  3. Edgy MD wrote: I'm a vegetarian. So the "play Goeddel everyday at first" gambit.
  4. Edgy MD wrote: Well, I'm referring more to the Lucas Duda of the last six or seven weeks, rather than the Eric Campbell of last evening, who was a more or less acceptable substitute for Shadow-Lucas. yes, much the way a leftover McDonalds hamburger is more or less an acceptable substitute for a prime steak.
  5. Edgy MD wrote: Yeah, that worked out for them last night. As did the Taylor-for-Span thingie. Terry starting Lucas Duda in place of Lucas Duda still remains a bust. you mean Eric Campbell.

  7. Edgy MD wrote: Clint Robinson is playing first base there and den Dekker playing left. Lobaton is catching in place of Wilson Ramos. Adam Rubin has reported that Michael Cuddyer is not in the Mets starting lineup, but the lineup itself isn't posted yet, I assume because they're waiting to see if Giancarlo can fly in by game time. Just confirmed in press conference Recker and Mayberry to start, so you can probably piece it together from there.
  8. #Nationals 7/20 Lineup 1.M Taylor 2.D Espinosa 3.B Harper 4.Y Escobar 5.C Robinson 6.I Desmond 7.J Lobaton 8.M Dekker 9.G Gonzalez
  9. If Ted Lerner weren't fucking broke, they'd have the depth to handle those types of injuries instead of desperately clinging to first place. But for a random case of Spinal Stinosis, the Mets would be leaving them embarrassingly in the dust.
  10. either the Mets are going to bunch those hits better and score 15 during this next series, or they're going to stop hitting altogether and score 1.
  11. Centerfield wrote: I am looking at the schedule. I am not sure why Edgy decided to stop at 18 games. Immediately following this 18 game stretch is another 4 games against the Dodgers. Two games against the Padres, then another 3 against the Nationals. We are still in the thick of a brutal stretch of the schedule. They only get more important from here. But _this_ is the stretch I'm most concerned with. 7 against the two tough california teams and 6 that basically count double. Defining stretch right here.
  12. Second half kicks off with some bird watching, so grab your binoculars. Thor versus [crossout:zm3rfaf3]Laurel[/crossout:zm3rfaf3] Lance Lynn. 8:15 on SNY or WOR

  14. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I'd rather see them get an outfielder. I know that Tejada isn't likely to be productive with the bat over a long stretch, but the Mets infield is pretty decent right now. There's more room for improvement in the outfield. the biggest place to improve right now is second base but the Mets have a myriad of maybes there. They just gave a long term contract to Lagares, Granderson is good, and Cuddyer is good if he's healthy. The outfield is crowded. Plus, despite Nimmo and Conforto probably not being ready, they're not that far off. Kirk and John are good backups. We really don't need a straight outfielder. now Ben Zobrist? sure. I like how the Mets are linked to him and Sandy says "Don't expect an outfielder" like they're not mutually exclusive. i.e. don't believe anything a GM says publicly, and that includes 'leaks'.
  15. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Looper had a shit opening day and a bad last month but in between he was fine. I still think the Mets should have "went for it" in '05, maybe picking up a guy who could have bolstered the back end along with a real 2B. if I recall Looper was also secretly injured at the end.

  17. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: Centerfield wrote: There is a connection between the point of this thread and Tuffy Rhodes that I am supposed to be making. I am not currently making it. I think bml is suggesting that Kirkules might not be the lasting solution to our outfield situation that he seems to think some people think he is. It's really really hard to see how Kirk's NOT better than Darrell Ceciliani, so while not the ultimate answer, he's certainly an upgrade.(or Eric Campbell)
  18. Mets Guy in Michigan wrote: I attended the Home Run Derby in Cleveland in 1997. My buddy and I were attending the FanFest and walked around the stadium just to see what was going on. We were approached by a guy selling tickets, and I think he wanted $5 more than the $20 list price. The Hoem Run Deby was mixed in with the celebrity softball game and was in the late afternoon. It was fun, and I'm sure the tickets go for waaay more today. you don't even want to know.
  19. sure you can. [fimg=300:223ijzm3]https://igcdn-photos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xaf1/t51.2885-15/11417247_386413871483197_1911574550_n.jpg[/fimg:223ijzm3]
  20. Nieuwenhuis hit well last year. This is arbitrary end points, but in his most recent 263 PA going back to 7/1/2013 he's got 108 wRC+ at .221/.308/.433 8 HR, 7 SB, and a 11.4 BB%. And he plays a solid CF/OF. If anything, Collins should be making a point to pinch hit him against righties late in the game and use him as a defensive replacement for Cuddyer, who's knee hurts more and more as the game goes on.
  21. Centerfield wrote: Sorry. AA. Yes. But he's killing it there. Let's call him up. Even if his OPS drops by 100 points he will still be a significant improvement over Cuddyer. the chances of him being better than Cuddyer are probably like 1% if we're being generous. And that's if the bum knee bothers Cuddyer all year. These 4 days of rest might be extremely helpful.
  22. yeah, kinda like Tumblr I guess. With filters and stickers and what not, though people use those less (At least of those I follow) Can do short video too. And more direct comments maybe? Tumblr's a little weird like that, with the resharing and what not.
  23. Gwreck wrote: The only thing that matters to ESPN is ratings and money. If Berman is costing them viewers, he'll go away. Best bet is to turn off your TV. This was the first home run derby I've missed in quite some time; I just can't take his buffoonery anymore. How exactly would they know Berman is costing them viewers? Can they measure who's muted the broadcast? They ask about the broadcast in MLB's FanAtBat surveys, and I presume the reviews are pretty bad. Most of the people that won't watch because of Berman have long since decided not to watch. There's probably a growing hate-watch crowd now with social media mocking him. But it wasn't just him. The entire broadcast was pathetic. With no hyperbole, a group of college kids that have only interned in the field could do better. I'm not sure a high school AV club couldn't top it.
  24. Fman99 wrote: It's fucked up. Where's the instagram account with all the webcams I set up in Dave Kingman's toilets? That guy takes big safari animal shits, I bet. That's Periscope i believe. .
  25. Zvon wrote: I went to join instagram and they wanted me to d/l and install something. Basically I just wanted to view stuff, but I can't with d/l'ing this .exe. I don't have anything that can be considered an app and I don't understand what I'm installing. So instagram is not a web-site, but a program? Who knows what the deal is? you shouldn't have to download an exe. in fact, don't. it's an phone app invented because iPhones used to take really crappy photos, so this app touched them up by adding filters. it's developed into kind of a picture-oriented social media site. You can download the apk to your phone (or you know, through your appropriate market) otherwise just sorta follow the link posted earlier to see Duda's. or like, Instagram INSTAGRAM.COM Create an account or log in to Instagram - Share what you're into with the people who get you. to see Lily Rose Depp's. If you create an account and login via instagram.com you can 'follow' people and your main instgram.com page will be a timeline of those peoples recent posts. I don't think you can create an account online though, gotta be through the mobile app.
