Harvey gets a quick two outs, and Terry comes out and pulls him not because he's hit his pitch count, according to RJ, but because the Mets need to get a look at some other pitchers. Mercy comes for the Yankees. And now A BLIMP IS CRASHING! A GREAT ZEPPELIN. OH, ZVON, YOU'RE MISSING IT!!! HA~!
  3. Pictures back, Harveys out, 60 pitches. Nice outing. At least something is going according to plan.
  4. 73. My MLBtv crapped out. No picture This could only happen w/Harvey pitching against the Yankees.
  5. WRIGHT W/THE 2 RUN KABOOM! Shot it out to right. Just watched Lags istphr. That was beautiful. He even knocked out a Skank. 4-0 Mets
  6. Funny how I've looked at that album cover a thousand times and never noticed that. I do however recall being surprised by this scene back in 1972. classic. batmagadanleadoff wrote: You can't fool me, fellers. That cart didn't exist in '69 and woulda had a cloth covered cap in '72. As far as we know it didn't exist. More proof the cart was on the road in '69. Woodstock!
  7. I think it's about time we looked into The Adventures of the Mets Bullpen Cart. Because that cart has a history many are not aware of. What did the cart do before it mysteriously appeared at Shea in 1970? I'm doing a write up on the '67 outfield walls and I'd like to collect all theories as to why the walls appeared whiter than ever with black numbers as distance markers for the opening of the '67 season. That's the thing that stands out more to me than the light color of the walls. The black numbers. I've shared my paint primer theory (this includes masking the numbers with black tape), but that's just speculation. I think we all posted thoughts or theories in other threads covering the subject. Lets wrap it up. Give me your official theory as to why the wall was white®. Both serious and funny theories would be appreciated.
  8. Can't say the same for his bat but his fielding at first has been very impressive to me the spring. We got that covered 3 times over so unless more things go drastically wrong, yea, c u in Sept.

  10. Another incredible pic! Of course its shadow and light that makes RF look darker. You can see that if you look beyond to the bullpen wall, still in sunlight. Sun is almost right overhead. Fantastic photograph. Did anyone claim it was pure white? In my primer white theory the primer coat does not completely obliterate the old green color. Some shows through so it looks white with a green tinge to it. They let that set for a week to 10 days in the elements & then painted the wall the proper color.

  12. He's getting blurrier in his old age. I did this thing to the Botz pic--tried to totally re-color it. This was after I softened the colors for his 62t card. This was done a long time ago for his Sadecki Spot card. I don't think I posted it here. I thought it was horrible and left off on it, but I just saw it the other day and it does look interesting. Ill finish up that card and post it here.
  13. batmagadanleadoff wrote: The "caps" were cloth fabric that stretched over the plastic helmet mold that was the roof of the cart. Wow. I did not know that. Amazin'. I really thought there was a giant hat collection in the bowls of Shea.
  14. Watching this. Plawecki : Nice pop from a tight swing. Monell: That was a shot! Murph: Oy, I'm your biggest fan but how could you let Valde beat you on a rountine grounder? Come on! Get your head in the game! Charge that shit!
  15. I never saw it without the NY, or not blue. I thought that was painted right on the hat-top. Was the blue part with the NY a covering? Or is that just all dirty and faded. Looks like it was in a fire. So were the different hats they used on the visitors cart pulled over the hat shaped top, like a cloth covering? Or painted on? I kinda thought there were a bunch of giant plastic hats out somewhere by the visitors bullpen & they'd switch the entire top piece.

That wall's primer white, forevermore to be known as toothpaste. Boyer at 3rd! Tommy Davis in left? Ernie Banks at SS! Room for 3 in that DeLorean? batmagadanleadoff wrote: [fimg=444]https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8632/16660168578_64ef7560cb_o.jpg[/fimg] People are laughing at Gusti. Or at the golf cart. I would think that would be pretty early in the history of bullpens to have a player driven in. I wonder when that started. Could that have started at Shea, using a vehicle to bring the pitcher in from the pen? I remember when I first saw the METcapCar in the early 70's. I thought it was as kool as the '66 Batmobile. That's high praise coming from me.
  17. Wow, what a shot. That is quite a find. That has to go on a card. 67 or 68 Topps? Whats this shit about aqua green? Are you saying that cause it's St Patty's Day?
  18. Shit. The air is escaping from my bubble and it's only Spring.
  19. Mets Guy in Michigan wrote: I can't figure out what Topps is trying to do with the new designs. What's in the border? Is that supposed to be rocks? Infield dirt? And what's with the white lines around the team logo and in the background under the name? Is that some kind of electronics motif? Border looks to be just foily glitz that fades from silver to the team color. The circles eminating from the team logo is just a design touch. I thought it was a thumb print when I first saw them on-line. Yea, behind the name is 'puter chipish. I reserved judgement until I saw one with my own eyes, and personally I like the design. That the color scheme of the card matches the teams color theme, that's a big plus with me. MGIM gets an early birthday present because ever since I saw the pic (on fb or here?) I had to whip up a card from it. Don't fret. I'll still bake you a Mets cake.
  20. That was a shot.
  21. Mayboomberry!
  22. Wow. Laggy w/a triBOOM. We got the best hitting team of the Spring!
  23. That's what I've been hoping to see. Wright a 3 run KaBoom to deeeeeep center. 4-0 Mets
