Rauch needs to prove he's healthy anyway. Hasn't allowed a run since June 23rd against the Yankees. 1 run. I don't know that it's worth moving these guys for minor league roster filler, which is mostly what you're getting for them. Just roll with it. Even if you don't put much stock in them making a run they could still buy some pieces here and there, that may have more long term value. It's not as easy to do obviously, but it could happen.

And to show up at the park only to see their hero suited up in the colors of the hated adversary had to have been a real kick in the gut on top of that. There were probably fans there last night, that were running late and got there in the second, didn't look closely at the lineups, and were just suddenly blindsided by Ichiro batting in the top of the third.
  3. Edgy DC wrote: Easy. I just had to do some moving around. More importantly, initial reports appear incorrect, and it's not Harvey replacing Beato, but Acosta joining the team. Good for Sandy. that only makes sense, so I don't know why people were jumping to the Harvey conclusion (or maybe the Taxi squad rules limit the duration he can hang around?) but it's..probably?..a position player going for Harvey.

  5. If momentum is only as good as the next day's starter, we're in pretty good shape. R.A. Dickey They have some guy named after a rock..geo..Gio Gonzalez.
  6. Beato, not Elvin.
  7. Edgy DC wrote: Left, center, and right should be in a pretty straight platoon at this point. Need to find a catcher to take the lefties also. I'm still open to bringing up the Pascucci to play some first against lefties. Almost everybody should feel on notice right now. might be too late. I don't even know if the platoon thing is gonna work. Duda's not hitting anyone. Kirk's not hitting anyone. Torres is doing okay. Bay's not hitting anything. Hairston's doing good but does have some pretty bad AB sometimes and is very feast and famine. Valdespin too. Even shoving Jason Bay into that mess doesn't seem to..make an outfield. Thole's platoon split isn't that bad, except he doesn't walk against lefties. He's got a 800+ OPS both in the last 7, and last 14 days. (But yes, Nickeas is worthless and is inevitably going to get AB because it's catcher and the backups get playing time)

It makes no sense to fall out of contention THEN make a deal. He should have brought someone in when they still had a chance. With all due respect, MGiM, the bullpen's failures aren't the reason for this slump; they're A reason. I'm not sure what one or two relievers would have done to help this team execute better defensively or offensively. Also... we're NOT going to plunk Bernardina for the shitty slide? That fucking figures. bullpen has been somewhat 'okay' for most of the last two months, it's been the offense and defense. And you can't even clearly say its' the "bad guys" doing it, because Tejada's poor play today was a big contributor defensively. Duda has had 2 xbhs in a month. Ike was nonexistent early. Kirk and Jordany think pitches thrown in Yankee Stadium are in the strike zone. Jordany swung at a _wild pitch_ today. Murphy disappeared for a month as well, as did Thole. You can live with a guy slumping here and there, but not when multiple guys do it and they slump so hard, not even getting cheap dribbler hits or walks.

JCL wins the Vinnie Rottino bobblehead. It was Rubin that reported 70 to begin with. Right. He warmed up in a spare 70 jersey while waiting for his bespoke jersey to come back from Mohan's. 70 was his spring training one, so they probably already had that BP one made for him. worked out perfectly. but fine, 33.

  13. they're saying 70. interesting.

  15. I'll be sitting dead center for this one, near the apple.

  17. We went yesterday. First time a tough loss felt like a perfect day at the ballpark. On Edit: How do I post a picture from Facebook? load up the picture, right click, 'copy image url' should work.
  18. Nymr83 wrote: Who else can I follow on twitter, I'm done following Adam Rubin if he's going to be re-tweeting Snooki all day (seriously) I dunno, they all suck. hah. MLB: @AnthonyDiComo Record: @mikekerwick Star-Ledger: @McCulloughSL Kevin's pretty good too. @KBurkhardtSNY All the beat writers, for the most part, tweet and announce all the same lineups/news and whatnot. You might miss out on an ESPN story by not following Rubin, or a Post story by not following Puma, but that's mostly it.

  21. That comment from Lo Duca always seemed more a dig at the media guys laziness than a knock at his teammates. But I could see how they wouldn't want to spin it that way.
  22. The Second Spitter wrote: I'm betting he'll take 45. Or maybe 46. clearly not getting 43. If he wants to go one up sequentially he'll skip Bay and have 45 or 46 depending on if he wants to leave 45 for Wheeler. I doubt the Mets will let him flip it to 34 even if Pelfrey might be done as a Met. He could double it and take 86, but that wouldn't lessen the pressure on him ;-) my bet's on 46. should we do a poll?
  23. It's Star Wars night and [crossout]Mets[/crossout]W.B. Mason collectible truck night. cliff not included.
  24. Edgy DC wrote: Tracky wasn't exactly on the job in the LoDuca/Delgado era. so his perception of it is purely from the other beat writers/narrative. Which he admits (I think?) by calling it a loaded dynamic? And then finds some way to tie in a political reference about immigration! win!
