Reyes already broke the lineup once (or twice!) coming back and hitting first (then third) while he still needed to shake a ton of rust off. I'm think that maybe he should start in as the number six hitter and we'll see how things develop. Well, there's the problem. I don't understand why they didn't promote him to Buffalo for the weekend. at least semi real pitchers there. I also don't understand why he was in NY yesterday. Why fly up just for the day, or why is he not staying in St. Lucie for games the next three days? Isn't 4 days off likely to make him rustier? Davis has a good game yesterday, but he's been slumping for a while. He needed to be dropped down, Beltran was coming back anyway..kinda works for me. I'm not expecting Beltran to smash it, but he has been swinging, unlike Reyes who was at best watching guys swing in movies like the Natural.
  2. I've got no problem with Frenchy as the righty off the bench (can't really be worse than Tatis) I'm still befuddled by the three catchers thing(and the use of them), the carrying of Carter as a DH/5th OF.. (which is what Evans is too? or is Evans the CI guy?) I've tired of Francoeur a bit. I know he gives a good interview and is polite and all that, but there's just something about him that bugs me. Maybe it's the links to the rumors about him having less than positive things to say about Strawberry or Perez to the public but not to the players themselves. Maybe it's the inability to become a good ballplayer, despite all the opportunities. Yeah, great, he plays the game hard. I like that he's aggressive and will throw behind runners, try to geta the 9-3 put out, always make an aggressive throw, etc..but if you haven't noticed, Pagan does the same thing. And almost as well at least in terms of actual outfield assists. Oh, and Carlos Beltran does too. I think people may be forgetting just how 5-tool Carlos Beltran really is.
  3. omg..was that just a sneaky Gatorade product placement ad via "ump microphone" featuring him getting a bottle of the stuff?
  4. Well..only 13 more innings for Frenchy as a starting RFer..right? right?!
  5. well fine then. dislike Reyes hitting second. still. What will Fox say?

If I'm one of the winners do I have to swap my shirt with the Mets player who is giving me the jersey off his back? Where's the "Let's Get Naked" image when you need it? Definitely. And youre' disqualified if you're wearing a Bay Jersey but get selected for Wright's, or vice versa.

So if the Crane Pool Forum were having an event, you might suggest everyone use #cpf when talking about it. Makes it easier to group, and easier to search (although Mets returns stuff just fine, but some things aren't as clear). also, I think tweets tagged #mets gets linked to on certain mlb and mlb at bat gameday thingies.

It'd be ridiculously easy to have a camera in the outfield, a guy in the clubhouse watching it, and a really tiny speaker embedded in a cap, or a helmet, or a color, or an earring/necklace. "Hey Chase, slider in the dirt, lay off" For that matter, think about how easy it would be to put hidden mics in the visitors dugout and bullpen. The cynic in me says I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't already happen, honestly. I agree, sadly. bugs on the mound too, listen in to pitcher-coach conversations. A lot of the difficulty is getting this info into the right hands fast enough, but there is no way teams arent' doing things.

  11. Lefty: Perez.
  12. Edgy DC wrote: The problem is that any appearance by Rivera would likely be in a game-critical situation and your chips have to be on the right side of the table at such moments. What's with Linda Cohn absolving these guys from steroid suspicion? Has nobody learned their lesson? apparently not. I've always thought Rivera basically fits the profile of a steroid user in the 90s. Failed starter, surgery, fringe guy just trying to make it.
  13. depends on the game situation. if Cox pinch hits Chipper in the top of the 9th of a game the Mets are winning 6-1? sure. Even if it's just his last AB and he started, if the Mets are winning, i've got no problem. I like Chipper, in that "respect your enemy" type of way. Mariano? Nah. I guess there's a chance if he was brought in the game specifically for the purpose (and the idea of him being brought in to get cheers from Mets fans is too despicable for me to actually cheer him in that situation) if the Mets were winning. But if he was brought in to the game in normal, save-situation fashion? I wouldn't cheer anyone, Mariano, Babe Ruth, my mother, in that situation.
  14. since 2009 was right around his career, 2008 was injury plagued and bad-luck plagued, and he was dealing with the bone bruise for a lot of this year (and still wasn't really that bad until the end) I really have little concerns about Castillo come back to his .360+ OBP self as well as playing the adequate defense he's capable of, and was, playing. Got + defenders on both sides of him anyway. I think his pitch taking adds a lot to this lineup that's a little aggressive, which does work for them a lot, but there are times the opposing pitcher is cruising to low pitch counts that Castillo breaking up a rhythm a bit would help. I don't know where to bat him though. I like Castillo 2nd because it gives more RBIs to Wright and Beltran (and hopefully Bay) but Pagan has played too well to really drop to 6th (and i doubt we put him 5th and Bay 6th). and do we really want to drop Ike to 7th? Even if he's not exactly playing that well right now, I like him a little further up than that. Of all those guys, I do like Castillo 8th the most, but I don't necessarily want him behind Barajas in terms of base clogging, (or trying to drive in the slow Barajas) Maybe Reyes, Castillo, Pagan, Wright, Beltran, Bay, Davis, Barajas, Santana? who knows..i guess it's a good problem to have. I don't think we need to look to significantly upgrade 2B though. Beltran and Castillo are both a + offensively, we can still hope Bay picks it up, and Reyes has been throttled or out for over a week. Pagan missed some time as well. So while the offense has looked a little sour lately, it's also been banged up.
  15. certainly seems that Jerry's preparing Frenchy for a platoon lately.
  16. If i was the Royals RF that ran over, I would've offered to sign the ball for the kid.
