  1. Ghostbusters is going to win this one and deserves to win this one, but I had to throw a vote to Heaven Help Us or my Catholic guilt would have overwhelmed me.
  2. Fast Times probably deserves my vote, but man I went through a phase where I loved the Police Academy flicks. Chalk one up to sentimental memories of junior high and joshing about the Blue Oyster Bar.
  3. Romancing the Stone was funny & sexy. Rain Man was kind of mawkish and dull.
  4. I know a lot of people who love Fletch, but never saw the appeal myself. Splash! gets my vote.
  5. St. Elmo's Fire shouldn't even be seeded, especially with Strange Brew being snubbed.
  6. Tough choice, but the hawtness of Ione Skye may tip the scales.
  7. I forever associate JoBeth with "The Day After".
  8. AG/DC wrote: It's all that cotton pickin'. Makes a man crazee. Not cotton, "cotten". Cotten is cotton with mercury in it, which makes ya crazed.
  9. Vic Sage wrote: youse folks are out of your cotten pickin minds. Well, 13 out of 24 people are out of their minds.
  10. Footloose was lame and the soundtrack is a gathering of 80's music at it's worst. On the other hand: "Merry New Year!"
  11. Lea Thomson appears in her underwear in Howard the Duck but I would never vote for that movie.
  12. Poltergeist scared the shit out of me and caused me to run out of the theater. I was never able to watch Lethal Weapon all the way through.
  13. Tough matchup, but I made a ruthless choice.
  14. Jean Shepherd was in it along with all these other people.
  15. AG/DC wrote: Willets Point wrote: I saw the movie Ollie Hopnoodle's Haven of Bliss, another movie based on Jean Shepard's Ralphie stories, and it was actually pretty good. Is that also the same as It Runs in the Family? Well, given half a recommendation, I'll see it. Well done! No, I never saw It Runs in the Family.
  16. TheOldMole wrote: I voted for Arthur, then immediately had buyer's remorse. Is it too late to change? I put my vote on Road Warrior for you.
  17. HahnSolo wrote: With a title like that, are you sure it's not an, oh, adult film? You wouldn't believe what Mr. Parker does with the Bumpus dogs.
  18. I saw the movie Ollie Hopnoodle's Haven of Bliss, another movie based on Jean Shepard's Ralphie stories, and it was actually pretty good.
  19. AG/DC wrote: I wanted to see A Christmas Story in the theaters but my mother wouldn't take me, so that should count for something. I'm just sayin'. Maybe everybody's mother felt the same. My mother's objections were fiscally based, pretty much the reason I didn't do anything as a kid. AG/DC wrote: And as often as you post your dislike for the first half-hour of the film, I think it's just fine. Do I do that? Jeez', I have nothign left to say. I think at least three times previously you've gone through why you don't like the beginning of A Christmas Story. Seriously.
  20. I wanted to see A Christmas Story in the theaters but my mother wouldn't take me, so that should count for something. Watched it for the first time at school in 5th grade. And as often as you post your dislike for the first half-hour of the film, I think it's just fine.
  21. metsguyinmichigan wrote: Not sure why, but I just don't think Mel Brooks is all that funny. Mel Brooks is funny. Spaceballs, however, is not.
  22. Never saw either of these movies, never wanted to.
  23. The choices are much easier today than yesterday. A Christmas Story wins a Major Award.
  24. Another no-brainer. My vote goes to 11.
  25. A no-brainer. It's inconceivable that 48 Hrs. could win this thing.
