  1. Cool, but don't be too literal. I'm asking for a little shower of love for David that's all. Please don't get caught up in the words and miss the overall message. Though maybe you're right that no one here has ripped him a new one. Edit: looks like you agree with me overall. I'm starting to get fuzzy and didn't quite understand your post the first time. Maybe my parents were right all along to make me skip the west coast games. I'll have to let them know.
  2. Wow that's a great KTE. I hate doing KTE's because I can't write like that, and a it seems that so many on this site can. I was in all the honors classes at school but was told at a fairly young age that I'm a "meat and potatoes" writer. And I hated my English requirement in college. I'll leave the KTEs to those who have the gift like LeiterWagner.
  3. John Maine staying on despite already having thrown 108 pitches. I like that a lot. I've hated the majority of Manuel's decisions this year but two good ones so far today.
  4. Keith and Gary made a great point. He hasn't gotten hot yet and is striking out like he's never done before and he's still hitting .326. I'll add to that. His OBP is .409 and lots of morons on the radio hate him. Even some of the smart folk on this site are ripping him a new one. The team's in first place. Can we leave him alone for a little while and show a little love? Maybe at least wait until his average dips below .310? Edit: As I say this he has reached base for the fourth time today and stolen his third base. He's working his ass off. Let's go Mets.
  5. I have a feeling that Manuel has achieved his goal of putting Castro into a slump.

I could stare at those numbers all day and they weren't even for my team. But he can't be clutch because we all know Met players are not clutch! Just ask a WFAN caller or ChipperJJeets. Anyway, to Irish's point, over ~125 at bats he's probably never been better. metirish May 13 2009 04:40 AM Yes , I forgot about 2004...yikes.. The WFAN-ian response (particularly from the likes of Baddabingo) is that he did those things in Houston and therefore they don't count. He has yet to prove anything in NYC. 9. I wouldn't even consider this "anecdotal evidence". Maybe call it just "anecdotal". Delgado and Beltran hit balls that would've been home runs in Shea. Wright did the same on Monday. All three were doubles. I don't have a point. But sadly, Pujols or Zimmerman's extra home runs might make a difference when MVP voting comes for Beltran. I'm surprised how much I want a Met to win the MVP and how much I want Santana to win the Cy Young.
  10. Please consider when voting that Beltran basically tied the game in the bottom of the ninth by himself. I like him so I am biased, but he is the reason we go back in this.
  11. Pelfrey 3.75 Beltran 2.5 Reyes 1.5 Rodriguez 1.5 Wright 0.5 Church 0.25
  12. A giant among men.
  13. Santana looking to break the record for most losses without giving up an earned run.
  14. Seems fairly conclusive. I'd stay away unless he was cheap. Certainly .856 isn't terrible but it's not great. Another question though, is Coors still Coors, if you know what I mean? Are the cigar boxes keeping the balls damp?
  15. Maine 3.5 Reyes 1.25 Beltran 1.25 Takahashi 1 Wright 0.75 Tatis 0.75 Castillo 0.75 Sheffield 0.5 Stokes 0.25
  16. The under for the Yankees is like stealing money. I was all over that.
  17. ="LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr"] Fair enough about my apparent if-heavy suggestion-- I just meant that the trade wasn't terrible in conception, as a few critics argued at the time it was made, and many, MANY more argued just after Devin Harris started putting up all-star numbers (something that is MUCH easier to do, by the way, on a crap team). Many, many more? How many is that? Do you have percentages/ratios? Can you quote articles?
  18. Arrrrrr. Where be cooby? Avast ye scurvy swabs.
  19. The way to do this is to compare his road splits to his home splits for when he was actually playing in Coors.

  21. Santana 5.25 Feliciano 1 Rodriguez 1 Tatis 1 Murphy 1 Delgado 0.75
  22. That's a game that would've been great to be at. 1-0 is baseball at it's best.
  23. That's National League baseball baby. But did we really only get two hits off Chan Whore? WTF?
  24. ="Swan Swan H"] That's perfect. They should have a Frankie day and hand those out at the park.
