  2. To be a little more fair to the author, he did write: "Randolph again clarified that, by stating Seo isn't a sure starter next season, he merely was saying that he needs to see how he looks next spring." _____________________________ This post had the designation 154) Tommy Davis
  3. Besides, can you imagine the outrage if something happened in the interim if Willie did say Seo had a spot? If he was traded or had a crappy spring and didn't end up making the team, it would end up being a huge controversy. I can think of one former Met fan who would go absolutely ape-shit, and would use it for the next five years as an example of how Met management lies and dupes its fans. Personally, I'm grateful to Willie if he can spare me that by simply telling moronic sportswriters that a position for next year isn't going to be solidified seven months beforehand. _____________________________ This post had the designation 154) Tommy Davis
  4. ]Great, let's try and start Heilman, but we HAVE to find a way to put Seo in the rotation. He's been our best pitcher in his limited duty. How can Willie not see that? Willie's decision makes complete sense to me. No one can earn a rotation spot for 2006 in the year 2005, including Petey. You wait until next year to make these decisions. _____________________________ This post had the designation 154) Tommy Davis
  5. ]The former first-rounder has allowed two earned runs since the end of July. Most impressive. _____________________________ This post had the designation 154) Tommy Davis

  9. Gameday is giving me agita. And I thought I didn't care who won today. _____________________________ This post had the designation 154) Tommy Davis
  10. So did the crowd form a lynch mob and go after Looper? _____________________________ This post had the designation 154) Tommy Davis

  12. Game day has bit the dust, methinks. Either that or this game is progresing really slowly. How many pitching changes have there been this inning? _____________________________ This post had the designation 154) Tommy Davis
  13. Double play to end the top of the seventh. Yawn. _____________________________ This post had the designation 154) Tommy Davis
  14. 40 doubles for Wright. That's a lot for one game. _____________________________ This post had the designation 154) Tommy Davis
  15. In the first Fran busted out his "Seo has gained cahnfidence and swagger on the mound and was immediately (like, before he finished his sentence) shot down by Ralph who said it's got nothing to do with that, it's because he gained a curveball and split-finger fastball. Nice retort by Kiner with a minimum of phlegm in his throat. _____________________________ This post had the designation 154) Tommy Davis
  16. Does Cairo in right make any sense? I hate to say this on the heels of the "Willie is/isn't a moron" controversy, but that is just plain foolish. _____________________________ This post had the designation 154) Tommy Davis
  17. Glad I'm not the only one who was wondering that._____________________________This post had the designation 154) Tommy Davis
  18. Edgy DC wrote: ]So you could actually make a stronger case for injury derailing Cairo than you could for Matsui. You could, but you could go the other way. And one case being true doesn't make the other untrue. All true. Useless to speculate who was more derailed. I like to put on my blue and orange glasses and say Matsui had a bad first half, and then got injured. That's all. I hope his bad first half isn't representative of his playing ability. As for Cairo, you can look at his career numbers and say this year is making up for last year in order to keep his career numbers at the same level they were at in 2003. _____________________________ This post had the designation 154) Tommy Davis

Andruw hit #300 last night but turned 28 in April. Huh. I didn't know this. I heard the soundbite from my TV while brushing my teeth this morning that Andruw was the youngest. _____________________________ This post had the designation 154) Tommy Davis
  21. They can't both be MORE likely. ;-)
  22. Andruw Jones became the youngest player to reach 300 homers yesterday. That's a testament to the age at which he joined the league as much as his home run hitting prowess. Then again, 50 home runs is a pretty incredible season, it just seems like a lot less than it used to thanks to steroids, juiced balls, blah blah blah. _____________________________ This post had the designation 155) David Segui
  23. Which firm conclusions are you referring to? The only thing that I am confiriming is that he can hit the way that the same person did who hit .272. I think his OPS for last year was .730. That's the conclusion I've drawn, that he can hit at a career .730 OPS. I think that he can do better. I'll even say he can do better, so this can be put into the prediction archives if so desired. But conclusions? I don't see anyone drawing a firm conclusion that is out of whack. Not sure what you're referring to. ____________________________ This post had the designation 155) David Segui
  24. Rockin' Doc wrote: I believe this is the first time that I have referred to Willie as a moron (or similar) so I wouldn't classify myself as a Willie basher. I will readily admit that I am greatly frustrated by the team's September swoon. Not that this collapse is all Willie's fault by any stretch of the imagination. However, I have become increasingly frustrated by many of Willie's in game decisions as well as many of his player personnel decisions. KC and LF are correct that there will be more than ample time to sift through Randolph's first managerial season once the season has been completed. I will go through my list of grievances at a more appropriate time in the future. I'll agree with all this. Personally, I consider myself to be someone who defends Willie more than most. I don't remember who it was who tried to blame the whole season on Willie (or at least blamed not making the playoffs on Willie), but when it happened I rose to Willie's defense. ____________________________ This post had the designation 155) David Segui
  25. Nymr83 wrote: you guys are way too optimistic. the real matsui (the one we can't tolerate) will be back before the end of the year or the beginning of next when the games count again. Actually the real Matsui is the one who hit .272 with 32 doubles in 114 games last year. I like that Matsui. ____________________________ This post had the designation 155) David Segui
