  1. The lack of response makes me think no one knows who I'm talking about. Maybe this will jog some memories:
  2. I disagree that the final fight scene wasn't believable. What I really liked about it was that you could see each blow do damage. There's a part in the middle of the fight when both of them are standing there, huffing and clutching their sides. Refreshing change from movies where the hero takes five shots straight to the jaw and continues fighting. Getting punched in the mouth hurts! And one clean shot can easily break a jaw (and the hand that delivered it), but apparently the fellas in movies have chins and knuckles made of steel.
  3. (Sato is an interesting guy...he’s clearly not over their feud, and seems very anxious to fight Miyagi as soon as possible. One has to wonder, though, why Sato didn’t take any action for the last 30 years. You’d have to think Miyagi would be pretty easy to track down in the States. Was he meaning to get around to it? Did he forget about it until he saw Miyagi running around the island again? They really don’t explain this aspect of the plot well enough.) 'Course, this kind of thing might actually make for a good story, which KKII wasn't going for.

  5. The latest example of this is Terminator 3, which not only blew ass, but rendered T2 completely meaningless CF - Elster sim scores (previously at 2.3 out of 100 from the soccer thread) rising. I hate this phenomenom. The entire T2 storyline ended perfectly. And they f'ed it up.
  6. ]"I tell you one thing, if Padilla hit me twice, right now I'd be in the hospital or I'd be dead. But I will fight. I will fight," Guillen said. I guess he doesn't have much confidence in his fighting ability.
  7. The only thing I liked was that he caught the crane kick. To us youngsters, that was sick.
  8. ]For those who suffered through the lean times in Flushing - that's a euphemism for the Art Howe Era Poor Art Howe. It's not like he had the players to succeed. Not all his fault.
  9. The main chart could use an update.
  10. Or maybe just Toronto does. I don't remember that at Montreal.
  11. From now on, all IGTs that may be the final game in a sweep must contain the word sweep in the title.
  12. My schedule lists the three Toronto games as all starting at 7 minutes past the hour. That's different.
  13. Expected in a player blog.
  14. In how many Met all-time offensive categories, without getting too obscure, does Straw not rank in the top 5? Certainly the percentage categories like BA, but how many of the "cumulative" categories?

Non-divisional opponent (hell, non-league, so the effect is mitigated) and it would prevent the Mets from the big-headedness so prevalent around these parts. An interesting thought, but ultimately I disagree. The only players who haven't struggled (much) at some point this season are Wright and Beltran. Everyone else has had at least one large individual slump. I think that's just as important in controlling big-headedness.
  16. I meant to click on Reyes, but hit Wright by accident.

Seo, Julio, Piazza, Cameron, Wheeler, Weathers maybe ... Cairo, Erickson ... Wait, that's a bad thought for several reasons. Besides Piazza, what Met playoff teams did those guys play for?
  18. ="Yancy Street Gang"]Now here's a thread that will be fascinating to re-read years from now! It'll probably be a bunch of boxes with red X's in them. So we're still on that? Years from now there's no reason for anyone to open this thread.
  19. Hampton, I guess. He didn't call it quits right? Or is he injured for the year?
  20. Hillbilly wrote: ="Johnny Dickshot"]I wouldn't blame the vets for a rookie oversleeping. I think Cliff remarked that he felt it was best to let him learn as he goes, so as not to overwhelm him with rules and stuff, just to learn by trial and error, and point out to him when he screws up. That sorta seems like a good idea and tho it's spun as a bad thing, pretty much what Mets anticipated might happen. I’d agree if wasn’t how this stuff gets into the press, who seem to be hell bent on labeling him a bad guy. I think some preventive actions could be used to avoid this stupid crap from getting into the papers and riling anybody up. Why not help him learn the ropes and keep him under a cover a little? Agreed. That's where Willie's "lies" about punishment and bad behavior come in handy. Edit: HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOJOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
