  1. David seems safely in "Will pass Krane for second place all-time next year" territory.
  2. translated: "Bay and Wright, among others, have whined about the walls, and it's in our vested interest to placate them."
  3. http://www.tedquarters.net/2011/09/15/why-do-rosters-expand-in-september/ not that helpful, but it's been going on for over 100 years.

  5. also mentioned that maybe they've moved pitchers (And other prospects) through the minors too slowly. cited roster issues and guys in PSL that could potentially be added to the major league roster.
  6. also, "Closer is probably not in the organization, although he might be." Made it sound like he probably won't necessary seek a 'name' closer, even went so far as to mention a major league ready prospect type guy.
  7. yup. October is 'Reyes month' changes likely to Citi Field, although not decided, and if they are, they won't be subtle. Murphy's a good hitter, a guy you really have to try to work into the lineup, and losing him was a big part of the Mets downturn this season. Rotation will probably be substantially the same, mentioned growth for Niese and Gee, and that that was reasonable to expect. Acknowledged that the quantity of innings was very important, but they have to work on the qualitative.
  8. Duda drives in the first run.
  9. and now he's on third. (Pagan single)
  10. Reyes on to lead off. Furcal probably should've had it, glanced off his glove. ruled a hit.
  11. Steve Colyer, what ever happened to you? Some basics i found in a quick search before dinner. He's married to Julianne and they bought a house after he retired at 160 Cameron Road Glasgow Village CDP, MO 63137 for $78,788 Property taxes: $1,328.38 (2010) streetview isn't quiet a mansion. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=148+Cameron+Road,+Saint+Louis,+Missouri&hl=en≪=38.753138,-90.197411&spn=0.006886,0.009645&sll=38.753146,-90.197452&sspn=0.006295,0.006295&layer=c&cbp=13,267.57,,0,21.51&cbll=38.753097,-90.197318&t=h&z=17&vpsrc=0&panoid=lPHhErB2Ni4wazdeD1likA There's a good chance his wife Julie works at a beauty salon: "Clare's of Clayton Salon is an upscale salon, an oasis tucked in the heart of Clayton. The salon specializes in lively, believable color and modern styles to enhance image and lifestyle. Let one of Clare's designers create a beautiful look that is right for you." How about Pat Strange?

And one more triple for Jose Reyes, in case these are his final days as a Met. His career total is now at 99, and it would be nice to get the club record into triple digits. good one. I'll settle for no 0-47 for Bay. 5+ XBH would be nice, but as so would just hitting the ball hard a lot and not looking fooled for any stretch of time.
  13. Frayed Knot wrote: Yanx are going to have a big say in things as they finish with 9 games against Tampa-Boston-Tampa If they lose out, they're probably out.
  14. I think the two* days off for Reyes is going to propel him into a hot streak.
  15. Edgy DC wrote: There'll never be another Michael Jackson. the beer guy?
  16. I don't think he tops Franco.
  17. Nymr83 wrote: congrats on your 602nd save, shmuck. I'm just posting because i'm watching Giants-Rams and the little halftime news blurb included the news that Rivera now holds the save record. Berman called him a hall of famer (ok, fine) but then went on to say "and a hall of fame person" what??? does ESPN not remember DEAD PEOPLE IN HIS ELECTRIFIED POOL??? I understand thats not the story today but could you at least gush over his career without calling him a great person? statistically, the difference in save percentage from Nathan, Papelbon, Rivera, Hoffman is practically nil. You can call him the greatest ever if you want I suppose, but maybe if you do, do it because you looked at the numbers, not because you're parroting ESPN.
  18. Edgy DC wrote: No hitter. I feel like we've built this thing up so much that I'd rather it come in a super relevant context, but maybe it'd be appropriate for it to happen when only like 7 die-hard Mets fans are actually watching.
  19. anything, as long as it's baseball. Would be nice to see Duda finish above .300 and Bay get at least 5 more XBHs.
  20. Those don't even look like shots of Shea from this century.
  21. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: For Carlos, and out of thanks for Zach Wheeler, I'm putting my hopes in the Beltr-ants Miracle Run 2011, people. Bulee dat. just for "Well, that's odd" sakes. I want the Giants and Cards to make it and advance to the NLCS so Beltran can play in his third NLCS...against the Cardinals. (In which he's hit better than Babe Ruth and lost each time) on edit, maybe not. Carlos had a 1.5ish OPS against the Cards in the first series, whereas Ruth had a 1.44, but Carlos only had a 1.054 OPS in the second series, which wasn't even close to Ruth's _SlG_ (1.375) in the '28 WS
  22. Frayed Knot wrote: The NL WC race is suddenly getting warmer. Our weekend with the Braves helped to whittle their WC lead to 3.5 over streaking StL, and 4.0 over streaking SF. Also, they can't be happy about the Cards' seemingly soft schedule. Braves (9): at Florida for 3 -- at Wash for 3 -- Phillies for 3 Cards (10) and winners of 9 of their last 10: one more at Philly (and Holliday) -- 3 with Mets -- 3 with Cubs -- 3 at Houston Giants (9) and winners of 8 straight: 3 at Dodgers -- 3 at Arizona -- 3 with Rockies DBacks (9): All home Pitt for 3 -- Giants for 3 -- Dodgers for 3 Still sitting in a nice spot although their 5-game NL West lead over Giants was 9.5 a week ago and they do have a head-to-head coming up. So either we can lose to the Cards this week and throw a wrench into the Braves plans, or kick some Cardinal hiney and end their season. we owe the Cards some season ending don't we? Maybe that's the magical elixir the Mets need.
  23. this seems odd timing, but interesting anyway.
  24. randomly stumbled on this tidbit in an email chat from 9/21/2008, made me sad. wife: mets win? me: losing. wife: ISN'T IT OVER? me: no Manuel is trying to use every pitcher.
  25. so why did Fox just decide to air Atlanta's broadcast?
