have?
  17. I love this Schwarber kid! He's killing me!

  20. Am I wrong or has the postseason exuberance significantly increased the salt factor in Edgy's vocabulary?
