1. AND they had the winning run on third with 1 out. tsk tsk. they suck.
2. That'd encourage too many people to lie about close contact. The Nats can probably field a negative-tested team, but some of those may develop symptoms/positive tests tomorrow or the next day. i think the issue is the people that were around the positive test were flying with the whole team, so the whole team is potentially exposed? It'd be nice if MLB was clear on what the different possibilities are, sounds like Saturday is if those contacts are negative, but the original contacts are still Q'd? But if someone tests positive the whole series is basically scrapped. I just hate that the Mets are just sitting around. Find them some vax appointments! Any potential symptoms for the shot will be done by Saturday
3. no opt outs, roughly $5 per deferring to the following decade. Seems confirmed but I guess until the Mets tweet the deal nothing is official-official.
4. April Fools?
5. yeah, it plays into the whole 'play hookey, ignore work' aspect of it.
6. Mr pine tar is Trevor Bauer. couldn't remember the year by year breakdown of his deal.
7. is it not mr pine tar on the other LA team??
8. You may think it's just a joke that Steve Cohen pisses away 60 million like it's nothing to him, but like, he bought a fucking mylar balloon bunny for 91 million.
9. Betts (as did Bauer) went the "personal decision" card, which you know, is like saying it's a personal decision for me to sneeze in your face when I'm sick. Sure, personal decision, but that's a pretty selfish thing to demand.
10. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=59100 time=1617233618 user_id=68] I wonder what the Mets off-season would've been like had the Wilpons managed to hold on to the team for another season? And who here'd be still sticking up for the Wilpons?
11. hope that scares players into getting vaccinated *cough cough* Mookie Betts.
12. "I'm in the midst of failing to extend one of the best players in the game, and a fan favorite outfielder, let's talk about the average asshole I really wanted to give money to"
13. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: I know it's probably sour grapes but read there was some concerns around Lindors effort last year in Cleveland. I try and remind myself of these incidents among the barrage of "best ever" stories that invariably accompany the new guy/rookie he made a quote to Mets reporters about not giving it 100% in the weight room in the second half last year. This guy at least thinks that was just an excuse. https://www.si.com/mlb/indians/opinion/indians-fans-slamming-lindor-for-quitting-should-take-another-look-at-the-landscape-from-2020https://www.si.com/mlb/indians/opinion/indians-fans-slamming-lindor-for-quitting-should-take-another-look-at-the-landscape-from-2020 Lindor did play all 60 games. Maybe they should've just given him a day or two off instead.
14. here's the link to last years (as well as 2018, 2017, and 2016) I don't think anyone finished scoring 2020. This will auto-score too, if all the entries are pasted in. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1YielPWgFwlR_0LnMC6wEHoNa9_O5Sj4xyRsPQHApLnA/edit?usp=sharinghttps://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1YielPWgFwlR_0LnMC6wEHoNa9_O5Sj4xyRsPQHApLnA/edit?usp=sharing

16. fuck that Carlos Beltran slander.
17. Mets are a draw, ESPN is MLB's major customer, and the customer is always right. Players and fans are secondary.
18. or you could whine on Twitter.
19. We'll give you at least a 1/8 chance of getting Lindor. come on!
20. these guys are mostly just filling columns, but floating the idea of deGrom as MVP gives it legs that it wouldn't if someone floated it in September. Gives people all year to be swayed whereas otherwise they might not even consider it until they'd already mentally decided on someone else.
21. 1. The Mets record will be? 95-67 2. Where will The Mets finish in the NL East? ON TOP 3. Will The Mets make the playoffs (yes/no)? yes 4. If so, how far will they advance and the number of games in their final round? ALL THE DAMN WAY 5. Who wins the World Series (can be the same answer a Q.4)? The Mets, obvs 6. How many home runs will Pete Alonso hit? 35 total, 31 in the regular season.
22. I just think of pitchers as part of a team now, instead of single gunslingers. Avengers vs. Spider Man so to speak. Team based instead of single player. You can throw out an Opener if you want, that's the Rogue with sneak attack, and then you have Tank that takes most of the innings, and then you sprinkle in some other players, before going to the Wizard to end it with some fire power. I don't love the subjective stats in baseball as it is, but pitcher wins are already mostly meaningless and frequently subjective, so go for it. Assign the win to the pitcher who was "most pivotal". In a 10-1 blowout, that's going to be the bulk guy, but in a tight 2-1 game it might be the LOOGY that came in to a 2-out bases loaded situation and got the popup. Of course, a popup and a 400 foot home run steal are the same, it's never going to be perfect, but it's interesting. Hey I just thought myself into two post ideas. I wonder what how easy it is to query which pitcher was on the mound for the highest WPA event for each game.
23. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: I got an email from the Mets. They are "reopening" the ticket gates on April 1 to single-game buyers to re-buy tickets for games in April. Not sure what seats will be available or the prices. But capacity will be 20%. My "ticket wallet" still shows games after May 1 but April is gone. The Tuesday Night Club had tix for only 1 game, with both of having been vaxxed by then we'll try. they keep emailing me but when I click through there's "information shortly" as it's been for a week+. I assumed they'd sell the original ticket holders/plans/etc first but i'd be nice to know what the plan was if they're going to keep spamming me.
24. Anyone see this new Mets podcast? They talk about beer too. Voices sound familiar too. https://www.barleyprose.com/podcast/1359/Mets On Tap https://t.co/ltuHiPLTsFApple sub https://t.co/NUSBsSTr1WGoogle Sub
