But here's a question: If they don't make any moves for the year, what place do you think they will finish in? I'm saying that without making a move, they're as likely to finish in third place as they are to finish in first. Ugh, I hope not. I still think they have the talent to finish first as the team stands.
  4. Gwreck wrote: ="Elster88"]I'd like them to get Oswalt because I'd like our rotation solidified for the playoffs. And because he's under contract and Glavine is getting old. The chance of getting Oswalt, now that he's signed a lengthy contract extension for a reasonable price is less than zero. Of course you have no way of knowing if this is true or not.

I don't like the idea of not doing anything because they might be good enough. Well yeah they can finish anywhere between first and last with what they have. Like any other year. So that's not helpful. But here's a question: If they don't make any moves for the year, what place do you think they will finish in? I say first. And my guess is Alou magically feels well enough to play come playoff time. And then we'll be rid of him for 2008. I'd like them to get Oswalt because I'd like our rotation solidified for the playoffs. And because he's under contract and Glavine is getting old. I don't see much point to bringing in a guy like Jermaine Dye.
  8. I don't see how bringing Dye in helps. Hasn't he been terrible this year? I think Alou will be around for the playoffs, which is what we need. And I think we'll make the playoffs with what we have. Next year Gomez starts in right and Gotay at second. Then we'll need a leftfielder.

  10. Why do you hate him? Jealous?

  12. Gwreck wrote: Mets are BACK. Careful! 3 hits today.
  13. Edgy DC wrote: Not that Wright wasn't dumb (Darling saw that coming), but I thought the replay shows the pitcher was coming to the plate. Do all lefties balk or is that just a cliche?

  15. Mets picked off twice tonight. WTF
  16. Rockin' Doc wrote: He should try to find a way to serve his suspension during the two games of the doubleheader. He would only catch one of them anyway, so it effectively turns his suspension to basically one game. You don't want to do that at all. Well, maybe you do. Would you rather have two games of Castro or one game of Castro and one game of random-AAA-catcher?
  17. Feliciano comes in bases loaded, 2 out, gets 'im out.
  18. Gomez 8 stolen bases in 9 tries. I'm getting very riled up thinking about Reyes, Gomez hitting 1-2 in the order with Gotay hitting eighth next year.
  19. metirish wrote: Elster,I think we all know that Hojo screaming at the ump will not make hitters hit better or pitchers pitch better, but you know maybe seeing the former Met getting into it might wake some fuckers up... You're a good dude irish, but this makes no sense at all.
  20. Cust didn't really do anything wrong back on that play in the first. Reyes giveth on that one. Pretty much everyone stung the ball in the top of the fifth for the A's. I'm not sure how we got out of that with only one run lost.

  22. iramets wrote: ="metirish"]Instead of Bradley I'd like to see Omar trade for Nady,Pirates are going nowhere, and we know he's a good fit. Nady is a FA after the season. You giving them back Perez and a reliever? Or do you want them to admit publicly that they're taking it up the ass? Shouldn't be a problem. Only the Mets follow the CYA policy.
