  1. Don't remember when (1987-88?) but Tim Teufel had a homer at the Astrodome that the umps ruled that it only hit the top of the wall.
  2. Are you looking for "brunch" or "waffles"?
  3. GIS for "flying waffle":
  4. I use supper all the time, inherited from my Bronx-born-and-raised mother who is decidely urban. Supper is an evening meal on any typical day. Dinner is a more formal meal, usually evening, sometimes during the day (ex: Thanksgiving & Christmas) or when you dine out at a restaurant with table service.
  5. Remember that Bret went to Boston to root for the A's because the Sox didn't need to pad their lead over the Yankees anymore. That worked out real well.
  6. I think there's plenty to watch for. The White Sox have not won a World Series since 1917 or a pennant since 1959, so if either of those things happens that's a big story. I kind of like the Astros - excepting their Yankee-reject pitchers - and it's about time they won their first pennant. The Padres finished just a game over .500, can they go all the way? Can they win a series? Can they win a game? Is the Red Sox 2004 just a blip or has the franchise's luck turned around enough to go back to back? (After all, as Yankee fans will remind you the Sox are still 20 championships behind). How embarrasing will the Braves first round loss be this year? Will the Angels repeat their 2002 shellacking of the Yankees? What incredibly stupid thing will McCarver say? I'm looking forward to it. Go Red Sox!
  7. Kind of wish this matchup didn't happen in the first round. As a Bostonian, the Red Sox are my second favorite team so I always root for them, but Chicago has been waiting a long time.
  8. As I said in another thread I'd like to see the Astros finally win a pennant. If they can do it with Clemens getting spanked in each of his starts, all the better.
  9. I'm an underdog supporter. The Pads kind of remind me of the '73 Mets (except that was before I was born so I don't really remember) and it would be great if they could make a run. The Cardinals bore me.
  10. I'm so waiting for the day when the Yankees won't even be in the playoffs. I hope their stay is a short three games this season.
  11. Baseball causes me great pain yet I keep coming back. Is there an amnesty program for those tortured by baseball?
  12. Where's the love (or lack thereof) for Jeff Torborg?
  13. Now we see where La Diva gets it from.
  14. Wouldn't a play-in game at Yankee Stadium be sweet if the Red Sox won with the help of a cheap homerun by a light-hitting infielder?
  15. Actually, as crappy as the weather is in April in the Northeast, a trip to where the weather is nice could help avoid some rainouts.
  16. Middle Cranepool: http://www.getalifealready.com/cpf/archives/ This replaces the General Archives forum here on the main board.
  17. "Dwight Gooden pitched for a team in the American League whose name escapes me. "The Cleveland Indians, duh!
  18. I'll only root for them if they move back to Boston.
  19. I bet that homer record was alien-aided.

  24. Angel Pagan hit a line drive right at Toledo shortstop Don Kelly that ended yesterday's game and the season for the Norfolk Tides, as the Tides are eliminated from the International League playoffs. :(
