  1. They used to have John Rocker and his kitten.
  2. An odd little book with a new take on art appreciation. I think. It's all like post-modern and shit.
  3. It's my impression that Bobby is the type of manager who works well with young players, molding them into "his guys" and works less well with established veterans joining from other teams. Wouldn't Bobby V in the Bronx just be asking for player-manager confrontations? I mean I think it would be great, but why would the Yankees want that?
  4. Looks like the Shea security let all the bigots sit in the front row along the first base line, but kept all the Jewish and dark-skinned Mets fans in the Mezz back rows.
  5. They drove a dump truck of money to my house! I'm not made of stone.
  6. I thought I heard: "Frankly Scarlett, I don't give a damn what you think."

  8. Movin' on up!!!]The Tides are expected to add RHP Yusmeiro Petit to their roster for the stretch run. Petit, who was considered trade bait earlier this summer , is considered the best pitching prospect in the Mets minor leagues. In Binghamton this season, Petit was 9-3 with a 2.91 ERA. In 117 innings, he has 130 strikeouts and 18 walks. Opponents are batting .209 against him Source
  9. You know, maybe you should joing Metsaholic Anonymous. The first step is admitting that you're a Metsaholic.
  10. Err, busy that weekend, sorry.
  11. But could a robot respond to Edgy's question?
  12. If you look at this thread, it certainly does appear that metsaholic knows how to use the reply feature. I wonder why s/he doesn't use it more often?
  13. People would stop starting the wave if the rest of us stopped participating. I call for an anti-wave sit-in!
  14. We joke a lot about our prospects being orphans, but in some sad news Angel Pagan's father has passed away and Angel has temporarily left the team to attend the funeral. RIP for the elder Mr. Pagan.
  15. ALL ages and ALL races in one family. That must be a big family.
  16. I wasn't around when the Featured Archives was started on the old Crane Pool, but when I took over archiving I looked for a few things in a thread to make it a featured archive:* Long threads - Obviously a topic that engenders a lot of responses is probably something of interest. Length alone does insure Featured Archives status though. For example, some long threads may just be two CPF'ers having a lengthy and dull debate over some sabermetrics that interest no one else. Which brings me to my next criterion.*Diverse participation - Threads in which a great number of CPF members participate in are often great threads since obviously they interested a diverse group of people. Again, a long thread with a lot of members participating is not a guarantee for the Featured Archives, but a good place to look for one.*Great writing - Going back to when I first started participating in Metsonline back in 1997 I've been amazed by the insightful, illuminating, and downright funny writing Mets fans post online. The Featured Archives is definitely the place to highlight great writing.*Crane Pool Culture - These are the threads that help define us as a group. For example, threads where terms like "assclown" and "caustic fucktard" are used for the first time, or the originating thread of one of the many great debates on the CPF.In my mind, the Featured Archive should be the creme da le creme of the Crane Pool, and we are better served by having it be highly selective so the truly great threads aren't lost among the thousands of threads we produce (in fact, if I were in charge I would only save the Featured Archive and chuck the rest, but I digress). That being said I'd be happy to hear what other members have in mind for the Featured Archives. Furthermore, if there's a thread that you think belongs in the Featured Archive, please post a link or the thread title here in this thread.

  22. I thought it was Astro Annie who joined the parody competition as Miss Pollyanna. I don't even remember Ghost of Throneberry. Is he related to Hot Rod Kanehl?
  23. When you sit in the type of seats I usually end up in, a glove looks pretty ridiculous, but I don't see why not.
