[fimg=500]http://forgotten-ny.com/wp-content/gallery/streetscenes_shea2_13/old-1965-scoreboard.jpg[/fimg] And congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Allen while we're at it. Oh, you guys are talking about the outta town sections? I wasn't quite following , I didn't hear what Gary said.

But didn't the scorecard indicate the pitcher's uniform number rather than some arbitrary sequential number? It wouldn't be 1 Cuellar 2 Dobson 3 McNally 4 Palmer. (Would it?) Yes it was. Just like they were talking about at Wrigley still to this day, the active pitchers for each team were listed alphabetically in the program which corresponded to the number on the scoreboard. Don't remember specifically when they 'updated' to the uniform number but it definitely existed for a while. Maybe one of the guys around here who specializes in dredging up old photos of Shea will come up with one where all the pitchers seemed to have single digit numbers. The only difference in those days is that the numbers only went up to 9 or 10. Tonight in Wrigley some team was using pitcher #15 Shoot. I've collected any decent pic I have ever found of the old monster but that folder is still on my old PC. I'll get to it though. I was fascinated with that scoreboard. That's why I felt compelled to sneak up into it after a game once back in the early 70's.
  3. lol. They got throwing back the homer thing down pat. Isn't it like super weak that they don't throw back the actual ball. Doesn't that water the whole gesture down?
  4. Adam Rubin ?@AdamRubinESPN 1m1 minute ago Steven Matz is now 0-4 with a 4.73 ERA in his past nine starts. #mets No Wilmer KB? *slaps forehead.
  5. Jeeze Loueeze Travis, learn how to properly block a pitch. You don't back hand that. Apply yourself. Drop to your knees, get low to the ground, put that glove face open to close that hole under your ass. I think he may be the cause of all his injuries. On that play, if he did it right he wouldn't have a bruised neck.
  6. Edgy MD wrote: Well, that at-bat stunk. Rizzo hit so many fouls that Matz seemed to run out of ideas, went with the change, and KAPOWIE. The online game pitch chart thing has it looking like an outside pitch. Did he hang one out there?
  7. Glad I caught that. Flores didn't. That was embarraskin. Better not cost us. Shit, steals second.
  8. Hows this game goin? Eww. Do we have a hit?
  9. Did anyone read this^? I had read and heard many things about Cole, but this is the only thing that ever had me coming away thinking, man, what could have been... Wright, Reyes, & Cole.
  10. What about Wheeler? Is he untouchable? I don't want to see Conforto, Nimmo, or anyone cept deAza moved. Some folks say we can get something for Wilmer cause he's hot. I don't think we get anything extra for that. All players get hot sometimes. If it's true that they can get more value for him because of this heat, then do it. Also, I'd rather not see Wilmer go, but in a case like that I'd get over it. Tyler Clipart supposed to be available. Do we bring him back?
  11. This really doesn't belong here but I know we have Brian Cole fans and I wanted to share it. I looked 5 pages back for a better choice. I haven't even read this myself yet. Just ran into it. http://www.si.com/vault/2013/04/01/106303842/the-best-player-you-never-saw?xid=si_social [fimg=700]http://cdn-s3.si.com/s3fs-public/brian-cole-mets.jpg[/fimg] OE: This is a great read. Excellent.
  12. I wish Cespedes would play right. Someone has to convince him that he can't say he has the best arm in the game if he don't show us some rightfield to 3rd laser beams. That still wouldn't solve this problem though. Would Conforto and Nimmo be similar in value? I feel Conforto showed us more when he was doing well. But Nimmo could be a little spark plug. I'd hate to see either gone. I don't think you move Granderson for this run. If we fall out of it I'd be okay with that.
  13. seawolf17 wrote: Topps made the Yo card before it was announced he wasn't starting. They honored all the elected starters. OO, you take your cards serious. Sorry, I meant that as a joke. I figured they jumped the gun. So quick to grab those NY bucks. I guess that can be kind of kool tho, having a card that says Cespedes was in an ASG that he wasn't in.
  14. batmagadanleadoff wrote: I love complete game shutouts. I wish they weren't as rare as they are, but that's probably what makes them special. The Mets have never had a season in which they didn't have at least one CG/ShO, but they only had one in each of the last two years. (Zack Wheeler in 2014 and Bartolo Colon in 2015.) http://leaptoad.com/mets/yrleaders.php?cattype=p#sho Wow! Seaver didn't throw a CG/SHO until 1971, his 5th season. Also, the Mets never had a season in which four different pitchers threw CG/SHO's. Wow. I would have thought he had a few under his belt by then. What about the almost no-no vs. the Cubs in '69?
  15. Nats lose to Pitt in 18 innings, 2-1 (Marte HR).
  16. Wow. Impressive. It hasn't happened since the Titanic roamed the ocean. And a ToppsNOW error card. No other Mets honored for the ASG. GJ Topps.
  17. What a fantastic and much needed outing by the deGrominator.
  18. Benjamin Grimm wrote: It's nice how Terry has given Wilmer Flores every opportunity to get over his hot streak by not playing. This is kinda strange & surprising. TC usually plays the hot hand.
  19. Lefty Specialist wrote: White Flag alert- Bastardo in the game. Ha! I thought the same thing. Lefty Specialist wrote: White Flag alert #2- De Aza in the on-deck circle in the 9th. By this point I was numb. Booo, wanted a sweep here. Taking the series is acceptable. LGM!
  20. Alls I can say is that I hope with all my heart that he gets it done. It would be a fitting cap to his career.
  21. I'm good with get em' on, get em' over, get em' in, RAWHIIIIIIIDE! OE: I should have snapped my whip~~*
  22. Nice rip. I love how Philly OFers give up on the drives. That may have had no chance but it looks cheesy. And the best catches are the ones you never expect to make. Niiiiiiiice. Again a sac fly plates another run. This is what I'm talking about. Okay, now you can hit a few homers. 2-1 Mets
  23. Verrett vs. lefties? eh, not as good.
  24. Rockin' Doc wrote: Awesome. Let me know should I need to relocate. The way the Mets hit, I suspect they could collectively benefit from thorough vision examinations. And they should probably eat more carrots and shit. I'll leave you in charge. Damn, Nimmo just missed one.
