  4. Excellent game. Gsellmans a working class hero! High energy, and Travis tapped some of that to generate some rejuvinated bat speed. Grandy & Loney show up. Reed, Familia, & Conforto's catch. BIG win. From here on out they ALL will be BIG wins. [fimg=500]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CreUHh_WYAQyjv_.jpg[/fimg] ^ballzy. Dykstraesque.
  5. Bats didn't show up tonight.
  6. Not really sad. Yep, deGrom. We need him so bad. Not necessarily to deGrominate but to go 7 and keep us in games. Of all the blows we have taken this is the only one that makes me feel real gloomy. For the teams sake and even more for the sake of his career. A few months ago, I guess when Harvey went down, I remember thinking: thank God we have deGrom & Snyderguaard, those two will always be solid. But how many times have we seen pitchers with great expectations go by the wayside. I'm more than concerned. I'm worried.

  8. OO, it didn't break. Lucky Wilmer, he had given up on that. Huge walk.
  9. Iceholes. This was just released.

I'm so not with it. [fimg=300]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CrILtUUWIAECyW8.jpg:large[/fimg] If they are gonna be doing Mets season highlight cards they are infringing on my beat! ;0 What the hell with the trademarked symbols interfering with the narrative? Ruins everything. I totally agree with you. They do it all the time now on everything. What? Are we gonna think it's not covered if there's no symbol next to it? It's aesthetically unpleasing to look at. It ruins the composition/artistic flow created by the layout itself. I HATE THAT THEY DO THAT!

I personally think the "U" should come first. But I will correct that. Grab it here and now or sue me later.[/crossout] CORRECTED
  12. I got nothing for Bruce. I didn't want to jinx him. But I got this for Yelich. Damn, shudda squeezed out another run that inning.

  15. Edgy MD wrote: Man, you can't give a team two better double-play balls, but it's like Gordon and Suzuki can't legally be doubled up. Keef's right, though. Flores should be charging a little more. Part of why I advocate for instead sticking him at third, man. And now, Suzuki scores the game's first run. He did move in a few steps, but kinda like a sand crab. He could have been 2 strides closer (& sooner, still avoiding the runner) if he moved in like a human. He didn't do awful there. And that was Gordon running, so ... The issue there once again was footwork, Wilmer's notorious problem (no matter where you put him).
  16. I like that Conforto was slotted right in there tonight.
  17. Edgy MD wrote: Any thoughts on putting Reyes primarily at second and Flores primarily at third? I mean, I know Terry will never go for it, but would you? I agree that Wilmer's best spot might be third base (less to do). And I think that Reyes would be better at second when it comes to pivots and DPs (footwork). But I think the best set up might be Flores-3rd, Reyes-SS, Cabrera-2nd. Cabrera wanted to prove to the baseball world that he could still play some great SS. He has done that, so maybe he will be okay with that move. As far as Reyes playing the right side of the infield as well as the left, if Jose really wants to close his career with the Mets he should be prepared to play anywhere at anytime. He's one of the few that I believe can do that without a problem.
  18. This is interesting. A collector bought a ToppsNOW card because the card pictured by Topps contained an error (wrong first name of player). The guys specialty is error cards. Topps noticed the error early in the run and corrected it (316 error versions released), then mailed the customer the corrected version. He wanted the error version. They would not give it to him. He sued. http://www.courthousenews.com/2016/08/31/baseball-card-fan-throws-a-beanball-at-topps.htm No Familia 44 ToppsNOW card. I'll cover that one
  19. batmagadanleadoff wrote: That "first" Waco Kid was Gig Young. Nice write-up. Really. Huh. I was wondering about that. After seeing Wilder as The Waco Kid no one else could fill that role, but it would have been interesting if Gig got the gig. He might have had a career resurgence like Lesley Nielsen.
  20. The Mets are now 9-3 since Yoenis Cespedes and Asdrubal Cabrera came off the disabled list. Wilmer Flores has a career high 9-game hitting streak. Familia: 44 saves (record breaker) with a month left. Wow.
  21. Lefty Specialist wrote: That's a huge Johnson! lol, this^ Huge win. And tomorrow on out we have a deep bench.batmagadanleadoff wrote: Hey, Familia's up for the Mets all-time save record. That could be another Topps card. Shit, that'd be Mets history. Gah, that might be a must have. Maybe they'll overlook it (ha!). At seasons start I hoped for better come September, but I'll certainly take this and love it. Team is heating up at the perfect time.

  23. Wow. [fimg=400:3nqt9vtm]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CrN0BS0VUAECn8O.jpg[/fimg:3nqt9vtm] Fuck you old man!
