  1. Putting the ball in play is a challenge so far.
  2. It is very possible there are more Mets fans here than Sox fans. Meeting nice people. The Sox made a poster for the series with Mr. Met and the Sox mascot.
  3. Phew. I was a little worried there.
  4. I just got a ticket to the game tomorrow! Shockingly, it was not difficult. Phillies helping us out tonight, up 3-0 in the ninth.
  5. Tylor seems to wilt in big games. I don't have data on that, just an impression.
  6. I'm glad they sought out such a respected authority on Mets fandom! Great work!
  7. Damn! These guys are not rolling over and giving up!
  8. Braves lost today, so while we had a chance to gain ground and lost it, we didn't lose any ground.
  9. Brightside: Lindor, with speed and baserunning smarts, is the free runner if we can keep this going. OE: Nevermind.
  10. Rats. Walks always seem to bite them in the butt. Butto just as not been sharp lately.
  11. He should be in the serious running for MVP. Buster Olney has mentioned him in that context a couple times in recent weeks.
  12. We don't lose games as much as we gift them to bad teams.

  15. I think it would be neat if MLB played a game each year in a minor league park, a cool one that's far from any major league team. Give people a chance to see the game up close and build the fan base. Maybe a place like Oklahoma City, the Quad Cities, Indianapolis. I like Citi Field. I'm fortunate that I get to plan vacations around seeing games in other places, and I've been to about two-thirds of the existing ones for games or tours. I'd easily put Citi in the top five, and maybe top three. That might change when I get to do a West Coast tour. We're planning to hit Seattle next season. I like a lot of the features they've added over the years -- the Hall of Fame, the Home Run Apple outside, the Seaver statue. And it is spectacular at night. https://www.bankrate.com/2023/04/17104217/GettyImages-1403575278.jpg>
  16. Game is on ESPN at 7:10 p.m. Luis Severino, 7-5, 4.06 ERA faces Luis Castillo, 9-11, 3.48 ERA. Stuff we have in common. Seattle used to have a professional hockey team named the Metropolitans. With the benefit of hindsight, what do you think about the Cano-Diaz trade? Mets got Robinson Cano and Diaz and $20 million. Mariners got Jay Bruce, relievers Anthony Swarzak and Gerson Bautista, and prospects Jarred Kelenic and Justin Dunn. Dunn hasn't pitched in the majors since 2022, Swarzak since 2021, Bautista since 2019. Kelenic is just OK. Cano obviously sucked.
  17. This could be fun! I'd like to see them make the Rickwood Field game an annual thing.
  18. Benjamin Grimm wrote: A little while ago I asked Alexa what time the game started, and she gave me the correct answer. The Mets take on the Mariners in Seattle at 10:10 p.m. Then I asked her who's pitching for the Mets. And she told me that Chris Bassitt would be pitching for the Mets tonight against the Padres. I suspect that that answer isn't completely accurate. Alexa is kinda like Wikipedia. It's probably right most of the time, but you can never be certain.
  19. https://sny.tv/articles/adam-ottavino-discusses-uncertain-mets-futurehttps://sny.tv/articles/adam-ottavino-discusses-uncertain-mets-future Speculation that when some of the injured relievers return, Adam Ottovino might be the odd man out. He wants to stay. “I think it would be foolish to let me go,” he told Mike Puma of the NY Post. “It occurred to me that it could happen, but you can't control it. As far as I'm concerned, I'm still throwing the ball the way I want to for the most part, so I just have to try to live with the results.” It might be more foolish to pitch him in a close game...

I am just too tired from work to endure two 45+ minute Uber rides and a ballpark crowd. Plus the forecast looked a bit touch and go. Having said that, my hotel inexplicably does not carry the channel on which this game is being aired locally. I have to watch on my tablet despite this suite having two big televisions. So that's stupid. They are carrying FS1 which has the SD/PIT Game. In Denver. What the actual hell is that all about

  22. White Sox snap their streak, beating Oakland 5-1.
