This SHOULD be this seasons "motto"!

  3. Don't know enough about this guy. I do know we need more of him.....
  4. I hope he learned last year that if he keeps his fluid swing he does not have to press or swing for the fences. The home runs will come. 36 HR/96 RBI/.276 avg.
  5. Make that extra inning. Final after ten innings 4-4, Mets.
  6. Hmmm, they are gonna play extras. Didn't expect that. *yawn

I read how the Mets have told Travis not to block the plate in spring training. The other day I saw him dive into a runner trying to score. IIRC he dropped the ball. I expected to read something about this in the NYC rags. Nada. He dived into the runner sliding, hands and glove first. I winced and thought, yikes, good thing he didn't get hurt. So, is that kind of play okay from a teams standpoint? He wasn't blocking the plate in any way but he did something that could be just as dangerous. I agree with the "not blocking the plate" during spring training, but this business of runners never being able to collide with a catcher during the season is ridiculous. If a team orders its catcher to never block the plate due to possible injury, that's their right and they can let those runs score. But you can't make it so that running down a catcher blocking the plate (with the ball) is against the rules. These guys get paid well to take these chances. Maybe there can be some specific kind of insurance introduced that can cover/apply to this situation. I don't know if I ever would have gotten so much into baseball if I didn't watch the 1970 All Star Game on TV and witnessed that bruising Rose put on Fosse. I know that shortened Fosse's career, but that's the way it goes. The play at the plate is one of the most exciting plays in baseball.
  9. I'm not a betting man but if I was, I'd bet that is Dodger Stadium as well.
  10. Anything "Mets" that hasn't happened yet, I gotta be optimistic about. .269/ 29(with 2 weeks left to the season to hit his 30th and he doesn't do it)/ 83 I think its a good thing they are re-working his approach at the plate. I always thought he was showing too many moving parts. Thought I saw the leg lift/toe tap back today when he got that hit up the middle.

Only in the 6th but yes, this is pretty bad azzkickin here. Read your thread Edge, and thats good, cuz otherwise I'd be on the edge of my seat waiting for the comeback inning. Saw Bucks homer. That was just a double that the wall got out of the way of, but it was ripped. I was more concerned with him behind the plate and, aside from his ability to talk to pitchers, I'm still waiting to be impressed. Duda got a hit! I feel its so important that he has at least an average season at the plate, for an outfielder, and plays a full one. As I watch (haven't been able to view uninterrupted) its 8-2...OUCH....9-2. Looking foward to seeing those other two Met kabooms.
  12. Just sitting down to watch this game now (I'll read the thread later). One thing I noticed during the intro by Ron, Kevin and Keith.... I know Keith shaved the stash but somehow my mind fills in that blank space. Its like a picture with something missing and the mind fills it in with what should be there. So when I first see Keith, I see that barren real estate and feel kinda odd, then my brain puts the mustache right back on him.
  13. Read about this yesterday. This is just so much bullshit. It cracked me up.
  14. Just viewed the game. Wheeler looked very good. Smooth. Rubens kaboomer looked like a routine fly off the bat that just kept goin (am I gonna have to whip up some kabooms for Tejeda? Hope so). I know its early to say but I hope Duda finds his swing cuz he still looks a little lost to me. Turners gonna have a hairy year. Get that kid more playing time! Good game. Really nice to hear Gary,Keith and Ron (& Ojeda) doin their thang. They are the best. Great to see baseball back.
  15. Kinda surprised by the no-one-in thing. Figured Piazza was a good bet. Lumping him in with the roiders is unfair. We all know that if Piazza was doing steroids Clemens would have been walking around with half a bat up his ass since 2000.
  16. If the side and back of the top are grey I've had that hat for over a year already. One of my favorite these days.
  17. Classy letter, classy guy. That gif of the movement on his knuckler is fantastic. It really shows what that pitch can do like no other image I've ever seen.
  18. I'll never forget the look on his face going out to meet Santana after the no-no. He looked like I would have looked. Beaming with boyish enthusiasm.

  20. Interesting how when talking about the hassles of re-locating he mentioned Toronto and Los Angeles.
  21. Deep digging bump alert! (page 11) Got this a few weeks ago and the first thing I viewed was the 86' 16 inning NLCS game. I saw the game on TV live, but had not since and had forgotten the details. 4 hours! Man, if anyone wants to see why many consider Mex to be one of the best first basemen ever, just watch this game. This package is awesome and even well worth the regular/full price. Looking forward to viewing the rest.

  23. Yay!
  24. WOOT! Gratz R.A.! It's nice to know that sometimes things turn out as they should.
