  1. Does Cespedes homer anymore?
  2. well, non-pitcher BB% is 8.7 Flores 5.2 T.J. Rivera 3.9 Moustakas 4.3 At least Moustakas' ISO is literally twice Rivera's so he gets his wRC+ up to 118 this season, but I'm not particularly advocating for him either.
  3. Edgy MD wrote: I'm not sure how Wilmer Flores and T.J. Rivera failed to demonstrate that the Mets have plenty of options at third if Wright doesn't return. Infield depth isn't what has undone the team this year. well for one, neither of them walk enough.

  5. meh, Flores is still not a good defender and doesn't walk enough. He's a nice super-sub type guy but I'd like it, especially if we're going with Rosario and Smith, to get a good defender there as well. Watch how magically the pitching is elite again once that happens.
  6. 41Forever wrote: You could push for the DH? Commissioner Manfred, we really like our powerful, though streaky, oft-injured, wrong-side-of-30 player, but we have no where to play him. We ask that you abandon the remaining bit of National League sanity and adopt the DH so we can keep him. Not gonna fly. Well of course not, we'd play David Wright there, not Duda.

As much as we may have liked Lucas he had to go and it makes zero sense to bring him back. meh, he's one of the best hitters on the team and Smith is a prospect. He could still flame out for all we know. You could push for the DH for the other 150 games, juggle the position, play Duda in RF sometimes since the Mets don't seem to care about defense anyway. I mean, just handing the job to a prospect with less than two months of major league experience shouldn't ever be a given.
  8. Yu thought we were done? Darvish to the Dodgers.

  10. Centerfield wrote: I have this fear that Duda is going to turn into Daniel Murphy. Nah, for one Duda was already better than Murphy, and Duda is unlikely to benefit from a random increase in HR because of ball changes. That change was very favorable to Murphy (and you know who else would've fucking loved it? David Wright)
  11. technically the Mets already did two things. I'm just in it for the fake accounts though.
  12. Rockin' Doc wrote: It was inevitable that some of the multitude of veterans in their walk year on the Mets roster would have to be traded. I hat that Duda had to be one of them. I'm just glad that he wasn't traded to the Yankees. That would have been cruel and unusual punishment. Getting swapped to the Yankees would be more like punishment than being traded. It wasn't that inevitable. In fact, it might have been the opposite. That's the silver lining of all the bad luck hitting at once, and early.
  13. A Boy Named Seo wrote: Welcome Bobby Parnall 2.0! Hope so. That'd be a solid return.
  14. Lefty Specialist wrote: It's not a political statement to say that Anthony Scaramucci is totally f'n nuts. He behaves like a coke addict. Wanna float a conspiracy theory that he provided for Doc?
  15. Great Met. Fun to watch. Enjoyed Duda, sad he's gone and sad we only got a talented maybe reliever for him. Seems like the Rays and Astros are my teams to root for to go all the way this year.
  16. Sewald seems to have the most favorable numbers, so I'll say him unless it's mostly lefties and then use Blevins.
  17. Edgy MD wrote: I'm seeing a paucity of curveballs thrown across the staff, but it's particularly concerning with him and Wheeler, who presumably have the best ones. And the curve provided him with his best moments last night. Show a little break across the vertical plane, guys. It won't kill ya. Isn't this one of the things Warthen is known for? Sliders instead of curveballs?
  18. Edgy MD wrote: If he's a top 10% hitter (and I'm curious where that comes from), he's a top 10% hitter that's rotting on the bench while earning beaucoup $$. 331 qualified hitters, he's ranked 31st in wRC+.
  19. If a team is only trading him as a bench piece, it might not even be worth the bother of trading him. Never mind he's been a top 10% hitter since May 1st.
  20. Edgy MD wrote: That's the first official statement I heard confirming Céspedes was hurt. Hardly official. Mets game notes say nothing. Guess we'll see.
  21. Edgy MD wrote: As for Reyes, the plan seems to be to keep him around to continue mentoring Rosario. So I wouldn't be preparing to lose him. It's not unthinkable that he could be back in 2018. I mean, it should be.
  22. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Lots of people anxious to move on from Travvy. I would be if he hadn't improved, but it looks like he has. At least a little. Has he? I feel like in his previous spurts between injuries he was better. He's at a 92 wRC+ but only a .300 OBP. It's better than last year where he was walking less AND not driving the ball, but it's still below his career average. Of 53 catchers with at least 100 PA, he's 29th in fWAR. 25th in wRC+. 28th in BB%. He's swinging way more. He's making better contact when he does hit it, but he's doing that less. his swinging strike rate is way up too. Given ball tweaks I'm not sure how much credit he should get for better contact either. He needs to stop swinging so much, at least out of the zone, and take a few more walks. I'm not necessarily ready to 'move on' but It's gotta at least be a thought. It's probably relatively easy to get some of those catchers ahead of him, though some are aging. Alex Avila? Kevin Plawecki is tearing up Vegas, can we at least get him Rene's starts and see what he can do with another shot?
  23. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: I'd trade the living shit out of Matz. http://thefecaltransplantfoundation.org/what-is-fecal-transplant/
  24. Thor maybe, just from a Nolan Ryan standpoint. You can trade everyone else if the return yields more value.
  25. 41Forever wrote: de Grom has an outside shot at 20 wins -- but a lot of things have to break right. Dealing Addison Reed would not help in his effort. I'd like to see him get to 4 fWAR.
