  1. And after that dubious start ElDouque comes back to strike out the side in the 1st. Nice.....
  2. As Ryan goes down on a questionable strike 3 looking, Phils pull off a double steal. 2nd and 3rd, 2 out for Rowand.
  3. Got Chase to chase a high fastball. Strikes him out! The dangerous Ryan Howard up. This kids having a phanominal year.
  4. ElDouque lookin a lil rocky in the 1st. Walks Rollins and Delucci. Chase Utley comes to the plate.

Saw Zachry give up a coupla hits to extend the streak to 37 which I believe either tied or broke Tommy Holmes NL record. I was at one of these games-- Rose had no hits and laid down a bunt for a hit in his last at bat. Im thinkin 38th but im really not sure. I dont see Chase bunting just for the sake of a hit, ala Rose. I hope Utley keeps it going, but with a 2 out single that leaves him stranded. What I dont want to see is him scoring any runs.
  6. Smartest move Omar has made to date,IMO. And thats sayin alot.
  7. Wags might drive me crazy here and there, but he's still gettin the job done for the most part. Of course, it seems like he only blows the games that I really feel the Mets should win, but Im sure thats just me--cuz I feel the Mets should win em all. I did expect more solidity from him, and 23 saves is less than I would have expected at this point, but when the dust clears after the seasons over his numbers will look just fine. Wags is tied for the lead in one run saves this season, and thats something.
  8. Just saw ESPNs highlights of the game on Sportcenter--and all they showed were clips from Wagners ninth. WTF? "...and Wagner does something he has never done before--hits the opposing pitcher with a pitch...." Ahhh--excuse me--the Mets scored 6 runs in the first 3 innings and seein a lil a that would have been nice. Sheesh.
  9. And Utley will bat again...... And he grounds one up the middle, off the shortstops glove, and is credited with his second hit of the game.

And besides ... they had Doug Meintkiewicz!!! There was a similar list recently (NY Times I think?) showing all the now All-Star pitchers who were released, traded, waived, or somehow given up on prior to turning 24. Off the top of my head: Willis, Liriano, Pedro, Bonderman, Kazmir, Arroyo, J Santana ... plus there were about 6 or 7 others. It all looks so easy with hindsight. Hopefully Oliver Perez makes that list someday
  11. lightened up gets a special box. rotflmao
  12. Gwreck wrote: The game is on ESPN. Ball was hit back to the pitcher, he checked the runner at third but then threw late to first. Credited with a hit, as of now. I get Phils games locally here as part of my Comcast package. I saw it--I do think it was a single fair and square. It was one a those calls that could go either way tho---and it actually did there. It wont show in the boxscore, but Victorino bought Utley that hit by catching Flores eye as the ball settled in his glove. The pitcher felt compelled to watch him back as he turned to throw, and it gave Utley the extra step it took to make it---tho he may have beat it by more than a step. It certainly wasnt bang bang at first--he clearly beat the throw.
  13. AND ITS BEEN CHANGED BACK AGAIN! lmao-- Looks like they are gonna give him that hit. Im curious--when you see this play lemme know what you think. I think it was a single alright. The pitcher did take an extra second looking back Victorino to third, but he never faltered or bobbled the ball, and Chase busted it down to 1st.
  14. UTLEY BEATS OUT AN INFIELD SINGLE!!!! It was an easy chopper to the pitcher between the mound and third---the pitcher takes a second to check Victorino at third, and he beats it out. AND THE SCORING HAS BEEN CHANGED! CHANGED TO A FIELDERS CHOICE! That was a hit---I really thin that was a hit---no bobble, Utley beat it.

MFY win 7-2 and Boston loses 5-6 Utley is 0-4 but should get another crack at it in the game Oh--he will.... unless the world ends, which I guess these days is certainly a possiblility. Phils score again and 'chase' Looper, Victorino triples and Utley at the plate. I really want Utley to keep it going. I also really wished he played for the Mets... Not that Im not happy with what Valentin has been giving us. Chase is just such a throwback type of player that makes baseball so much more enjoyable to watch. *Z crosses his fingers.

  17. Frayed Knot wrote: Now Girardi is pinch-running for the pinch-runner?!?!?? Over manager of the year!
  18. Gotta get their big bat Cabrera----(Willingham on deck--remember him?) YES!! WAGNER STRIKES OUT THE SIDE>GAME OVAH!
  19. Frayed Knot wrote: Thank you Joe Girardi (for leaving the bunt on w/2 strikes) ....did he really? Ha. Another BIG K of Uggla!
  20. THATS what we need Billy---BIG K of Ramirez for out number 1.
  21. The Marlins pinch run for both helms and Moehler. Gonna be tuff to get a much needed double play here.
  22. A single and a freakin hit by pitch.... great. Milledge is in for Floyd in left. And now we have the heart of Floridas lineup.
  23. ="Willets Point"]Ah, insurance runs would be nice. Although we don't really need them cuz with a 1-run lead we can count on Wagner to come in to shut the door. Hard to believe we didnt get that insurance. *Z pulls out another tuft of hair. I am of the sentiment to run him right back out there is a good thing. He is our closer, lock stock and barrel. But still......................
  24. ="SteveJRogers"]Of course it was by Grand Funk Railroad... DING! (actually I dont recall, lol.) Bases juiced, no outs in the 9th for Wright.
