  1. =DocTee post_id=115230 time=1671629281 user_id=85] From a friend on social media: "leaving out 2020 because of the shortened season, the last four years he has averaged 21 HR, 70 RBI, .272 average with 69 runs scored, 24 doubles, 1 stolen base, .358 OBP, .835 OPS, 117 games Similar numbers to Escobar last year.
  2. a good explanation I heard (I think it was from Howie) is that the MLB batting average across all hitters is .180 with two strikes. so if a shifting team abandons 3B with 2 strikes you significantly improve your odds of a hit even if you fail 3 out of 4 times to get the bunt down.
  3. what was Soto griping to ump about there?
  4. Thanks for posting that! OLHC was my home parish until we moved away when I was in 5th grade. Mrs. Hodges lived one block over from us and everyone had a connection to or fond story about Gil. He signed a hand drawn picture of Mr. Met made out to my brother in me in November 1969 - hangs in my home now as my most prized Metly possession.

Really growing on me. Good move to get him.
  6. Benjamin Grimm wrote: This also means that unvaccinated visiting players won't be able to play either. Being ineligible for 81 home games might induce a Mets player to get the vaccine, but we may have cases where a star visiting player will sit out a three-game series at Citi Field because he doesn't want to get vaccinated just to play in three games. This is an interesting wrinkle. It makes ZERO sense, but the NYC vaccine requirement is not applicable to visiting players. https://www.forbes.com/sites/dereksaul/2022/02/16/nyc-mayor-says-vaccine-rule-keeping-nba-player-kyrie-irving-sidelined-is-unfair-after-commissioner-asks-for-review/?sh=41a9e7364b11https://www.forbes.com/sites/dereksaul/2022/02/16/nyc-mayor-says-vaccine-rule-keeping-nba-player-kyrie-irving-sidelined-is-unfair-after-commissioner-asks-for-review/?sh=41a9e7364b11

  8. I am a big hall guy, and unable to distinguish who did from who didn't, so I just go with who I think are the best in comparison to others that have played their same position historically: Arod Bonds Clemens Schilling Jones Rolen Sheffield Kent Helton Wagner I'll vote for Papi next time, nothing personal. Further down the best all time 1B list than any of these are at their respective position.
  9. Mackie Shilstone's journey into the popular culture took him through Jose Reyes' hamstrings and into John Goodman's belly. https://pagesix.com/2021/12/07/john-goodman-continues-to-show-off-200-pound-weight-loss/amp/https://pagesix.com/2021/12/07/john-goodman-continues-to-show-off-200-pound-weight-loss/amp/
  10. 4-5 innings 1-3 runs. He did what he what he was paid to do and I expect he will continue to do so. I wish they kept him abordick.

  12. Rojas is a maroon And why is Almora turning and playing off the wall instead of making a jump for it?
  13. Edgy MD wrote: Is this really a wow? Because I don't want to be the stinkaroonie, but I'm looking at this .292 on-base percentage, which followed a .238 last year, and it's not moving my heart. I certainly welcome his glove and his power, but I'm not thinking that these were what the team was lacking. I share all your fears about his OBP and if he is what we needed. If I am trading a top prospect, it would have been for a SP. But maybe there is more to this McNeil injury than they are telling us. Deal makes a lot more sense if that is the case. I see Baez as a higher quality version of Villar. If McNeil is healthy, I'd keep writing in Guillorme most days for the OBP and defense, and start platooning Dom and JD. That combo in LF should be more productive without hurting D, the infield gets both an offensive and defensive upgrade, and Villar improves the bench.

  15. cross DSG off the list of possible replacemets https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/cubs-sign-dee-strange-gordon-following-nico-hoerners-hamstring-injury-per-report/https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/cubs-sign-dee-strange-gordon-following-nico-hoerners-hamstring-injury-per-report/
  16. I nominate Ryley Gilliam- 24yo non roster invite to major league camp. Hasn't pitched much in the minors but over two seasons has averaged 14 k/9. He will get 25 innings out of the pen this year and make us forget the Bashlor bunch.

  18. Very solid press appearance by Taiwan. Looks strong and confident - hopefully pitches that way Camera turned off right after they announced Diaz was coming in. Pretty much how I watched games the last two years but hopefully not in 21!
  19. Any idea of the year or who is sitting in the back seat?
  20. wow, love that photo!

  22. that is the best male blonding I have seen since Piazza. I am very excited.
  23. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=56482 time=1613742325 user_id=68] Great. Now the Mets can put out an eight-man rotation. Who needs Bauer?
  24. Yes but he has upside. The Luchesi guy is like Matz without the high ceiling. Point in fact: The 6'5" Lucchesi has three inches on the 6'2" Matz, so Joey has a higher ceiling. Also: come ON now. Higher Ceiling indeed - thanks for the laugh!
  25. I'll get a head start on the poll: I love it!!!
