  1. Germen for the 9th. I think we're safe. I mean, 11-3, we can't blow this,right? 2 on, 1 out.
  2. 17 hits. Wow.
  3. A team that gets their runs back. How novel!
  4. Help! How do I get the Chicken Fat song out of my head?
  5. The Mets hitting like a real MLB team frightens and confuses me.

That conversation is kinda boring because even I, who thought from what I saw on TV that he should have gone, think that a coach with more of the play visible should not have sent him. He was out by a mile. Blame Tim? Who else? This is a much more interesting conversation we are having about the plays at the plate because it's an issue that remains unclear. The thing about Wrights rights. I believe he could have run him over, but he could not put his elbows out in front like a linebacker. So, how does one run over a catcher now? Waving his arms in the air like he just don't care? Wright could have run him over, but in a way that...I can't exactly imagine. And I could be wrong about this. I have no doubt that if Wright slid super hard feet first into the catcher he would not have been penalized on review. But the collision with the catcher, where the upper body of the runner is moving forward for contact is what they really want to curtail. So maybe it should be a more simple thing. Like its okay for a catcher to block the plate as he sees fit but the runner can only slide into him feet first. Wouldn't that be what they want and solve the whole dilemma? Personally I don't like what they are doing with this rule. I think it's good for the game if it addresses what really needs to be addressed. I think as it stands now it's not. It's muddying the waters.

  9. deGrom with his first win! Yay!!!!
  10. Wright doubles, Duda goes yard. 4-0 Mets. I think I can relax.
  11. Saved by the DP. Might be reviewed. Nope, DP stands. 2-0 Mets, 9th inning coming up.
  12. The replay shows he was not overacting. He was just sucking.
  13. DAMMITT DUDA! Great play by Wright wasted. Not a good throw but.. Duda, you could have reached that w/o the dramatization.
  14. Lets get deGrom a win guys.

  16. Ha, that's a new one. I like this one... ["..said one evaluator"] Beats the ambiguous unnamed source.

Don't know if I was viewing the entire layout of the play if I would have thought differently, but as it was happening I thought he had a fair chance to make it. But he was out by a mile.
  19. Well, what was a boring loss became an exciting loss, and that's something. Wright was out by a mile, true, but the rule says what it says and, like the force play call the other day, could be interpreted differently. One could say that if the catchers foot blocked any part of the "lane" to the plate he was in obstruction and all that happens after is moot. It would have been a horrendously bad reversal but it could have been reversed, as things stand now.
  20. d'Kong76 wrote: So they just showed the MLB decision video ... he didn't totally block the plate. Can someone not totally slide into the catcher. It's crazy. Running down the third baseline the view looks a bit different, and that's twice our guy slid to the right to avoid contact with the catcher. He was definitely partially blocking the plate, and I think the rule says no blocking at all without the ball. Under the guise of discretion that call could have been perceived differently, and it was a good challenge IMO.
  21. The major league way to do it here is a hit or a fly ball, but with CYoung up I'm rooting for the wild pitch.
