  3. The weirdest 1-2-3 inning you'll see in a while. Way too shallow by Bay and a double drops in, 6-3 advances the runner. Then a passed ball by Thole is retrieved in time for the 2-1 putout with a nice tag and then Mccann flies out to LF.
  4. Here's a good over/under. 128 more (so 133?) strikeouts for Johan Santana on the season. That's the number he needs for 2000.

Yeah, but the ghosts of MFY Stadium would know, smartass. He's GOT to give them their due. Also, who calls into a show WHILE a game they're watching is in progress? People that want to yell? people that tapped into the Seder wine (or Good Friday wine, your pick) a little early? Not only did he break into the interview to update this when Pena hit the grand slam, he didn't even know who was up. (at least he was paying attention to Dickey) so he had to ask the producer who hit it. The little bit I do listen to his show I get the feeling his ideal show is him watching sports and just sorta BSing about it. Probably was annoyed someone scheduled a Dickey interview during the beginning of the Yankees game.
  6. Kong76 wrote: Lengthy and all-over-the-map interview with RA yesterday on Fatcessa's show. Mike can be annoying on so many levels but he does do good interviews. If the interview is on WFAN's site, I highly recommend it. 14-6, 3.67 sometimes anyway. his Dickey interview wasn't bad, except for has randomly breaking into it to update the Yankees score (like anyone that really cares isn't on 880?) and then talking about how if he wasn't talking to Dickey he'd be talking to callers wanting to kill Sabathia. The rest of it was good though. I enjoyed the part where they discussed how Manuel basically didn't believe in him.
  7. METS Tejada-SS, Murphy-2B, Wright-3B, Davis-1B, Bay-LF, Duda-RF, Thole-C, Nieuwenhuis-CF, Dickey-RHP. 7/8 position players homegrown. And Jason Bay did get a little watering down there. Braves Bourn 8, Prado 7, McCann 2, Uggla 4, Freeman 3, Heyward 9, Francisco 5, Pastornicky 6, Jurrjens 1.
  8. and Francoeur got picked off second after a double.
  9. Only 6 Mets, 24% of the active roster, played in Shea Stadium as a Met. Parnell and Niese only twice. Murphy only for that last two months. Santana, Pelfrey, and Wright are the only three that even really remember 'collapsing'. When the other three showed up they were already falling down. Also means most of them don't remember the Mets being a winning team. I'm wondering if that's why people are talking about Citi Field feeling more like home. We remember Reyes and Beltran playing there, but most of these guys are Citi guys.

  11. Stolen Base for Beltran too btw. 6 more until he's the 8th member of the 300/300 club.
  12. What seems funny to me is that they walked the bases loaded and pitched to Rodriguez. Rodriguez is the guy they intentionally walked in the first to get to Pena. They also intentionally walked him later on too, as YES graphic said he had two IBB. So he's scary in the first but you seek him out in the lineup in the highest leverage part of the game? that's just wacky.
  13. Well, this wasn't really a lefty specialist. This was Johnny Venters. Sure, he holds lefties to a .402 OPS last season, but he held righties to a .545 OPS too. but I get what you're saying. It's funny how we didn't worry about this stuff as much when we had Reyes and Beltran. The Mets are VERY lefty heavy now. Tejada, Wright, Bay. From that stance I might agree with moving 'em around in the lineup. Get the real lefty-masher in Wright right in the middle of the mess. Still, I like Duda behind Bay right now. Yes, both Davis and Duda need to hit lefties, but we saw yesterday even with Venters they were willing to pitch around Bay. So let them. I honestly trust Duda being the guy to get the shot than pitching around Duda to get to Bay with a righty reliever. While I want Duda to get the chance against the southpaws, you also give yourself the option to use Hairston as both the lefty-mashing bench guy pinchhitting for duda, but then leave him in for defense in RF. efficient.
  14. I don't miss him more, just as much though. I don't really care how guys leave the team. Caught the end of the Rays game, watching SF-ARI now. can't get enough baseball. baseball! Lincecum's already given up 3 though, and our friend Pagan popped out with 2 on.
  15. Go Carlos!

Someone with Blue Point last week told me on Twitter that they'd be getting cans of them soon, so maybe once that happens. Or maybe it was an opening day oversight. It was really crowded so not as easy to look around.
  17. random thought: I wish the foul poles were like giant tuning forks so that a slight clank by the ball causes a cool noise.
  18. we should've started an OOT thread. Apparently Girardi walked Sean Rodriguez for the L-L matchup before Pena.
  19. We'll see him again May 1st and his primary role will be to pinch runner for Duda after he doubles in the go-ahead run in the 8th and be the defensive replacement in RF.

  23. I expect him to be mountain-climbingly awesome. (or really, give me his Mets career numbers and that's what I expect) 3.08 ERA, 210 IP, 140K, 15-9, 33 starts.
  24. Edgy DC wrote: Have they just gone through the data until they can serve up a slice for each Met that makes them look like Ted Williams? That feels like something the Nats' scoreboard would do. They always do this, as long as I can remember at Shea even. They do it at most parks. It's always worse in the early parts of the season, or for bench players. One of Duda's was about his first triple.
