  1. How many fathers of major leaguers?
  2. There are idiots in all walks of life.
  3. Dammit. Again a stupid remark randomly selected to head the new page.
  4. It could be worse. At some boards you would've already gotten five post with pictures of actual moose balls. Or even worse....pictures of Sandra Oh.
  5. Bret Sabermetric wrote: there's no reason to throw money away trying to gain their good will or a future home town discount. They'll get whatever they can, and no one's going to say "I'll give the Mets a break because they gave me 20,000 dollars my third year when they didn't have to." Money always talks in the end when free agent time comes around. But who knows. The Mets could've thrown a little (but more than 20 grand) love David's way. It's not like they can't afford it. Maybe he'd be more willing to negotiate a long term deal before free agency if they treat him right now. A guy like David is the guy you want to stick around a while. Edit: typo
  6. I thought they were. Could be wrong.
  7. There's no loyalty in this business, and yet Bagwell should retire because the Astros have been so good to him.
  8. ]Weve talked to Tony already, and were going to make sure he plays enough, Sox manager Terry Francona said. Its kind of a win-win situation if he plays well, and hes a good player. He could be with us, he could potentially be with somebody else. I think we all acknowledge that. I certainly dont want him sitting. I wouldnt do that to him. Careful Tito. You wouldn't want your fans thinking you're putting the needs of an aging player ahead of the needs of the team.

I don't care if it's the first live game he's pitched in in 6 months, he should have pinpoint accuracy and not walk any batters. You guys are being ridiculous.
  10. vtmet wrote: I know this is only his first ST appearance.. You should've stopped right there.
  11. soupcan wrote: I hope he has a great time. The players better be nicer than nice and give him all the autographs he wants or so help me... I don't care if he spits on you. Do NOT stomp on Pedro's foot.
  12. MFS62 wrote: The major thing is that Willie had Beltran batting SECOND in the lineup. Wright was in the #4 hole. Maybe he is trainable. Later Not possible. What he showed in his first year can and should be the only evidence used to judge how he will manage for the rest of his career.
  13. I always like reading what fans of other teams think of the Mets. I liked her post, even though it's obviously stuff we gone over in greater detail here.
  14. ]Pedro now apparently out for all rounds in addition to the previously announced 1st-round no-show. I suppose he'll remain on their roster so could conceivably decide that he's OK and parachute in in the DR reaches a final, but he's almost certain to skip the whole thing. From what I'm hearing, they weren't leaving this option open to players. They wanted guys who were healthy out of the gate on the roster. I could have that all mixed up.
  15. I doubt anything was going through Mookie's head that made him more skittish. Mookie has said what he was thinking about a few times: "Please do not strike out."
  16. I've got that rumbling feeling in the pit of my stomach. March Madness starting next week followed immediately by Opening Day. Best time of the year to watch sports. I am ridiculously excited. 32 days, baby.
  17. Not anal. Constructive criticism.
  18. Bret Sabermetric wrote: fast/slow smile/mope homeboy/ hired gun *sigh*
  19. I doubt someone would actually SAY "lol".
  20. Rotblatt wrote: It's a pity we sold off all our excess pitchers--they might go for a Benson for Soriano trade. Chant it with me O-MAR (clap, clap) O-MAR (clap, clap)
  21. Centerfield wrote: He cried again? He might lead the league in crying over the past season plus. Somewhere, Joe Torre is pissed.
  22. First split squad game today.
  23. I am really not looking forward to this discussion again. No one's forcing me to read it, I know. It's out of purely morbid fascination that I continue to open this thread.
  24. The bear? Edit: Why is it always a post like this that starts a new page and a longer one that I like gets buried last on a page so no one ever reads it? Why? Huh? Tell me. NOW
  25. How do you pronounce Taipei? When playing Little League World Series for Nintendo, we always went with "tie-PAY".
