  1. I have no idea. No one does. Speaking of Jim Rome, did anyone else love it when Jim Everett smacked him around a little?
  2. ]TSWWNBN ?
  3. Nady looks like Damon in that pic, no?
  4. Come back to the side of truth and justice.

Keep up with current events. Or do you mean Delgado and Wagner? Sure, if I had my druthers, I'd rather have two fat-ass, forty-year-old, broken-down has-beens (apparently non-retreads because they aren't old enough) like Wells and Schilling heading my rotation in 2006. But I'll take the Met retreads of Pedro and Glavine if I have to. Just me wearing my blue and orange spectacles. (No, I'm not mad, just passing along some updated roster info. The hire-a-retread policy isn't in effect anymore.) ]But we're not in the business of giving the Dodgers our young, affordable prospects for their over the hill 2b men who will make us sit Matui. What's this "we" stuff? You back on the bandwagon? Maybe since the Met outlook in '06 is better than the Sawx you're going to dust off the old Met cap?

  7. Caple goes from saying that players don't care as much about winning as the fans, and then in his next few paragraphs says that Damon is ruining his legacy. So players don't care about winning, but care about their legacy? Give me a fucking break. I do this every time a free agent signs, so I deserve a dead horse award: It's about the money, it will always be about the money. Damon will feel just fine as he watches his game checks pile up in his bank account. Now that that is dealt with for the second time in the last three posts, I can move on to my next question: Where do millionaires keep their money? Banks only insure up to one hundred grand right? I guess stocks and bonds and shit.
  8. I think it was just the money. It always is. __________________ This post had the designation 94)Rico Brogna
  9. I was only teasing you Bret. I agree with all three of your points. Well, almost all three. I think 13 mil is too much.

  11. Bret Sabermetric wrote: I'm disappointed. For 4 years, the Sox should have re-signed him, even granting that the 4th year is kinda a gamble. An LT contract for someone with Damon's abilities, at Damon's age (as with Piazza or Pedro), the team has to assume that you're getting a quality player for a couple of years, and paying nasally for the privilege (more than the $$$ value you're paying for those first few years) and then beyond year three, it's all a crapshoot. But here there is only the one year beyond year three, so the Sox should have, IMO, coughed up the scratch. This was a great deal (for the Sox) if the Yankees had gone for Boras 7-years-or-bust gambit but they should have gone for a 4 year deal themselves. Damned lousy cheapass Sox. This is a huge change in your stance from "Don't sign veterans on the tail of their career to high priced contracts." Doesn't anyone else think 13 million a year is a huge waste of money for Damon? I guess the Yanks can afford it. I'd much rather have Beltran for the next 6 at his rate (16?) than 4 years of Damon at 13. Even after Beltran had a bad year and Damon had a career year.
  12. Kenny Lofton is so old....he's only a little younger than Julio Franco.
  13. KC wrote: I mean is anyone banging the LoDuca or Reyes are offensive juggernauts drum anywhere? I haven't seen it, if they are. Maybe not, but some bang the "Sign Reyes to a long-term contract NOW card though.
  14. seawolf17 wrote: I'm not bothered by the WBC thing. I know there's an injury risk, but (a) there's an injury risk of him getting hit by a meteor also, and ( he'd be pitching during that time anyway, it would just be in ST games. So I don't really care either way. My regular response to this is: a) The injury risk is much greater from pitching than from meteor strike. I'm assuming more effort and exertion in WBC games than ST games.
  15. I was hoping for a good movie parody and I got one. Thanks, seawolf.
  16. How many of you still aren't bothered by the idea of him participating in the World Baseball Thing? I want the truth.
  17. Bret Sabermetric wrote: "Al, don't you realize that deliberately running up high pitch counts is an essentially give-up philosophy wherein you're conceding certain tangible advantages to the batter, primarily having the count in his favor a significant percentage of the time but also including giving the opposing teams much needed chances to accustomize themselves to the pitches you have available on a given day, and that the least of what you're conceding is that your team's bullpen will doomed to overwork whenever you pitch, and that you're far better to challenge the batters at least a sizeable minority of all the batters-facing-pitchers encounters? Huh, don't you?" Nice to meet you, my ass. I hate reruns.
  18. I could be wrong on this...I thought black wasn't, technically, a color?
  19. Franco looks like he's approaching 50 in his picture.

  22. Seven bananas.
  23. ]He was a pretty decent player but I think he may have cared more about chasing skirt than ground balls. All things considered I can't say I blame him. 88 games, pal. 88 games.
  24. I am confident enough in and comfortable enough with my masculinity to be able to tell you that Kevin Elster was and is one sexy man.
