  1. Pagan had four hits yesterday. Reed threw a ball from the first base position to the backstop. So naturally Manuel starts Murphy in left and Reed at first. Seriously what the fuck is wrong with him? If you have to play Reed and Murphy (and sit Pagan) than at least switch the positions. And as I'm typing this I see Murphy commits a two-base error in left. This is comical.
  2. 5/18: This game should've been about Redding and Pagan. I don't have the energy to sum up what happened. Maybe tomorrow. And I have to wake up in four hours. This is the first time I've been really down this year. Maybe a good night's sleep will help.
  3. And then in the Church game, bases loaded one out, five infielders, Stokes gets a grounder to Reed, Reed throws it five feet to the left of Castro at home.
  4. I don't like this 5 infielder thing. I'd rather play the outfield shallow. What's more likely to happen, a dink hit between the two outfielders (where a shallow centerfielder could keep the runner on third from tagging up), or a groundball up the middle that gets between second and shortstop?
  5. I just don't want to forget anything: Church missing third when scoring the go-ahead run in extra innings. In the Church game, Beltran and Pagan letting a ball drop between them in the bottom of that same inning. Beltran getting thrown out at home because he didn't feel like sliding. Santana losing two games in which he didn't give up an earned run. Pelfrey balking three times in the same game. Help me remember some more.
  6. Gary says it's a double for Pagan. I was wondering how to score that but I guess it makes sense if Church "never made it" to third.
  7. That won't get him off of Jerry's shit list. Plus it looks like he hurt himself. Pagan picking up where he left off last April. Is there any way we win after that? Should I go to sleep?
  8. Two errors and some awful turns at the plate for Ramon. Early returns indicate he is not a major league shortstop.
  9. Batting Pagan leadoff today looks like an A so far. Three hits, one double, scores the tieing run in the top of the eighth from second on a ball that barely gets out of the infield. (second baseman playing way over behind second, a seeing eye single by Sheff, second baseman gets there and throws it in, Pagan just beats the throw)
  10. Girardi and Gardenhire get into a shouting match on the field today. Hughes career: 6-9 with a 5.48. And yet I'm grateful they refused to trade him and Kennedy for Santana.
  11. Ugh, the first casualty to pen overuse. Should they really overdo protecting Santana just to blow out the guys they got to protect his wins? Maybe they should so he can go nine in September, but I'm worried that this Torre-style bullpen use will end up with all our guys getting Tommy John surgery.
  12. Wright 5 Sheffield 1 Church 1 Reed 1 Murphy 0.5 Feliciano 0.5 Rodriguez 0.5 Santos 0.5
  13. So Fred Lewis hit a Livan pitch (estimated speed: 26 miles an hour) 421 feet? Dude's strong.
  14. Yeah he was great last year but I'm fired up. Just do the damn chant. Do it loud enough and Santana will win the Cy Young this year. Edits: typos and clarity.
  15. I didn't even realize Rusch was still playing.
  16. What is Keith's jacket made out of? Industrial carpet?
  17. 5/15: Fall behind 4-1 in the first inning. Down 5-1 after two. Down 6-3 after six. Clutch hits by David Wright. Putz and Delgado unavailable. Livan starting. Reyes limited to striking out in a pinch hitting appearance. Come back to win off the great Tim Lincecum on the road. Score the winning runs in a tie in the ninth.
  18. Huge. Can I get an overrated chant for Lincecum? One more win would be gravy this series. And Santana tomorrow. I'm swooning. And I love David Wright.
  19. ="LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr"]="Elster88"]="LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr"] Fair enough about my apparent if-heavy suggestion-- I just meant that the trade wasn't terrible in conception, as a few critics argued at the time it was made, and many, MANY more argued just after Devin Harris started putting up all-star numbers (something that is MUCH easier to do, by the way, on a crap team). Many, many more? How many is that? Do you have percentages/ratios? Can you quote articles? Percentages/ratios as far as numbers of articles? For serious? Vescey, Chad Ford and a sea of TV color guys, to name a few. Point is, the trade was much more resoundly crapped on after the fact-- I think the server for Basketball-Opinions-Reference.com is down this week, so I'll have to get back to you on the numbers. No need to get all pissy. My point was that, though you said a few liked it but many didn't, how can you really know? I'm not sure what that translates to in real numbers since, as you sarcastically pointed out, there's no website that keeps track of it. Seems you're going on anecdotal evidence more than anything. I've heard lots of people praise the trade. I thought it was a bad trade. Funny how I've heard people who once praised the trade are now saying that the Mavs are in trouble since they don't have a point guard that can penetrate and don't have a young point guard. Some real geniuses out there. ]I'll tell you this much-- Cuban's gone down several notches in my eyes after the Denver-Dallas series fiasco. Can't argue with that. He'd be a great owner if he'd just stay off the f-ing court. And if he didn't sit behind the bench. That's just creepy.
  20. I think he's been thrown out more than Willie ever was with less than a year on the job, not even the time he got thrown out as the bench coach. The FAN callers will like that.
  21. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: ="Elster88"]Maybe the Mets can win despite Manuel. He's been run already. What the. When was this. I only missed an inning or so.
  22. 5/15 at the Giants. A two out single in the top of the first to plate a run. A no out double with the bases loaded down 3 to tie the game. A ninth inning single with no outs and one on. That kid is clutch. Edit: Wright 27 for his last 65. Coincidentally, the Mets are 12-5 over that span. Edit: Keith has his back. Noticed it in the postgame today and the GF reported it happened during one game when I was at work. God bless her for keeping me informed, I should get her something nice this week.
  23. And Santos hits the sac fly anyway. I dunno.
  24. 1st and 2nd, no out in the top of the 9th, Jerry calls for the bunt with a bad bunter (Church) up. Sheffield would've been out by 15 feet if not for the pitcher throwing it into left field. Oh yeah, and Church had two hits coming into that at-bat, and Santos hitting behind him was 0-3 with 3 strikeouts and a sacrifice fly. The fact that Santos had a sac fly already this game means nothing to me since he struck out three times. Edit: Grade N/A, since Manuel was not managing at the time.
  25. Maybe the Mets can win despite Manuel.
