I just don't see that providing enough improvement in the run prevention dept to make up for not getting Murphy the extra two weeks of 2B reps.
  2. Hunter Pence plays right field. He's been a pretty solid outfielder for the Astros before being acquired last year by the Phillies for Jarred Cosart (minors), Jonathan Singleton (minors) and Josh Zeid (minors). He's making 10 million and arb eligible for the final time next year. He played well above his ability last year for the Phillies, and is off to a hot start this year, b ut will probably settling in somewhere in the low .800s range for OPS with 20-25 HR. He used to be good for 10-20 SB and atl east half as many CS, but he didn't really run last year. Probably realized he wasn't actually good at it. B-R credits him as being slightly below average defensively, but he is fast. He's a Twitter guy and today's his birthday. hunterpence3 wrote: And yes I bought some bacon! and bah, I missed the Pence part above. screw it.
  3. I missed that place I guess. That's along one of the 'towns' along the main highway?
  4. sounds like DL likely for Wright, who still can't swing/swollen pinky. Will try again tomorrow, but who knows if one day suddenly makes a difference. Collins apparently confirms Murphy would go to third, Cedeno/Turner at second which seems like the universally panned move by critics. I support Murphy-Lutz in the infield myself.
  5. http://www.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120413&content_id=28564022&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb Miguel Cabrera stepped to the plate with two outs in the top of the first inning and immediately pointed to the batter's box, arguing that it didn't extend far enough back. As it turned out, he was right. Crew chief Gary Cederstrom confirmed that the box was drawn too far forward and stopped the game for the grounds crew to rechalk the lines. Crazy. And kudos to Miguel Cabrera for immediately recognizing it.
  6. I love when teams do something that's against all 'convention' but is well thought out.
  7. I saw somewhere that the Yankees are honoring their 100th Opening Day. Does that mean they're ignoring the Oriole Days? (And the Highlander days even)
  8. Love Chickie and Petes. Haven't been there since early 2007 when Phillies fans were hoping prospects would come up soon and make them good. pfffft.
  9. I was under the impression the Marlins wanted that first home home to show off the stadium. And that's what started the mess. It's not a getaway day for the Phillies, they host the Amazin's tomorrow, so the late start tonight is probably because of that.
  10. The counter argument is that if you can steal wins that way while not hitting, it minimizes the losses while you're offense is slumping.

Citi's main video board is 50x70 (RF board is 40x90) CBP's is new last year, 76x97 Target Field: 57' x 101' don't see sizes listed for the Nats (who I thought had a pretty huge one (it's 4500sq ft so..60x75? ) or the Marlins, or the Yankees. edit: Yankees is 59x101

I've never thought it was small. It's not like it does much, the other one's the one with all the info. Is there stats for that? scoreboard size?

I'm very pro-education and all, but I think this is the only advertisement in the entire place I truly hate. the LIU is just..too big.

  19. Frayed Knot wrote: Have you seen attendance at A's games recently? Frenchy could afford to buy pizzas for everyone in the stadium just on whatever he carries with him. It's the Nets syndrome (not that they drew well to begin with) since everyone knows they're leaving.
  20. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Ceetar wrote: The Nationals scored 4 runs..and left 14 guys on base. 1/14 with RISP. struck out 10 times themselves. Yes and they kicked our ass going away. If they were at all competent they'd have put up a dozen runs today, either way they were clearly the better squad in this series. well yeah, they were better, they just weren't good.

  22. I think the Mets have out-sucked the Nats in this game/series more than the Nats out-playing the Mets. Not quite what you'd expect from a battle for first place.
  23. Edgy DC wrote: Boom. Ugly game over. Double-switching out Bay was telling. Was that while Collins was still at the wheel or was that (technically, anyhow) Geren's call? he was in the process of double-switching when he got thrown out. That's why he was on the field.

  25. walks Werth, pulled after discussion. 99 pitches. If he bounces back from this one feeling okay, he'll actually be right around where most pitchers are. 100 pitches. His next two are with the extra day of rest.
