  1. I will not worship false gods.
  2. 2 pages in and I don't know which CPF'er had a tryst with Anna.
  3. Who was the first Met younger than you? Carlos Mendoza made his Mets debut (and farewell) in Sept. 1997 when he was a year younger than I. And for you older folks, who was the last Met older than you? I guess I'm not one of the older folks because from the current 40-man roster Glavine, Martinez, Iriki, Wagner, Lo Duca, Franco and Delgado are all older than me. Actually, while good for my ego it may not be good for the team that so much of the pitching staff is older than me.
  4. Wow my team sucks!
  5. They left out Chuck Knoblauch as well.
  6. Freakin' hillarious
  7. I remember the game less than my own emotions - the tension of the game made my heart go pitter-patter and sucked the energy from my body. That's what I felt at the end of NLCS games 6: tired. And I just watched the game. I don't think watching it on DVD would replicate the same emotions, although on the other hand it would give a chance to actually appreciate the baseball aspects.
  8. Total crap from begininning to end. And yet I couldn't put it down. I just kept turning pages saying "This is stupid, this is stupid."
  9. Any trade that ends with Mike Stanton not on the Mets is a good trade.
  10. I'd rather see a World Series flag than an MVP.

  12. ="sharpie"]I'm a huge Murakami fan. "Wind Up Bird" not my favorite of his, but they're all good. This is why I love the Crane Pool community. I can't imagine many other sports discussion forums where someone would say "I'm a huge Murakami fan" unless Murakami were the name of a professional wrestler. I've previously read The Elephant Vanishes and A Wild Sheep Chase but that was a while back so I don't remember them well. What's your favorite(s)?
  13. That Mitchell is a busy man. Negotiating peace in Northern Ireland, director of the Red Sox, chairman of Walt Disney Co. and now rooting out 'roids users.
  14. Thanks. I appreciate you taking pity on me.
  15. I hate when I make a good ribald joke and it's totally ignored. Not even a LOL.
  16. From the Onion: ] Injury-Free U.S. Team Deems World Baseball Classic 'A Complete Success' March 23, 2006 | Onion Sports ANAHEIM, CA—Players on Team USA, along with MLB owners and managers, rejoiced Thursday night following their final game of the World Baseball Classic, a 2-1 loss to Mexico, as the Americans came out of the tournament safe, sound, and in one piece. "There is an amazing sense of accomplishment among these healthy, injury-free players. Wearing this uniform, and not getting hurt while inside of it, will be something these players are going to remember for the rest of the regular season," said Team USA manager Buck Martinez while helping each player navigate an awkward step up into the clubhouse. "We didn't emerge victorious, but we did emerge completely unscathed. I say we are the real winners here." Following their elimination from harm's way, Martinez joined his 30 healthy players in a cautious locker-room celebration, during which they gingerly spritzed shatterproof plastic bottles of champagne on each other. and ] Ichiro: 'The Best Part About Playing For My Country Was Not Playing For The Seattle Mariners' March 23, 2006 | Onion Sports SAN DIEGO—In an interview following Japan's 10-6 victory against Cuba in the World Baseball Classic championship game Monday, Ichiro Suzuki called the tournament a "great opportunity to represent anything besides the Seattle Mariners." "Playing alongside my countrymen on the world stage was nice, but the highlight of the event for me was not having to watch helplessly from the on-deck circle as [seattle outfielder] Willie Bloomquist pops out for the fourth time in one game," said Ichiro, who has been contemplating a return to his non-Mariner roots since late 2003. "Honestly, I would have played for the Netherlands team if it meant 17 days away from the Mariners spring-training camp." Although he said that the legendary Sadaharu Oh did a fine job coaching Team Japan, Ichiro added that "next to Mike Hargrove, any idiot in a baseball cap would seem like a decent manager."

  18. That could be a sticky situation. Make sure you don't wear anything that stains easily if you're the loser.
