  2. ...aaaaand Cabrera might have hurt himself bad running the bases. Looked like his knee. Looked pretty bad. Slipped on 3rd rounding the bag. [crossout:2j9neswy]1-0 Mets[/crossout:2j9neswy] 1-1 Mets

  4. I also have to apologize for the IGT title (re:sweep). I thought this was the last game in the series. Now if that wasn't a jinx I don't know what is. I don't know if removing that will do anything, but I'll try anything when it come's to the Mets.

  6. That really sucked. A 9th inning bomb would have been something to take away from this pathetic game. Mets lost. Flores gets ripped off. I'm pissed.
  7. Oh man. They call the HR fan interference. Flores out. Oh maaan.
  8. Ha. Flores goes kaBOOM into a fans glove, a fan who may have been hanging over too far.
  9. And nice inning by bubblebutt.
  10. Nice block by d'Arnaud. None of that backhand shit.
  11. Does lil 'd really think it's wise to replant himself from behind the plate to the outside for the outside pitch? Who teaches this shit?
  12. Ruggiano goes where God leads him and Lord knows we could use some divine intervention. Some advice to Justin: avoid twitter.
  13. Including what he brings behind the plate as well, very significant IMO. At least as it stands now. If Travis can start to block pitches properly and throw a few guys out we wouldn't even be considering this move. I like lil d' too, but it's crunch time and he ain't cutting' it.
  14. I dig the 31 patch. Having a big one on the cap is typical overkill, but in this case I like that too. I might be able to afford the cap.
  15. I didn't think Ruggiano could fall into my bad graces so quickly after such a phenomenal effort on that drive in the gap. Well, not bad graces. He just canceled the good buzz I had.

  18. Is this the first number retired away from Shea? 1st Citi Field retirement?
  19. At least that's the plan. Mets right-hander Bartolo Colon will oppose Rockies left-hander Jorge De La Rosa in a battle of rotation elder statesmen. Colon, who earned the win in the second game of a doubleheader against the Cardinals on Tuesday, will be starting on three days rest for the first time since 2005. The 43-year-old is not only the only pitcher older than 28 in the New York rotation but also the oldest player in baseball. Prior to Saturday's game, the Mets will retire the number 31 worn by recent Hall of Fame inductee Mike Piazza, who played for the team from 1998-2005.
  20. A split could have pulled me out of my funk. When it comes to Bastardo TC will say, well, that's who I have behind Blevins in that situation. And he would have a point. But what's the point of helping the pen when we can't score runs. So we need both a bat and an arm that will make a difference. Tall order. Can Sandy fill it?
  21. I do suppose Blevins could have used a day. But Bastardo? Sandy, we need some left arms out there. Arms that can pitch.
  22. Meh, so much for that comeback. Fuck you Bastardo.
  23. Embarrasskin'. So we throw in the Bastardo white towel down by 2 runs in the 9th now? A 9th inning comeback would erase so much stink right now.
  24. Terry's moves: - as I said at the time, although I didn't want to PH for deGrom, it was the right move. It was a major situation run scoring opportunity (2nd & 3rd/none out) and, for all the talk about what a good hitter JdG is, he has 3 hits this entire season and has K'd just under 1/3 of the time. - using Cespedes there was the right move too. Yeah you pretty much knew he was going to get walked but that's OK too since it uses him without taxing him. Then I also liked that it was a pitcher PR'ing for him so as to not waste a player on a day with a short bench. The alternative there is saving him for some other PH situation that might never come up - and what are the odds that there was going to be a better one than that: 2nd & 3rd/no outs and already the bottom of the 8th?? - I was less OK with PH'ing Johnson for Lagares but mostly for the defense it might (though didn't) cost us later than the move itself. But I understand the thinking; with the team hitting as poorly as it has lately leaving Juan in there vs RHPs (where he's hitting .224) is not going for even the smallest edge you can find. And I'm certainly not buying the logic that because the black cloud is so thick right now that it's all going to fail anyway so let's all just throw our hands up and not bother trying. - I would have gone to Robles to start the 8th with the idea of going to Reed in the 9th. And not just because Familia blew the save the night before (in a way I was almost glad the streak is over) but for the several games he had pitched in a row and for the thing that's kind of gone unnoticed this season with all the emphasis on his streak ... that Reed's been the better pitcher all year: lower ERA (by a full run), lower WHiP (by almost 50%!!), fewer batters faced in the same amount of innings. What's saved JF has been that he generates more ground balls (9 GiDPs) and that he keeps it in the park (0 HRs). He probably needed the break and I don't feel like you're losing much (if anything) replacing Reed/Familia with Robles/Reed That said, Jeurys was actually was more unlucky today than bad after so many games lately of it being the other way around. Broken bats hits, seeing-eye hits, bunts that didn't roll foul, etc. The walk killed him but it's not like that's a rarity with him. Not blameless, but also not terrible. - Once Reed was in I would have been tempted to let him finish the inning on just about anyone except maybe Carlos Gonzalez when one swing ties the game. But CG hits 50 points less vs LHPs and was 0-3 w/2 Ks vs Blevins ... and now he's 0-4 w/3 Ks All IMHO of course. oe: and lest we forget where the real problem lies: we scored one run today and 15 over the last 6 games, that's not a formula for winning under any strategy. Excellent breakdown. I didn't know that about Reed, even though watching as many games as I do, I should have. That's fascinating.
