  2. Zvon wrote: Never thought I'd feel nostalgic about the current TV intro music but I think I did just now. L'il bit. I usually set it as my text ringtone for march, but haevn't gotten around to it. radio broadcast was basically the same. highlights, Howie, off we go.
  3. metirish wrote: Ashamed to admit that I did quite a bit of retweeting. Not ashamed to admit I did the same. I kept it to retweets because you'll only see one if you follow both of us, but hell, most twitter clients support muting/blocking hashtags so I don't really feel bad about it.
  4. I officially sent the "I'm taking off 3/31" email today though so I'll tolerate missing the official beginning of spring if it happens.

I recorded the game at home so I can watch the intro and get all teary eyed. Excited to check out WORs opening though.

Really, for my money, even among phone annoyances, telemarketers are mosquitoes, nowhere near the customer-service-person-you-call-in-an-emergency-who-tries-to-sell-you-additional-protection-or-payment-services-in-the-moment. I've been doing more and more of my customer service stuff over email and twitter, or those live pop-up chats, although obviously that's not possible in the "crap, Mickey stole my wallet and I'm 1000 miles from home without ID or credit cards" type emergencies.

  8. Yeah, "turn off" zones are a necessity these days, and your home should be one if you want it. I turned my home phone ringer off. It's just not worth it and I couldn't take it anymore. Thanks to technology, there is literally a dozen other ways to get a hold of me. Optimum is the (one of the) worst. I switched to FIOS ~5 years ago at this point (not that that's relevant) and I just checked, I have literally 16 phone calls to my house phone so far this year from "CSC Holdings" which is them trying to get me to switch. They've called twice a week every day this week so far. 31 total phone calls since last September.
  9. wow, 7 for the Pirates. I don't think I checked Fox, but I made an attempt at checking ESPN Sunday Night and I think the Pirates had been on it roughly once in 15 years, and never at PNC. I forget though, can Fox flex and choose additional games?

What flicks, or type of flicks, are you not finding that prompts the "outrageously inadequate" comment? i'm talking about the stream only. I mean, almost any movie you'd want to see is unavailable, while lots of pure shit on a stick is at your fingertipts. the whole dvd by mail thing sorta kills the excitement of being able to walk into the place and find what I want, and I think it might cost more too. Yeah, I find the streaming selection somewhat lacking. For a while I was getting the DVDs in the mail and burning them (like, burn, send back the next day, boom new movie) though I'd occasionally run into issues with playback after compressing and ripping the DVDs to my own discs. Movie channels work for that though, I'll record stuff I want to watch in advance. Still doesn't help you if you're not planning far in advance. If I want a movie otherwise I usually find a torrent, but how about Amazon Video? Seems pretty good. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Dinstant-video&field-keywords=the+world%27s+end&rh=n%3A2858778011%2Ck%3Athe+world%27s+end&ajr=0

  12. batmagadanleadoff wrote: Didn't WFAN dump the Mets? (I don't remember the Mets leaving WFAN). Well officially yes, but chances are it's because the Mets didn't want to give them more money ..or take less money, or however the radio-team deals work.
  13. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Adam Rubin wrote: Left-hander Jonathon Niese's MRI exam of his shoulder came back clean Thursday and he will resume throwing in a couple of days. Niese, projected to be the Opening Day starter for the Mets, had been sent back to New York for the medical exam after complaining of shoulder pain. "I wanted to keep it quiet. It's just a precautionary thing to make sure it's not worse from last year," Niese told ESPNNewYork.com on Wednesday. "I just want peace of mind." "Clean." Whatever that means exactly, it's better than the alternative. I remember that pitchers were expected to go through a "dead arm" phase. Maybe this is something innocuous. We'll know soon enough, I guess; see if he makes a few exhibition starts and seems okay. Perhaps given the tear and injury last year, he's justgoing to take a little longer to ramp up from 0 in the Spring.
  14. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Ceetar wrote: G-Fafif wrote: Niese MRI finds no damage. Cleared to throw. yeah, but so is Harvey. #doomed. And that's the Optimistic fan saying that! well tongue in cheek, but.. Niese DOES have a partial tear in his shoulder, which has gone a little unreported in this MRI discussion. He's been managing it through medication and such, but it's still there. Or at least, it's supposed to be. (Did the MRI not find it, or not find anything new?)
  15. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Tellin ya Ceets, your persistent ability to overlook the overarching point is Wilponian at times. For the third time, I'm not talking about the content of the station, or the listeners, or the marketing angle, or anything. Just the message it sends of going low-rent while the organization is breaking its backs to get out of the ghetto otherwise. but it's not low-rent, for those very reasons. I'd argue staying with the tired WFAN format is.

  17. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: That's easy for you to say, you're probably listening to Hannity to begin with. But please, no need to make this so complicated. It's not about the content of 660, it's about a powerful well-known signal (and accompanying FM). How many of you even have 710 as preset in your car? Christ I listen to the radio way more than the average schlub and don;t even stop at that joint by accident. It's like moving from Manhattan to some dump in the suburbs. It's not the right message to accompany an organization in transition. 710 is a strong signal..I dunno. I preset it when they swi..(right..battery swap. I literally have no presets) but this was 100% about marketing. They traded reaching the people on the fringes of the 660 signal, which aren't really the prime targets given the distance) for the tie-in to stations like Z100 where they can do promotional stuff and advertising. Yes, they're (presumably) paying less money to 710 than to 660, but they saw more opportunity in it and that's probably the right move. How many people does this really affect that they care about?
  18. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: I sorta go along with the idea of raising expectations, which sort of goes hand in hand with the changing perception of the organization's depth and future potential. And Fred can go fuck himself. If he were actually all-in on this commitment to being the best they wouldn't have walked away from 660. yes they would've. Fuck 660.
  19. the "everything goes right" scenario Harper lays out is probably 95+
  20. prepare the caskets for.. Niese: arm weakness: back to NY for MRI Calf: Colon issue. Young Jr: Side tightness
  21. Edgy MD wrote: Hard to imagine Young not getting any leadoff time. If he survives camp, he's going to bat leadoff. Is it that hard to imagine? Lagares looks good and they decide his defense is worth it. Batting average particularly, and RBI as well, are a lot of luck anyway so who really knows what Chris Young will hit. .270 of course is higher than he's ever hit, but big Citi Field and some luck and who knows.
  22. Lefty Specialist wrote: I take your boss' numbers. No way Granderson does 31/111 on this team in this stadium. 31 might be a bit high, but batting 5th he should get plenty of opportunity to drive in runs. Especially if Ike channels .440 OBP and bats third. of course if they swap I'm screwed particularly if Eric Young Jr gets leadoff time.

  24. TransMonk wrote: The $130/year option gives access to spring games, too. They also have a $25/month option. If you find it does not hold the value you would like, it's easier to cancel than be stuck with the whole season. Like I said...if you have a smart TV or Roku or any other internet connected TV box, they usually have an MLB.TV app incorporated to watch the games on your TV too. I'm a big fan. Playstation as well I believe. I never get it since I'm in market, but I always sorta want it. I use the app and the audio all the time.
