But thumbs up to Pittsburgh for the retro Crawfords unis and early 70's Stargell/Clemente polyester pullover tops. Same goes for the Royal Giants retros the Mets were wearing, even though Pittsburgh, as the host team, paid for those. Don't expect that from the Mets for their home fans. The seven thousand bucks the Mets'd hafta spend might break their budget for acquiring a key mid-season piece for the stretch run. I have one question. Were the original Royal Giants unis really that blue? Or do modern materials make it look different?
  2. Tejeda: .4 Murphy: .4 Duda: 1.3 d'Arnaud: 1 deGrom: 3 Edgin: .6 Familia: .6 Mejia: 2.7
  3. Curtis couldn't reach that? Or reach for it? Booooooo.
  4. Oh man. Don't let up Mejia. Make what you just did really count.
  5. I think Mejia is gonna get outta this.
  6. I missed the last 15 mins and all the drama. Replay looks clearly like the guy was a fish outta water. Ill have to watch this entire inning later. Maybe in a minute or 2.

  8. Sheesh. He's been hurt for 3 weeks? Not good. With the Mets these things turn into "out for weeks". So he'll probably be out for 3 weeks. I'm not saying he should not have been playing. I respect that he tried to play through it. But this sucks.
  9. Murphy: .5 Wright: .5 Duda: 1 Torres: 1 Edgin: .6 Black: .3
  10. Weak. Ron has a point about those first ball fast balls. His point was that they all were strikes, looking.
  11. CYoung, a kaboomer here would go a long way w/me.

  13. Another double is even better. Wright rips one down the 3rd baseline and Danny comes marching home. 5-2 You're big Duda.
  14. Watson's due for a bad outing. Get it started Muffhead.

  16. Come Together. Agree Garr, awesome. They should have an MLBeatles Day where everyones walkup music has to be a Beatles song. Like, Abreu could go with "When I'm 64".
  17. Anyone else hear anything about this? This is from NJ.com/Mets. I don't think the NY rags had anything regarding these accusations. At least the edition they truck down here. NEW YORK Zack Wheeler began to get the feeling that something was amiss in the second inning. A 96 mile-per-hour fastball low and inside rocketed back out into the field. A ball low and away was hit back up the middle. Brandon Moss turned on a 95 mph fastball, but hit it foul. Finally, the Mets pitcher called Travis dArnaud out to the mound. They needed to change their signs, he told him. The Oakland Athletics had them stolen, he believed. They knew what pitches were coming. "That was my fault for not picking it up earlier," Wheeler lamented afterward. Because by the time he figured it out, it was too late. The Athletics had already taken a six-run lead. After meeting with dArnaud, Wheeler struck out the final two batters of the inning, but they were the last he faced. http://www.nj.com/mets/index.ssf/2014/06/mets_oakland_athletics_zack_wheeler.html
  18. Frayed Knot wrote: With the pitcher coming up and two outs the decision to send Abreu makes more sense. Yeah it was a slow runner and a shallow hit, but with even a slightly an off-line throw you steal a run there. My thinking is they have to execute perfectly to get him. But on that one I could see the whole play in front of me (on camera) and Abreu looked like he was running underwater and I could see he was a dead duck. And, as they usually do in the majors, the other team did executed the play pretty perfect. If I was the coach, I still might have sent him. Abreu takes a bit to get up to speed, usually. That time it looked like he never got out of 2nd gear. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DICE! Gotta keep them in the park.

Hell, McCutchen could have stolen home on his own. Agreed. And agree w/Ron that Duda had to at least look over before making a move.
  20. G'bye A's's Well, until August for another silly 2 game series.
  21. Campbell: .2 Granderson: 3 CYoung: 2 d'Arnaud: .5 Tejeda: .3 Duda: 3 Eveland: .4 Edgin: .3 Familia: .3
  22. With this guy a walk might be better than a hit. UGH.
