  2. Edgy MD wrote: The point is to note the progress in the effort to win 300 more games (indeed 361) and get even. I found it interesting and encouraging that as historically slow a slog as that is, even when the team is playing well they've knocked 2.7% off that deficit in the last 10 games. Right, 361 ain't that bad. I'm sure the Math has changed since I last calculated it but the Phillies would have to go 97-65 for like..35 years.
  3. Mets were 17-26 on May 21st 2013. Since then they've played .500 baseball.
  4. I just did the Math for this recently. they're currently 361 games i believe under .500. They were 343 games under from '62-'68. I think there's something to be celebrated about getting to .500 since the first winning season. the Mets would need to finish +27. so 95-67. They're 15 games under .500 in Citi Field.

  6. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I think that a roving reporter can enhance the game. I remember thinking that the guy before Kevin (I forget his name) brought nothing at all to the table, but Kevin has shown that when done right, it can be a good thing. Steve Gelbs is no Kevin Burkhardt, but maybe he'll grow into the job. Or maybe he'll be replaced by someone better. Or maybe we're stuck with him for the next five or six years. I think the problem there is SNY/et all want the sideline guy, and that Kevin happened to be extraordinary with it was a lucky bonus and not something they're selecting for.
  7. Agree on his arm, but on the second throw yesterday you could sorta tell that he was thinking about backtracking, even took a step back before realizing he didn't have time to do that. So at least it's on his mind to do that. So often you see guys just stand there waiting for it. I'll live with the 'playing too shallow' thing that Keith was griping about a little. He's shown it's not too shallow because he can still get to the wall, and this, in the long run, probably saves more soft liners that would fall in front of someone playing deeper.
  8. Mets go for 10-game home opener sweep. Including the sweep of three division 'rivals'. Jeff Wilpon is grumbling about the cost of brooms at the rate they're going through them. Mets have yet to score a 9th inning run, mainly because they haven't batted in the ninth inning since April 12th. Julio (Capital of Iran) against Bartolo (final section of the digestive system)
  9. Centerfield wrote: I thought it was because of Burkhardt too, but even if you just judge him on his own performance, he's still pretty bad. I mean, the guy is just so dorky. Kevin was pretty dorky too, but in a more jovial way? They let Alexa do some interviews in Spring Training. Can we call her up or is there super-two considerations?

  11. Getaway* Day Home Opener!
  12. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Wilmer with more game-tying home runs in a week than Tejada's had in his career. Also hitting three times the number of homers Tulowitzski has this season. he sure times them well. hot few days has him up to a .319 OBP. that'll play..as long as he sorta plays defense.
  13. Jack Bauer drinks crappy tequila and doesn't regret it.
  14. Arnold Palmer is old and needs medication.

  16. Mets haven't won since yesterday. Eric Stults vs Dillon Gee Stults sucks. Gee's due for a good game where he hits his spots. Gee's 48 consecutive starts of at least five innings is the longest active such streak in the Majors and two away from tying Doc Gooden's club record
  17. I'm running out of home openers home opener?
  18. here he is with the family
  19. Niese vs Cahill Niese trying to tie Seaver(among others) for second place among Mets pitchers with a 5-game hitting streak.
